Death Wizard Diary.

Chapter 142: My abilities are insufficient, I apologize.

Chapter 142: My abilities are insufficient, I apologize.

Upon hearing this, Thor, Nick, and Wright all looked at Byron in astonishment.

Saul was surprised that Byron knew about his relationship with the Tower Master. Although it had never been explicitly stated, Saul had always believed that the Tower Master was secretly teaching him. He just didn't know why he did it so secretly.

Could it be that he thinks a first-level apprentice is not presentable? But judging from the tower master's behavior, he shouldn't be someone who cares about such things.

The shock felt by the other two was even more indescribable, especially by Wright, whose eyes were filled with despair after realizing what Byron was saying.

He felt that even if he managed to escape from here and return to the Wizard's Tower, he probably wouldn't live long.

After all, after Bill secretly harmed Thor, he did not choose to help Thor, but instead blocked Thor's path to survival.

He actually treated the tower master's student as a pawn to be discarded?

Wizards do value worth and ability, but they are not indifferent to relationships.

The thought that Thor was actually a student of the Tower Master made Wright realize that the evil spirit in front of him wasn't so scary after all.

Perhaps dying here is the easiest way to find relief.

Byron ignored their surprise and focused on waiting for the evil spirit's answer.

Unfortunately, a background that inspires fear in ordinary people has no effect on evil spirits.

Perhaps because of its longing for sunlight, the evil spirit refused to give up Thor's body.

"He was just an apprentice." After thinking for a moment, perhaps out of some consideration for Gorsa's status as a second-level wizard, the evil spirit added, "His consciousness dissipated when I possessed this body. A low-level apprentice, how could you possibly think he could still be alive? Get started now, or I'll devour your souls!"

"It's completely over now."

Upon hearing of Thor's death, Wright's eyes glazed over, his mind already conjuring up images of how he would be cut into pieces upon his return, and what experiments he would be used for.

Nick immediately looked at Byron, only to find that Byron remained relatively calm.

But Byron wasn't as calm as Nick thought.

Having finally managed to lure Morton over, they couldn't just give up at the last step.

The first plan failed, and Byron's eyes were filled with deep sorrow, but he still nodded to Nick.

Nick immediately said, "Lord Morton, please stand in the center of the magic circle. I need to connect the inductor for you."

The evil spirit couldn't wait any longer. He strode into the magic circle and let Nick stick countless needles with wires attached into his head.

The other end of the wire was connected to the inductor that Nick had just assembled.

After confirming that the connection was correct, Nick fixed the inductor next to the crack, the closest point to the soul storm.

There is a huge speaker at the other end of the inductor.

Nick readjusted the angle of the horn, then picked up a small control panel.

"Lord Morton, please relax. The introduction of the soul fragment may have a certain degree of impact on you."

Morton snorted and closed his eyes nonchalantly.

As the instrument was turned on, a piercing sound came from the inductor's loudspeaker.

For a moment, Nick, Byron, and Wright all showed expressions of frowning and endurance.

Nick, ignoring his headache, turned the inductor to a specific frequency.

Instantly, the grayish-white storm within the crack began to spin faster, and small fragments were flung out, falling and disappearing around them.

A few minutes later, several larger white phantoms slowly separated from the storm and entered the speaker of the inductor.

The magic circle beneath Morton's feet suddenly lit up with a dazzling light.

"Now!" Byron shouted, seemingly instructing Morton on the fusion of the soul fragments.

But Saul knew that Byron was speaking to him.

While Nick was adjusting the instruments, Thor had already climbed back onto his head. As soon as Byron gave the signal, he immediately crawled inside.

Upon entering this time, he discovered that his spiritual space was different.

What was originally a chaotic and blurry mental area has actually transformed into a small space with a physical form!

It was pitch black all around, except for the huge circular stone platform beneath Thor's feet. The array drawn on the platform was exactly the same as the one Byron had drawn in reality.

