Chapter 199, Section 196: In the Humble Abode (Two Chapters Combined)
Harry never felt the kind of affection the Dursleys had for him that Lynn spoke of.
He was already very satisfied to have escaped from that prison-like place.
"Where will I live from now on? Hogwarts?" Harry asked eagerly.
He's fine with going anywhere as long as he doesn't have to stay here.
"No, Professor Dumbledore has arranged another place for you. Don't worry, you'll like it there."
Lynn glanced at the other address in his hand and snapped his fingers lightly.
"Kira".
A sound like a whip cracking rang out, and Kira appeared before Lynn, bowing low.
"This is my house-elf, Kira, and this is Harry Potter."
He introduced the two to each other.
"Hello, Mr. Potter. My young master mentioned you at home." Kira was neither servile nor arrogant towards anyone other than Lynn. It had served Grindelwald for a time and didn't care much about Harry's reputation.
"Hello, Kira."
Anyway, Harry was a little surprised. After greeting Kira, he turned to Lynn and asked.
"Lynn, aren't you from a Muggle family? Why do you have house-elves in your house?"
"I grew up in a Muggle orphanage, and it wasn't until Kira found me that I learned my parents were also wizards," Lynn explained simply, then pointed to a location on the map and said to Kira.
"Let's stop here for now."
The Weasleys' Burrow is located in the village of Ottley-St. Catchbourne in Devon, a place inhabited not only by the Weasleys, a pure-blood family, but also by the Lovegood and Fawcett wizarding families.
The Diggory family, also known as the Cedric family, also lived nearby, though they were several miles away from this Muggle village.
Lynn thought that after sending Harry to the Weasleys, he could also visit the Cedric family.
During Lynn's absence from England, he wrote many letters to Lynn, most of which were complaints about why he and Ian didn't reply to his letters, how bored he was at home, and how he spent his days staring at slugs, etc.
Kira Apparated with Lynn and Harry to a place in Devonshire, some distance from the Burrow.
"We're on our way to Ron's house!" Harry knew where Devonshire was; in his memory, only Ron had mentioned this place to him, telling him that his family lived there.
Lynn did not deny it: "Yes, the Weasleys are willing to adopt you, but you know their financial situation. Raising so many children is already difficult enough, and adding you would only make things more difficult. So Professor Dumbledore paid them a sum of money for your upbringing. You should also try to buy your own school supplies at Hogwarts with your own money in the future."
"Of course I can," Harry said excitedly. "Actually, Professor Dumbledore doesn't need to pay that child support; I can pay it myself. My parents left me a large sum of money."
"I know you're rich, but try not to show this kind of thing in the Weasleys' house," Lynn taught Harry some basic manners.
The fact that this child hasn't gone astray despite not being properly raised in the Dursleys' household proves that he's not inherently bad. Lynn doesn't mind teaching him a few things.
"Why?" Harry asked, puzzled. "They're willing to help me, shouldn't I use my own money to help them?"
"Do you still want to be friends with Ron?"
"Of course I want to."
"So when you were at the Weasleys' house, you treated yourself like they were, forgetting the inheritance your parents left you in Gringotts." They weren't far from the Burrow anymore, and Lynn slowed his pace to patiently explain to Harry.
"You'll all be living under the same roof from now on, and it's certainly a good thing that you're willing to use your own money to help them. But this will show that you're different from them. Harry and Ron will feel the difference between them, the Weasleys might feel that you're giving them charity, and others like George and Fred will feel uncomfortable. This will make your relationship a bit delicate, and I don't think you want your future living place to become like that, do you?"
Harry listened, seemingly understanding but not quite. He knew that Lynn was saying everything for his own good and that it was all true. However, at his age, he didn't understand why, or rather, he didn't understand the complexities of human nature.
"So, aside from buying my own school supplies, I won't use the money my parents left me?"
