Bring a fairy tale to Hogwarts!
Chapter 43 imperio
"Hey! Open that one too," Ron suggested excitedly. "It might be a training book Professor McGonagall gave you, like 'The Rise and Fall of Quidditch.' You can borrow it if you want."
"sure!"
Harry showed the same interest and eagerly reached out to open the package.
Unexpectedly, another book slid out of the neatly packaged parchment: a strangely textured cover that seemed to be gently wriggling, with the title "From Bloodline to Curse" written on it.
It was the book that Professor McGonagall took away.
Harry and Ron were both stunned when the book slid out. Harry thought he would never see the book again after it was taken away, but now it was back in front of him.
He soon noticed a note peeking out from the side of the book, the cursive script on it looking familiar—
"Harry,"
"Professor McGonagall returned the book to me, saying that you used the spells inside incorrectly at the beginning of the semester and that she hoped I would provide sufficient supervision when teaching you similar spells. So I marked the spells that violated school rules as not to be used on people."
"Professor V. Vanderbohm."
Ron paused for a moment, then couldn't help but retort, "I'm pretty sure that's not what Professor McGonagall meant."
"Speaking of which, Professor Vanderbom is a bit odd," Ron said again. "Doesn't he always chat with Snape? A professor who hangs out with Slytherin must be very strict..."
"They are really different."
Harry said it with certainty.
Unfortunately, the seventh graders, who lost 2 points for saying the wrong thing, had a different opinion.
Ron also looked at Harry with a strange expression for a while, thinking that Harry had been brainwashed. But he hadn't had much contact with Professor Victor, so he didn't want to make a hasty judgment. He just scratched his head and began to excitedly touch Harry's flying broomstick package.
Harry opened "From Blood to Curse," quickly flipped through it, and tried to find the mark Professor Victor had mentioned.
He soon saw a small cross that Victor had marked on a section called "Understanding Curses and Anti-Curses from the Perspective of Family Heritage," along with a string of seemingly casual and sloppy handwriting.
"X"
"According to school rules, the following spells are restricted to public use by prospective Aurors."
Auror?
Harry had never heard of this term before, so he curiously flipped through a few more pages to see what it was about.
But all he saw in the back were several illustrations of withered flowers, faded flowers, and flowers with holes in their leaves. He couldn't understand the meaning of the incantations, only that they would cause some kind of obstacle to the person.
But as he turned to the last page, his hand was accidentally scratched by the corner of the book, leaving a small bloodstain.
"oops."
Harry instinctively shook his hand.
But to his surprise, as he did this, he suddenly noticed that the original text on the last page was gradually disappearing, and new text was beginning to emerge from the page...
The drop of blood that had just stained the paper had gradually disappeared into the pages.
What's going on?
...Does a book have hidden compartments?
Harry paused for a moment.
He first looked at the newly revealed text.
At the very top, a spell was written in elegant handwriting, followed by a hand-drawn illustration of a flower held together by countless threads, with a semi-transparent phantom above it, the meaning of which was unknown.
Harry stared at the name of the spell for a moment, puzzled.
"Im...peri...o?"
"What do you mean?"
He looked at the description again.
The description of this spell is also very vague, only stating in the training method section that "the caster needs to have the ability to perceive and uniquely understand the soul," and nothing else. Even the effect section only has one word: "control."
He was a little confused.
Just then, Hermione Granger walked over, and Harry casually asked about what had happened earlier:
"Hermione, do you know what an Auror is?"
Hermione looked surprised and raised her voice slightly: "You don't even know what an Auror is?"
Harry shook his head awkwardly: "Is this some kind of essential knowledge?"
"Of course!" Hermione stared at him wide-eyed. "Aurors are police officers in the Ministry of Magic, responsible for maintaining order throughout the wizarding world. Back when Void was running rampant, they were the main force in the resistance."
"My God, I never imagined you didn't know about Aurors. How can you plan your career and studies if you don't even know about this profession?"
"...I didn't think that much about it," Harry replied dryly.
"So, Aurors all use very advanced magic?"
"Of course, they only want the absolute best of the best! They only recruit one or two people every few years, making it a dream job for many outstanding students. I actually considered becoming an Auror, but then I thought..."
Harry thanked Hermione for her answer, but admittedly, listening to her incessant and stressful chatter was quite a challenge. By the end, Harry's thoughts had drifted away.
He looked at the spell called imperio and thought to himself:
Oh, that must be a very difficult advanced spell to master; only Aurors can guarantee its perfect execution.
Auror... that might be a good profession.
He's willing to consider it.
Harry thought this through, then glanced at Victor's letter again, confirming that it only stated "Do not use on people" and "Do not use publicly." He also checked the book to make sure the spell posed no danger during training, and thus decided—
Hmm, maybe I can try practicing with an insect or something in the future.
Moreover, this spell seems to only have a control effect; perhaps learning it would impress the professors.
……
"So you're planning to keep this book?"
As Ron left the auditorium, he touched his flying broom and asked a question.
"It looks like something from Slytherin, you know, anything associated with Slytherin is a bit weird. Professor McGonagall didn't seem to want you to study it last time."
"But it only contains curses, not some kind of dark magic..." Harry hesitated, looking around. "It should be fine, right?"
"Fred knows a lot of evil spells, and he says they're incredibly effective against Slytherins. Because Slytherins all know them too. I'm afraid if I don't learn them, Malfoy will use them against us later."
Ron thought for a while and was persuaded by Harry.
"That's true. Fred does know those spells that make people's tongues grow longer, and he got a scolding from his mother for it during summer vacation. If it's just those kinds of spells, it shouldn't be a big deal."
"Actually, the spell you used to summon the snake last time was not bad, it's just that snakes are too unlucky. It would have been better if you could have used a lion instead."
"...Summoning the lion Malfoy killed him," Harry said speechlessly. "But don't worry, I didn't know that last time, and I definitely won't learn anything related to Slytherin now."
Yes, Harry still doesn't like Slytherin.
It wasn't because Slytherin students were ruthless in pursuing their goals, nor because of their family magic (to be honest, he was a little envious), he was just disgusted by their stupid pure-blood theory.
Oh, and of course, there's the annoying Snape and Malfoy.
As soon as Harry walked to a corner, wanting to look at the flying broomsticks with Ron, Malfoy appeared before him with his two little henchmen.
"Look at this, what's this?" Malfoy said sarcastically. "Harry Potter and his flying broomstick! Ha! You know first-year students aren't allowed to bring flying broomsticks, right?"
