Slow to mature after marriage
Chapter 23 is missing.
It was almost eleven o'clock when Bo Yan got home.
A floor lamp was left on in the living room, casting a dim, yellowish glow. Grace, curled up on the sofa armrest, raised her head at the sound and flicked her tongue.
He changed his shoes and glanced over there.
Mu Siwan curled up on the sofa, still clutching a few bones in her hands, her breathing even. The silk scarf had been untied and draped over the other end of the sofa, the hickeys left last night still clearly visible on her collarbone.
He loosened his tie, trying to get rid of the smell of alcohol on him.
This afternoon's drinking party was organized by Xu Qishan. Hearing that he was going on another business trip, a few of them got together for a drink.
After a few rounds of drinks, Xu Qishan stared at his neck for a long time, then suddenly laughed.
"Bo Yan, what's that on your neck?"
He glanced down at it.
A faint scratch mark ran down from his Adam's apple and disappeared into his collar.
"Leftovers from sex." He glared at me irritably. "What? You haven't done it?"
Xu Qishan raised an eyebrow: "Young Master Bo, aren't you someone who doesn't talk about relationships? How come your life with your sister-in-law has been unusually passionate these past few weeks since you returned to China?"
fiery?
Bo Yan sneered.
A hot egg.
The next morning, he put on his pants and didn't recognize anyone. When he heard that he was going on a business trip, he didn't even lift an eyelid.
Even the wind blowing from Siberia wasn't as cold as someone's.
Zhou Qishen chimed in, "You look so pale, can't bear to leave your wife alone in this cold cave?"
"A cold cave?" Bo Yan raised an eyebrow. "Even if your sister-in-law lives alone, she can only guard a gold mine."
Besides, what is there to be reluctant about?
He should be thanking his lucky stars that bones will finally stop popping out of the corners of the house.
-
Bo Yan walked over and was about to pick her up when Mu Siwan suddenly opened her eyes.
She looked at him, her eyes still a little sleepy, and it took her half a second to recognize who was in front of her.
"You're back?"
He hummed in agreement, sat down beside her, and reached up to unbutton the top two buttons of his shirt. The collar was open, revealing his Adam's apple and a faint scratch on his collarbone. He leaned back on the sofa, his posture relaxed, the floor lamp outlining his handsome profile.
Several bones were laid out on the coffee table, some already put back together, others still scattered.
He glanced at it.
"What are you competing for?"
Mu Siwan followed his gaze and paused.
"A pig's skull," she said. "A semi-finished product; I'm still missing a few pieces."
Bo Yan stared at the pile of bones for two seconds, then looked at her.
He said that once he went to America, these strange bones would finally stop popping up from some nook and cranny.
He forced a half-smile and instinctively reached out to pull her up: "Let's go upstairs to sleep."
She moved to the side, avoiding his hand.
Bo Yan stared at his empty hand and looked up at her.
"You hugged, slept, and kissed me last night, and now you're turning your back on me?"
Mu Siwan stood up straight and straightened the hem of her clothes.
"That was fulfilling marital obligations; this is daily life together. The nature is different."
She turned and went upstairs.
Bo Yan stood still, his hands in his pockets, staring at the woman's departing figure.
He knew she was right.
He shouldn't be trying to get close to her outside of his duty hours.
But the problem is—he thought.
This annoyed him.
He blamed it on last night.
I just started eating meat, and my body hasn't adjusted yet, that's all.
This urge will naturally subside after spending some time in the United States.
-
The next morning, Mu Siwan woke up in bed and found that the other side of the bed was clean and flat, without a single wrinkle.
He didn't go back to his room to sleep last night.
Mu Siwan didn't think much of it, assuming it was just because she was too busy with work.
When I went downstairs, Aunt Chen had already set out breakfast.
"Madam, where is Mr. Bo?"
"I went to the United States on a business trip."
Aunt Chen paused for a moment, then her tone softened with pity: "Will it take a long time again?"
Mu Siwan sat down at the dining table and picked up her chopsticks.
He said he would only stay for half a month.
Aunt Chen nodded, asked no more questions, and turned to go into the kitchen.
-
On Saturday morning, Mu Siwan was drawing in the living room. Grace was curled up at her feet, her head resting on her knees, quietly flicking her tongue.
She made two strokes and then stopped.
It's too quiet at home.
In the past, on Saturdays and Sundays, Bo Yan would come out of his study and come over to see what she was drawing.
He would occasionally ask a question, or sometimes just sit and watch without saying a word.
She is alone in the living room now.
She stared at the drawing paper for a while, then lowered her head and continued drawing.
It's not quite right, but it's still comfortable.
Being around Bo Yan isn't off-putting, but being alone is also quite nice.
-
In the afternoon, my phone rang.
Xu Ruolin's name popped up on the screen.
Mu Siwan glanced at it and answered the call.
"Siwan, are you free this weekend? Come back and have dinner with Bo Yan."
Mu Siwan paused.
"He went to America."
The other end of the phone went quiet.
"Bo Yan went to America again?" Xu Ruolin's tone changed. "How long will he be gone? Did he find you boring and go back to America again? How many times have I told you to change your cold attitude? In a normal marriage, who can stand your cold personality? Now your dad's company..."
"It's just a normal business trip," Mu Siwan interrupted her expressionlessly.
"Oh..." Xu Ruolin's tone shifted, returning to her motherly demeanor, "So, when he went on his business trip, did you still keep in touch?"
Mu Siwan glanced at her phone screen.
The WeChat chat window is still stuck three years ago.
【You and Bo Yan are already friends, come chat with us!】
To be precise, they are completely unrelated.
Xu Ruolin continued, "If you can get in touch with Bo Yan, see if you can talk to him about it—Yanhe International has a project that's quite suitable for your dad's company..."
really.
Mu Siwan lowered her eyes.
"Unable to contact."
She pressed the hang-up button.
She put her phone back on the coffee table.
Grace lifted her head from beside her feet and rubbed against her palm.
She looked down and patted its head.
The living room fell silent again.
She continued drawing. The pen tip touched the paper, the scratching sound filling the small space.
After drawing for a while, she stopped and glanced at her phone screen.
Xu Ruolin sent a series of messages.
Mu Siwan turned her phone over, unaffected, and continued drawing.
-
After finishing the last stroke, she put down her pen and stretched her wrists.
Grace was already asleep, curled up at her feet, her head buried in her body.
She glanced at her phone.
The screen was still lit. The last message read: "Siwan, Mom is doing this for your own good. Think it over carefully."
She flipped her phone over, unlocked it, and opened the chat window.
Xu Ruolin posted dozens of messages. From "Listen to Mom" to "Why are you like this?" to "I'm doing this for your own good," to "If your dad's company goes bankrupt, will you be okay?"
She slid down one by one.
Finally, it stopped at the very top.
It's about thin inkstones.
"If you can get in touch with Bo Yan, please help us. We've raised you for so many years, you should be grateful."
She stared at the line of text for a few seconds.
Then open another dialog box.
【You and Bo Yan are already friends, come chat with us!】
It's still stuck in the past three years.
She stared at the gray text, her finger hovering over the screen for a moment.
Then exit.
Go upstairs, take a shower, and go to sleep.