"These things aren't absolute. If you want to help the Weasleys, you can help them in a more subtle way. For example, you can carefully observe what they need and want most in the meantime, and give each of them a suitable gift at Christmas. Remember, the gifts shouldn't be too expensive. Or, you can give the Weasleys' little sister a new dress when the new school term starts, and say it's a gift from you, as their older brother, for your first meeting with her."
Harry listened intently, almost to the point of writing down everything Lynn said in a notebook.
Lynn's image in Harry's mind became incredibly lofty. He had witnessed Lynn's many deeds during the previous semester, especially after Lynn captured Voldemort at the end of the semester, and he already admired him greatly. Now that Lynn had taken him out of the Dursleys' house and was teaching him these things, Harry felt much closer to Lynn.
So Harry didn't hide anything and told Lynn about what he had been worried about all along: the Ministry of Magic had framed Dobby for using magic, and he anxiously asked if he would be expelled from Hogwarts because of it.
Lynn tilted his head back and thought for a moment.
"Actually, this is quite simple to resolve. You're currently living with the Weasleys and are willing to help them. Don't be shy about asking the Weasleys for help when you need it yourself. I remember Ron's father is an official in the Ministry of Magic?"
Harry nodded like a chick pecking at rice.
"He works at the Ministry of Magic, but I don't know his specific position."
"You can take this warning letter to Mr. Weasley and tell him the whole story. He can take you to the Ministry of Magic to check your wand and we'll know whether you used magic or not. He'll help you prove your innocence. Besides, it was the Ministry of Magic's mistake. You can even demand compensation from them for your emotional distress, or threaten them to write a letter to the Daily Prophet to report this scandal."
Lynn gave a wicked grin.
"There's a reporter in the Daily Prophet named Rita Skeeter. Just write to her; I think she'll be very excited and happy to help you with this."
In just one morning, Harry developed an extraordinary sense of trust in Lynn.
Because no one had ever taught him these things, even though they were only a year apart in age, Harry felt that Lynn was all-knowing.
"Oh, right, Harry." Lynn suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Harry was taken aback: "What's wrong?"
Lynn rummaged in his pocket and finally pulled out two gift boxes, which he handed to Harry.
"Happy birthday, Harry. This is a birthday present for you, and the other one is from Hermione. She asked me to apologize for not being able to come and give you my birthday wishes in person."
Harry took the two gift boxes from Lynn's hands in a daze, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Thank you, Lynn." He sniffed and wiped his eyes with his sleeve. "This is the second and third birthday gift I've ever received in my life. I'm really grateful that you remembered my birthday."
Lynn patted him on the shoulder: "What's with all the crying? You'll have a better life from now on. I'm very gifted at prophecy, believe me."
Although he was a member of the Grindelwald family, Lynn did not inherit any of Gellert's prophetic talent. His initial prophetic talent value was zero, which meant that he could not even add points to it.
This statement is based entirely on Lynn's reading of the original work and his judgment of the future.
Harry isn't truly without any relatives in the wizarding world; he still has his godfather, the big black dog, lurking in Azkaban. Once Sirius Black's case is overturned and Voldemort poses no threat, Harry's future will undoubtedly get better and better.
"Can I take them apart and see them?" Harry asked.
"sure."
Lynn gave Harry a small golden ball with wings, a model of the Golden Snitch from Quidditch, while Hermione, unsurprisingly, gave him a book, a guide on how to maintain her flying broomstick.
He sincerely thanked them, saying, "I really like the items, thank you so much."
Lynn helped him push another luggage cart and led the way.
"Alright, stop dawdling. The Weasleys are probably getting impatient with us."
They quickly located the Weasleys' Burrow.
This place has clearly been cursed with a Muggle banishment spell; apart from wizards, almost no one else would notice this extremely illogical building.
The Burrow is a crooked, four-story building. Normal buildings would never be constructed like this; it's clearly built with magic.
