Mu Siwan buried her head in her food for a while, then gradually slowed down.

The portion is too large.

She ate half a bowl of rice, a few pieces of pork ribs, and half a portion of braised pork; her stomach was already bursting. The remaining half was neatly arranged in her thermos.

She put down her chopsticks, intending to put them away.

"Finished eating?"

Bo Yan walked over at some point and stood next to her.

She looked up.

"Okay, let's keep the rest for now and reheat it at lunchtime."

He nodded.

Then he sat down next to her, picked up the chopsticks she had put down, and put a piece of pork rib into his mouth.

Mu Siwan was stunned.

"This..." she pointed to the bowl of rice, "I've already eaten from it."

Bo Yantou didn't even lift his head.

"What's wrong?"

In a defiant manner, he picked up another piece of food with his chopsticks.

Mu Siwan looked at him, unsure of what to say.

Bo Yan finished chewing what was in his mouth and turned his head to look at her.

Their eyes met.

He raised an eyebrow.

"We've done everything intimately," he said casually, "why are you still bothered by this?"

Mu Siwan met his meaningful gaze.

Intimate matters.

They've done everything they can.

Suddenly, the scene from that night flashed through her mind—he was leading her, down little by little, the snake slithering beneath her fingertips in the darkness, his breath hot against her ear.

It's clear that we didn't go all the way that night.

But for some reason, it was more... than ever before.

My hands started to get hot.

Mu Siwan quickly looked away.

"I'm going to work on some documents." She stood up, trying to keep her voice steady. "You can leave after you finish eating."

Bo Yan watched her retreating figure, a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.

Not bad, at least he's finally showing some human emotions.

Mu Siwan walked to the lab bench, sat down, opened the document in front of her, stared at the words on it, and couldn't concentrate on it for a long time.

I could hear the occasional sound of chopsticks hitting the side of a bowl behind me.

She didn't turn around.

But those hands were still burning hot.

-

It was 5:30 in the morning, and the sky was still not fully light.

Xiao Qin tiptoed into the forensic lab, carrying two cups of hot soy milk, intending to relieve her supervisor.

The door opened a crack.

She was stunned.

At the workbench, Mu Siwan was asleep, her breathing even. She was draped in a dark gray men's suit jacket, which made her look like a tiny ball curled up.

A few steps away, a man leaned against a workbench.

He wore a matching shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. The white light from the lab enveloped him, making his features appear as striking as if he'd stepped out of a magazine. He was tilting his head, looking in the direction of her mentor, when he heard the noise and slowly shifted his gaze towards her.

Xiao Qin met those eyes.

Gentle, carefree, as if not yet pulled out of some kind of emotion.

Then he raised his hand, his fingertips touching his lips.

He gestured for her to speak softly.

Xiao Qin froze on the spot, her heart skipping a beat.

—It's that man from the restaurant yesterday.

He looks even more handsome up close.

—He's almost too handsome.

She covered her mouth, forcing the scream back down her throat, and spoke excitedly in a low voice.

"You're my master?"

Bo Yan's eyebrows twitched.

Master?

He glanced at her, then at Mu Siwan, who was sleeping face down.

"...Master?"

Xiao Qin nodded frantically, pointing to herself, then to him, and explained in a low voice, "I... I'm Master's disciple, so I call her Master. Of course, I call you Grandmaster!"

Bo Yan looked down at Mu Siwan.

Master.

He never imagined that one day he would be called that by such a gossipy and excited tone.

The strange thing is...

Surprisingly, it was somewhat...pleasant.

Bo Yan withdrew his gaze and gave a faint "hmm".

He tried to press the corners of his mouth down, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

-

At 8:30 in the morning, the sunlight slanted in through the window.

The forensic lab was no longer lit by the stark white light of the early morning; instead, it was bathed in a warm glow. Beams of light fell on the worktable, on her, and on the dark gray suit she was wearing.

Mu Siwan's eyelashes fluttered.

She slowly opened her eyes.

