Chapter 373, Chapter 370: Sirius Black, the Dog-Meat-Scented Star
This evening was quite enjoyable for every young wizard.
Harry and his two friends arrived at the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, only to find a large crowd gathered there.
"Why don't they go in?" Ron asked curiously.
Just as Harry and Hermione were completely bewildered, Percy, wearing an armband, hurriedly led a group of disciplinary committee members on duty that day into the crowd.
"Get out of the way! Your crowding here will only prevent us from solving anything," Percy shouted. He and his men struggled to squeeze into the center of the crowd and finally saw what was happening.
Percy fell silent. He didn't say anything about resolving the situation. It seemed that the problem was beyond the control of the students, or rather, the students other than Lynn.
"Go! Send someone to find Professor Dumbledore! And Chairman Belloc!"
He shouted shrilly.
At this moment, Harry and his friends finally saw what had happened.
"Oh my God!" Hermione exclaimed.
The portrait at the entrance to Gryffindor was violently vandalized, and thoroughly so. The entire portrait was torn to shreds, and the original Fat Lady in the portrait has disappeared. I wonder how she is doing now.
Dumbledore and Lynn soon came over together.
Their steps were quick, indicating that they knew the situation was urgent.
Lynn stroked his chin and pretended to ponder the torn portrait, as if trying to guess who the culprit might be, but in reality, he knew very well who had done it.
Dumbledore also frowned as he looked at the damaged portrait. Not long after, Professor McGonagall also hurriedly arrived at the scene.
"We need to find her. Professor McGonagall, please go to Mr. Filch immediately and tell him to search every portrait in the castle."
Just as Dumbledore was giving orders, a chuckling voice suddenly rang out in the corridor.
"Good luck to you."
"It's Pipi Ghost," he said happily, peeking into the crowd.
As usual, he feels very happy when he sees others worried or when he sees disaster.
"What do you mean by this, Pikachu?" Lynn asked, looking at Pikachu floating in mid-air. His voice was soft and gentle, but Pikachu seemed to only notice Lynn after he spoke, and its face immediately turned transparent with panic.
His instinct was to run away, but his entire body was completely frozen and he couldn't move.
This student was a nightmare for Mischievous Ghost; he would never forget that period of his life, those days when he was "crushed and molded" by a pair of merciless hands.
"She, she's in such a sorry state, Mr. Bellok, she's practically a mess. I saw her running around in the feng shui painting on the fourth floor, hiding in the woods, and crying out something in a very sad way." Pikachu stammered as he described the fat lady's current condition.
The students watching were both surprised and somewhat taken for granted.
The surprise comes from the fact that Mischievous Ghost, who is usually fearless, actually has someone he's afraid of. The reason for this is that the person is Lynn, which makes it seem less strange.
"Did she say who did it?" Lynn asked quietly.
"Oh yes, she really was shouting it nonstop." Pippi rubbed his hands together, behaving more obediently than any of the students in the castle.
"She wouldn't let him in, and he was furious, you know! That guy has a terrible temper, it's Sirius Black!"
The moment the name was uttered, the entire corridor fell silent.
Ten minutes later, Dumbledore sent all the Gryffindor students back to the Great Hall, and at the same time, he sent Percy with all the disciplinary committee members to the other three houses to notify them to return to the Great Hall as well.
Only Lynn and Dumbledore remained in the corridor, carefully searching for any remaining clues near the Gryffindor common room.
"Are you sure Sirius is innocent?" Dumbledore asked.
Lynn shrugged. "It's deduced. Now that we've discovered Pettigrew is a Death Eater, Sirius Black, who fought him to the death, definitely wasn't Voldemort's subordinate. One of them must be a Death Eater, and the other was seeking revenge for the Potters. Since we can confirm that Pettigrew is a Death Eater, then Sirius Black has been framed."
Before the start of the semester, Lynn only told Dumbledore that he suspected Ron's pet rat was an illegal Animagus, and most likely a Death Eater.
However, it did not fully explain the whole story of Little Pettigrew and Sirius.
Even prophets with exceptional prophetic abilities cannot make such accurate predictions.
If Lynn tells everyone he knows, how can he explain how he knows all of this?
Tom simply said that he noticed something was wrong with Scabbers through keen observation, which was just right. Not long after school started, Tom perfectly proved in front of Dumbledore that Scabbers was Peter Pettigrew.
Knowing this, even if Sirius doesn't personally step forward to explain himself, Dumbledore, with his intelligence, can deduce that Sirius isn't the villain who betrayed Harry's parents.
After a fruitless search, Dumbledore and Lynn walked together toward the Great Hall.
"Whether he's guilty or not, we have to arrest him now. That's the only safest course of action," Dumbledore concluded.
Lynn nodded in deep agreement.
He thought of the big black dog he encountered in Hogsmeade yesterday. He really needed to catch Sirius Black first—no, he should protect him.
Otherwise, if one day a "dog lover" were to encounter it, who knows if Harry's godfather would end up in someone's stomach.
That turned into a tragedy, and in the end, Harry could only cry and call for his father to a pile of excrement.
But then again, if you cut off Sirius's leg when he turned into a dog and tasted it, would it still taste like dog meat?
Regardless of what Lynn and Dumbledore believe Sirius is innocent, Hogwarts must prioritize student safety until mainstream magical opinion clears his name.
Although it was only Gryffindor House that was attacked, all the students at Hogwarts will not be able to go back to their dormitories to sleep tonight.
Dumbledore arranged nearly a thousand sleeping bags in the Great Hall and placed them there. He then dispatched all the professors, as well as the sixth and seventh-year students from the Disciplinary Committee, to patrol the castle in pairs throughout the night.
At the same time, Snape went to Dumbledore and started tattling.