Suddenly, half a figure appeared in a circle in the center of the stone platform; it was Morton, who had returned to his original appearance.

Now he was just like when Thor first saw him, with a bluish-purple face, an aged appearance, and only the upper half of his body remaining.

"My consciousness space has been affected?" Thor crouched down, touching the ground.

The tactile sensation from his fingers was very clear, completely different from when he was fighting with the evil spirit for control of his body.

It's as if someone reassembled and reorganized his world of consciousness, transforming it into a more understandable form.

Some white fragments fell from above, swirling like snowflakes.

Thor immediately recognized that it was the image of the Soul Fragment here.

These fragments of soul spontaneously flew toward Morton, but were blocked by an invisible force as they approached him.

The interaction between repulsion and attraction caused those snowflake-like fragments of the soul to begin spinning around Morton, quickly forming a miniature whirlwind.

"Could it be that the Soul Storm is also formed based on this principle?"

Thor took another step forward. Although it was the first time he had seen this tangible scene, his brain instinctively understood that only by becoming the final survivor of the circular platform could he regain control of his body.

Just then, more than a dozen figures suddenly appeared around the stone platform.

Some of them are whole, some are broken; some are clear-headed, some are confused.

Thor recognized them as the soul consciousness that had just been devoured by Morton.

These figures, including Thor, are all semi-transparent, except for Morton in the middle, who, although only half-body, is opaque and appears as if he were a solid entity.

The moment the other souls within this body appeared, they noticed Morton in the very center. The instinct for survival drove these complete or incomplete consciousnesses to actively move closer to Morton's main consciousness.

Meanwhile, Morton at the center was still trying to absorb the swirling "snowflakes" in the air, only responding with a cold laugh to the spirits that appeared around him.

He opened his mouth wide, took a deep breath, and several fragments of his soul entered his body.

A sense of fulfillment immediately filled my heart, but it would take time to fully integrate these souls.

Morton was too impatient. Before he could finish fusing the soul fragments within his body, he took another deep breath.

More soul fragments entered Morton's body, but this time he felt unwell.

Several of these soul fragments are not his at all.

The impure fragments of his soul entered his body, immediately causing Morton pain and even more chaotic lingering resentment.

"How come there are fragments of other people's souls? Are you playing me?" Morton immediately opened his eyes in reality and angrily rebuked Byron and the others.

Byron explained, "Lord Morton, our inductance device has limited capabilities; it can only do its best to filter out fragments of your soul. However, other fragments may inevitably enter during this process. Please select and filter them again yourself to avoid being affected."

"Hmph!" The evil spirit felt countless thoughts surfacing and sinking into its mind.

Some were furious, cursing themselves for being tricked; others rationally believed that Byron's words made sense; still others were anxiously urging Morton on, saying they didn't want to lose their lower bodies.

Morton felt a surge of violent, murderous intent stirring within him, threatening to overwhelm his reason. But the powerful and stable spirit he was possessing temporarily mitigated this influence.

This also made Morton realize that if he had truly lost a part of his soul forever, he would never be able to regain his former sanity and would forever suffer the pain of a broken spirit.

"Don't let me find out you're up to something." With that, Morton slowly closed his eyes again.

This clearly indicates that they agreed with Byron's statement.

Wright, who was standing to the side, snapped out of his reverie of imagining all sorts of death scenarios. He looked at Byron, who had a serious expression, and Morton, who was being calmed down in the array, and showed a shocked expression of bewilderment.

Nick, who was standing by the crack and in charge of operating the inductor, turned his back to everyone and quietly reached out to change the parameters of the inductor slightly.

Having done all this discreetly, Nick tilted his head slightly.

Upon receiving Nick's signal, Byron pursed his lips.

We will do our best to prevent other fragments of the soul from entering your body.

If so, it means that we, as third-level apprentices, are not capable enough.

I'm really... so sorry!
