Chapter 198, Section 195: Complex Emotions
"wizard!"
Vernon shouted, his face turning ashen like a rotten orange. He strode forward, trying to push Lynn out the door.
"We don't welcome people like you! Please leave! Or I'll call the police!"
Lynn's size was as different from Vernon's as that of a tennis ball and a football, but no matter how hard Vernon pressed on his shoulder, Lynn didn't budge and even smiled as he spoke.
"Of course you can call the police, that's your right. But if I may be so bold, if Muggle police have any power over wizards, then what is the Ministry of Magic doing?"
"That's right, the Ministry of Magic!" Lynn's words reminded Vernon, who stared with his round little eyes and pressed both hands on Lynn's shoulders.
"The Ministry of Magic forbids students from using magic outside of school. If you dare to use it, you will be expelled!"
"Why would I use magic on you?" Lynn lightly punched his stomach.
Vernon immediately felt as if he had been hit by a cannonball, and his body was thrown backward uncontrollably.
"Bang!"
He flew two or three meters before crashing heavily back onto the floor.
"Vernon (Dad)!" Aunt Penny and Dudley exclaimed and rushed over.
Vernon's face had turned a deep purplish-red, clearly indicating that Lynn's punch had caused him considerable damage.
Lynn straightened his shirt, which had been slightly disheveled by his grasp, and asked with a gentle smile.
"Well, Mr. Dursley, I assure you I won't use magic. Can we get down to business now?"
Because Lynn showed absolute "sincerity," he was invited by the Dursleys to sit down at the dinner table.
Their expressions were not pleasant; after all, anyone who had just lost a big deal would be in a bad mood having to entertain an uninvited guest.
"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, there's no need for such an awkward look. I've come to visit you not to make things difficult for you, but to help you."
Aunt Petunia and Vernon remained silent, and Dudley was also sent away by them. After the incident with Hagrid last year, they dared not let Dudley meet with other wizards again.
Who knows if he'll get angry and conjure up a pig's tail behind Dali's butt again.
Lynn didn't care about their attitude; he had anticipated this situation before he came.
"I know you don't like your nephew Harry Potter, so the reason I'm here is that Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts, has asked me to take him away from here and get him out of your lives."
Lynn heard a sudden sound of something falling from the other side of the stairs; he knew it was Harry eavesdropping upstairs.
Upon hearing the news, Aunt Penny and Vernon did not show any joy; on the contrary, their expressions became even more unpleasant.
"You have no right! Harry is my sister's son! He should stay in our house!"
Aunt Penny screamed.
It's a contradictory phenomenon: they hate Harry, yet they don't want him to leave.
"Do you even know anything about child support laws, kid!" Even Vernon glared at Lynn, his eyes red. "We're his only family, and supporting him is our legal obligation!"
"That's Muggle law, and Harry has always been a wizard, governed by magical laws, not anything else."
Lynn didn't want to linger here any longer, so he said it directly.
"I'm not here to negotiate with you, but to take Harry away directly. No matter what your attitude is, it won't change the outcome. Of course, you did raise him for twelve years, and today is his twelfth birthday. You have the right to ask Professor Dumbledore for compensation, but that's not my concern. I expect the professor will come to you on his own."
"Harry!" Lynn called upstairs.
Harry immediately peeked out from around the corner of the stairs, his head twitching excitedly.
"Can I pack my things now, Lynn?"
Lynn had originally intended to go through the proper procedures and ask Harry's opinion, but now it seemed that the procedures were obviously unnecessary. Harry couldn't wait to sprout wings and fly away from here.
"Of course, how long will it take you?"
"It'll be quick, just five minutes!"
After Harry finished speaking, he turned and ran to his room, while Lynn watched the Dursleys in the living room.
"This is Professor Dumbledore's idea, so you understand, you can't change anything."
"Where will he live?" Penny's voice choked with emotion.
Lynn shrugged and said, "A wizarding family. Harry Potter is very famous in the wizarding world. Most wizards in Britain like him very much, so he will live very well there."
Penny and Vernon both fell silent, and the living room became unusually quiet.
"Think about it, this is good for you too. Haven't you always wanted to avoid anything to do with wizards and magic? Once Harry is gone, you can be completely free. Unless another wizard appears in your lineage, everything in the wizarding world will no longer have anything to do with you."
Lynn's method of comforting her wasn't sophisticated, but it was still a word of comfort.
Harry packed quickly. He didn't have much to pack anyway. He hadn't opened his suitcase much since returning from Hogwarts. He just needed to put some daily necessities in and he could just pull it along.
Lynn and Harry prepared to leave.
Aren't you going to see him off?
Neither the Dursleys got up nor spoke.
Harry tugged at Lynn's arm, and Lynn knew what he meant, but still spoke to him.
Say goodbye to your aunt and uncle. They raised you to be twelve years old, and they didn't raise you badly.
Harry, who was about to be free, did not show any resentment towards the Dursleys. He turned around earnestly and thanked them.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in the future.
After saying that, he didn't look at Penny and Vernon's expressions again, and turned to leave with Lynn.
After they left, Penny covered her face with her hands and began to sob softly. Vernon stood beside her, holding a tissue and sighing, unsure how to comfort her.
Once outside the Dursleys' house, Harry was as excited as a bird released from its cage.
He immediately released Hedwig, who was almost suffocating in the cage, so that it could finally soar freely in the sky.
"Why don't Aunt Penny and the others want me to leave, even though they hate me so much?"
Harry asked, puzzled.
Lynn shrugged. "People are complicated. They hate you because of magic, but no matter what, you lost your mother and she lost her only sister. They still have feelings for you, but those feelings are complicated. They're incomprehensible, even a bit abnormally complicated."
