Chapter 105 (Mountain Town Story) I hope Ada is happy

The commotion had already alerted the neighbors, who rushed to the courtyard gate to see what was happening, even before they were properly dressed.

Inside the room, Penny had already climbed off the bed and shuffled her little feet to Saul's side. Her face didn't show the same despair as her brother's.

Penny touched Thor's knee and gently shook his leg.

"Brother Thor."

"I am here."

"Are they going to take Penny away?"

"Yes, and your brother probably can't stop them."

"Brother Thor," Penny raised her little face, showing little fear, "after Penny is taken away, will she die?"

"Pretty much, are you scared?"

"Actually, dying isn't such a terrible thing. Brother Thor..."

"Um?"

"Since Penny is going to die, we won't need the eyes anymore. Brother Thor, you can take them."

Thor gazed at Penny, couldn't help but chuckle softly, and reached out to ruffle Penny's hair.

Thor was taken aback, looking at little Penny, thinking she was going to say something about not wanting to die.

"Okay," Thor said softly. "Now, tilt your head back and open your eyes wide. It will hurt a little."

Outside the door, Ada was still making a final effort, and Captain Jeff did not immediately resort to violence.

He has always done this over the years: rather than taking the girl away violently, he would rather let her family give up on their own under the siege of the townspeople.

In this way, when they are awake at night, they can comfort themselves by thinking that they sacrificed their children for the greater good of the town.

Outside the door, as expected, people had already begun to persuade Ada.

The reasons given were nothing more than "the town took you in," "you can live a peaceful life in the town from now on," and "one should not forget kindness."

Jenny chuckled softly. "Otherwise, you should have left long ago. Isn't it just because you're greedy for the peace and wealth of Mosailtown? Faced with this kind of life, taking a little risk with your own sister is acceptable, isn't it?"

Ada's shoulders slumped, and he shook his head in despair, "No, no."

Captain Jeff glanced at the sky. This Ada was unexpectedly difficult to deal with, and neither the wizard nor the mayor could make it today…

He waved his hand, and the soldiers behind him rushed forward, determined to snatch the person.

Over the years, I've encountered tough people. If I don't have time, I can just take them away first and then comfort them properly.

When Ada saw the soldiers about to rush up, he quickly ran to the doorway and braced his hands and feet against the door frame.

"No, I won't let you take Penny away."

The soldiers had no interest in an unarmed boy and were preparing to clear a path with their fists.

Suddenly, a person rushed out from behind the soldier and cut directly between Ada and the soldier.

It's Jayce.

He was holding a long knife, exactly the same as the one Jeff had at his waist.

"Hey, Ada, do you think you can save Penny like that? When it really matters, you need to pick up a weapon like me."

"Jayce?" Ada never expected that at the most critical moment, it would be Jayce, whom he had always looked down on and was most wary of, who would step forward to protect Penny.

Upon seeing Jayce appear, Captain Jeff, who had been standing to the side, finally stepped forward.

"Jayce, this is none of your business." Jeff also drew his longsword.

"Of course I'll take care of her. To be honest, Penny is already my daughter. She calls me father, so naturally I have to protect her."

Jeff's expression turned somewhat serious upon seeing this.

The people in the courtyard also retreated, realizing that a fight was probably about to break out.

"Go and bring Penny out. I'll take care of Jayce," Captain Jeff ordered loudly.

Jayce knew that Ada was no match for those soldiers, and while he was careful of Jeff, he also had to help Ada share most of the pressure.

But after leaving the army for so many years, he might not be able to handle so many people.

A bloody battle seemed inevitable.

"Ada, Jayce."

"Brother, Dad."

Penny's low, hoarse voice came from behind.

Both of them were startled and turned to look into the room.

Penny was groping her way outside, her eyes, which were usually open, tightly closed.

Inside the room, Thor remained seated at the table, watching everything with a blank expression.

"Penny, go back quickly," Ada shouted.

"Ada, you take Penny and go, I'll hold them off." Jayce wanted to buy more time.

"Brother, Dad, please stop fighting. Let them take Penny away. Penny isn't afraid to die."

Ada looked at Penny in disbelief. "Why, Penny?"

Jayce, however, scoffed, "Don't take children's words to heart."

He raised his long sword and charged forward.

The soldiers on the other side were caught off guard by his sudden attack and had no choice but to dodge.

At that moment, Jeff arrived and swung his sword down, nearly hitting Jayce on the shoulder.

Fortunately, Jayce changed his move at the last minute, sheathing his sword and blocking it horizontally, thus avoiding a bloodbath.

He hadn't fought in years, and when he picked up the knife, he realized he was old.

Ada picked up Penny, intending to take the opportunity to run out of the courtyard. However, the courtyard gate was already completely blocked by the townspeople.

Even when they saw Ada carrying Penny rushing towards them, they showed no intention of moving aside.

Ada tried to push the people aside, but found that he couldn't possibly resist the strength of so many people on his own.

He was quickly tackled by soldiers who arrived from behind and snatched Penny away.

This time, the town's residents immediately made way for them.

Several soldiers grabbed Penny and tried to take her away.

At this moment, Penny, who had been silent all along, suddenly turned around and shouted, "Ada, Brother Thor promised me that he would make you happy in the future."

No sooner had she said that than Penny was pulled out of Ada's sight.

"Penny!!!!"

Ada remained pinned down until Jayce was cut down by Jeff and several other soldiers.

Jeff didn't go all out on Jayce, only leaving a thin, long knife wound on his chest.

"Jayce, your actions have crossed the line for this town. You have three days to leave Mosail Town." Captain Jeff paused, then added, "Or, if you are willing to repent and return to the Guard, I might let you off the hook."

But Jayce simply pressed his wound, slowly got up from the ground, and ignored Jeff's offer of help.

Jeff shook his head and left with his men.

After the soldiers left, some neighbors wanted to go up and comfort Ada, but when they saw Ada's bloodshot eyes staring fiercely at them, they all shook their heads and backed away.

They even went so far as to say, "We'll talk about this when you're more rational."