Outside the slanted building is a large garden, with trees twining around the base of the wall, overgrown weeds and excessive turf, and a pond in the middle.
Next to the garden was a shed that looked like a garage, and I don’t know what was inside.
The Weasleys' house didn't really resemble a proper magical castle; it was more like a strange farmhouse, with a flock of fat chickens even living in their yard.
However, Harry was very interested in all of this and praised it.
"This looks like a good place."
Harry's little luggage cart was already struggling to move around on this bumpy terrain, but thankfully, Kira had used a levitation charm on the suitcase before leaving, which lightened its weight.
"Did they know I was coming today?" Harry asked.
Lynn put the parchment away and nodded in reply.
"I think Professor Dumbledore must have made arrangements with them in advance. If we go in now, we can probably get a free lunch."
As they were talking, a red-haired boy suddenly came out of the Burrow. He looked very reluctant and kept muttering complaints like, "Why me? George and the others are all free."
"Ron!" Harry called out excitedly to his friend.
Ron heard the noise, turned around and saw Harry and Lynn, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Harry! What are you doing here!"
Harry turned to look at Lynn, who shrugged at him, indicating that he didn't know what was going on either.
"Didn't Professor Dumbledore tell your parents? He told me I'd be living with you from now on," Harry explained.
Ron's face was immediately filled with immense surprise.
He exclaimed excitedly, "Is this for real? Mom's been saying there'd be a surprise today! I never expected it to be like this! Why haven't you written to me these past few days, Harry? I was so worried..."
Just as Harry was about to explain to Ron, Lynn coughed lightly.
"I'm saying, Harry, even though we'll be family from now on, I'm still a guest. Won't you invite me in for a bit, Ron?"
Ron only noticed Lynn at this moment, and he seemed a little afraid of him, so he hurriedly said something.
"I'm sorry, Mom asked me to come out to check if the guests had arrived. The guests she was talking about must be you. Today, she unusually slaughtered a chicken and cooked a whole table of dishes just to entertain you."
Ron led them into the Burrow, where the Weasleys were in the living room. When they saw Harry and Lynn enter, the whole group immediately stood up.
"Welcome to the Weasleys, boy." The very kind-looking Mrs. Weasley gave Harry a hug first.
She also saw Lynn next to Harry: "Welcome, Lynn too. Dumbledore told me earlier that he appreciates you taking him out of his aunt's house."
Lynn gave a slight bow: "No need to be so polite, Mrs. Weasley."
The Weasleys were very welcoming; Mr. Weasley even took a day off from the Ministry of Magic to stay home and welcome Harry and Lynn.
The Weasleys' kitchen was too small to accommodate so many people, so they used magic to move the table and food to the garden, where they ate lunch.
Not only was there a sumptuous meal, but Mrs. Weasley had also prepared a large cake beforehand, apparently knowing from Dumbledore that it was Harry's birthday.
It's likely that choosing this day to pick Harry up from his aunt's house was part of Dumbledore's plan.
Harry was having a good time chatting with Ron and the Weasleys, while George and Fred had Lynn sandwiched in the middle.
"I can't believe it, Lynn, that Professor Dumbledore would entrust you with the task of picking Harry up from his aunt's house," George said in surprise.
"We haven't noticed any interaction between you and Professor Dumbledore at school. You're definitely hiding something from us." Fred stared intently at Lynn.
Mrs. Weasley's cooking is really good, Lynn said, answering the twins' questions while eating the smoked meat.
"Alright, I'll come clean. Actually, Professor Dumbledore is my long-lost relative. I've been hiding my past relationship with him because I didn't want you to treat me with special eyes."
George and Fred exchanged a glance, looking at him with disdain.
"Stop trying to fool people. Everyone knows that Professor Dumbledore has always lived alone."
Lynn sighed. He always managed to convince people with his usual lies, but now that he had finally said something that seemed somewhat true, people thought he was just bluffing.