The sunlight was a bit too bright, so she squinted and instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes, but then she felt something sliding down her body.

Suit.

Dark gray, for men.

She glanced down at it, then looked up again at the suit jacket.

Bo Yan was still leaning in the same spot. He wore a gray shirt with the cuffs rolled up, and the sunlight fell on his profile, softening his weariness.

He was looking down at his phone when he heard the noise and looked up.

Eyes facing each other.

Mu Siwan blinked, looking bewildered.

"I fell asleep? How long did I sleep?"

Her voice was still hoarse from just waking up.

Bo Yan glanced down at the time.

It's 8:30 in the morning.

Mu Siwan was stunned for a moment.

8:30.

She slept... for almost four hours?

She looked up at him.

"Have you... stayed here the whole time?"

Bo Yan looked at her calmly.

"No," he said. "At three in the morning, I was just idly driving around Beijing's Second Ring Road twice."

No sooner had he finished speaking than an excited voice suddenly came from the side.

"No! My master has been guarding this place the whole time! He hasn't left even for a moment!"

Xiao Qin came over at some point, her eyes shining like light bulbs, and she was still clutching the two cups of soy milk that had gone cold.

Mu Siwan turned to look at her.

Xiao Qin met her gaze and nodded frantically, his expression exaggerated as if he had just tasted some incredible sweetness.

Mu Siwan turned back to look at Bo Yan.

He leaned there, his face expressionless, except for a slight smile at the corner of his mouth.

Sunlight fell between the two people.

Mu Siwan lowered her eyes, picked up the suit, folded it, and placed it on the table.

"Thanks."

The voice was very solemn.

Bo Yan put his hands in his pockets and said casually, "You're welcome."

It's just a husband's duty.

Xiao Qin watched this scene from the side, covering her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.

She took a deep breath and finally remembered what she was doing.

"Master! You and your master should go back first!" She patted her chest. "I'll take care of the rest of the work, don't worry!"

Mu Siwan looked at her.

"How long have you been here?"

"I just arrived, I'm full of energy!" Xiao Qin pushed her towards the door, "You've been up all night, go back and get some sleep. Master, you should take Master back too!"

Bo Yan didn't say anything more, picked up the suit and walked out.

He stopped at the door and glanced back at Mu Siwan.

"Are you coming or not?"

Mu Siwan stood still, meeting his gaze.

Sunlight streamed in from outside, outlining his silhouette with a warm hue.

She lifted her foot and followed.

Standing in the forensic room, Xiao Qin watched the two figures disappear one after the other at the end of the corridor, and finally couldn't help but jump up and down twice.

I've hit it! I've hit it! I've hit it!

-

The corridor was quiet, with only the sound of two people's footsteps, one in front of the other.

Mu Siwan walked slightly behind him, watching the man's back. He wore a gray shirt with crisp shoulders, and his gait remained as languid as ever.

But she noticed that he raised his hand and gently pinched the back of his neck.

She quickened her pace and walked to his side.

"I'll drive back."

Bo Yan turned his head to look at her.

"you?"

"Yes." She nodded. "You look tired."

Bo Yan paused in his steps.

exhausted?

He was so angry with her that he couldn't sleep most of the night. He went out at three in the morning and inexplicably ended up in the forensic room, where he stayed up all night watching over some heartless person. In between, he even took the time to drive around Beijing's Second Ring Road twice—of course, that was fake.

But I definitely didn't sleep.

Bo Yan looked down at her and suddenly spoke in a rather frivolous manner.

"What's wrong?" he asked slowly. "Feeling sorry for me?"

Mu Siwan was stunned for a moment.

distressed?

She thought carefully about the meaning of the word, and then about their relationship.

Feeling sorry for someone should fall under the category of emotions.

There shouldn't be such a scope between them.

She looked up, met his gaze, and explained earnestly.

"No," she said. "Driving while fatigued is a traffic violation and can easily cause accidents."

Bo Yan: "..."
