Slow to mature after marriage

Chapter 24 Unfamiliar Couple

On Monday morning, as soon as Mu Siwan sat down at her workstation, Xiao Qin brought her a coffee over.

"Master! Master!"

Mu Siwan looked up at her.

Xiao Qin's eyes lit up, and she lowered her voice to ask, "Does Master like that suit?"

Mu Siwan paused for a moment.

She forgot.

The suit was still in the closet in the entryway, unopened. She waited for him in the living room on Friday night, then they started fulfilling their marital obligations, and then she forgot about it.

"He went to the United States on a business trip. He'll deliver it when he gets back."

Mu Siwan had no intention of discussing this matter with Bo Yan on WeChat.

First, a suit is not a corpse; it won't rot if left out for half a month.

Secondly, even if he did tell me, he wouldn't come back early.

-

New York, USA.

The meeting room was in complete chaos.

The American representative slammed his fist on the table, saying the funds had to be in place by next week. The CFO shrugged, indicating there wasn't enough liquid cash on hand. The legal counsel chimed in, adding that the contract terms had loopholes and needed to be renegotiated.

Bo Yan sat in the main seat and pinched the bridge of his nose.

My eardrum hurts.

He glanced out the window. The sky over New York was overcast, much like his mood.

The people below were still arguing. He couldn't be bothered to listen, so he took out his phone and opened WeChat.

I checked it out, but there wasn't any important news.

As if by some strange twist of fate, Bo Yan opened the chat window with Mu Siwan.

【You and Miss Mu have become friends. Come chat with us!】

He stared at the line of text for a few seconds.

The chat history is empty.

Three years.

Not a single one.

They truly are an unfamiliar couple.

He stayed in the United States for three days, and she didn't send him a single message.

Bo Yan should be satisfied.

—But the meeting room was too noisy.

It was making him annoyed.

Bo Yan put the phone face down on the table.

Look up.

The meeting room fell silent instantly.

"Are you done arguing?"

No one dared to speak.

He leaned back and tapped his fingers on the table.

"The American side wants money, the finance department has no money, and the legal department says there are problems with the contract." He looked at each one one by one. "You've been arguing for an hour, what's the result?"

The CFO forced himself to speak: "Mr. Bo, the accounts do indeed show—"

"No money in the account? Do you think I'm blind?" Bo Yan interrupted him. "What I want to hear isn't that there's no money in the account, but where the money is coming from."

The finance department shut up.

He turned to the American representative: "You want money, fine. But given the current progress of this project, tell me, why should I give you money?"

The American official opened his mouth but couldn't say anything.

He then looked at the legal department: "The contract has problems, revise it. Produce a solution within three days. If you can't revise it, find someone else to revise it."

The legal counsel nodded vigorously.

Bo Yan stood up, leaned on the conference table, and looked down at the group of people.

"I need a solution in three days. Where the money will come from, how it will be invested, how much will be invested, and how it will be recouped—make it all clear. If it's not clear, this project is off, and you can all go home."

He straightened up, picked up his phone, and walked out.

I walked to the door and stopped.

Look back.

"Also, bring your brains with you next time before the meeting. Arguing back and forth won't get you anywhere; it's just a waste of time."

The door closed.

The meeting room was so quiet you could hear someone breathing.

-

It was late at night in New York.

Bo Yan stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, twirling a mint in her hand, unpeeled. Outside, Manhattan was brightly lit, with cars weaving between skyscrapers like flowing ribbons of light.

There was a knock on the door twice.

"Come in."

Wang Jin pushed open the door and walked in, carrying a stack of documents.

"Mr. Bo, these documents need your signature."

Bo Yan turned around and sat down at his desk. Wang Jin spread out the documents, flipped through them page by page, and signed them.

"On the project side, the American side has softened their stance and is willing to wait another week," Wang Jin reported. "The financial cash flow plan has also been finalized, and it's going through..."

Bo Yan listened, occasionally asking a question.

Wang Jin answered them one by one.

After signing the document, Wang Jin put it away and stood still.

Bo Yan looked up at him.

"Is there anything else?"

Wang Jin hesitated for a moment.

"Mr. Bo, Mr. Mu—that is, your wife's adoptive father—has called several times in the past few days."

Bo Yan leaned back in his chair and didn't say anything.

Wang Jin continued, "He wanted to ask Yanhe International about their recent new project, whether he could... get a share of the profits."

Bo Yan chuckled.

"A share of the pie?" he asked slowly. "His current business is only hanging on by Yanhe. Even if you give him a share, can he handle it?"

Wang Jin did not respond.

Bo Yan twirled the peppermint candy in her hand.

"His appetite is bigger than his courage. He wants to eat meat, but he's afraid of burning his mouth."

He popped the mint into his mouth and chewed it.

"Tell him to settle last year's debt first."

Wang Jin nodded and was about to turn around.

"besides--"

Bo Yan raised his eyes, his tone becoming indifferent.

"Tell him to stop bothering my wife with this trivial matter."

He leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the lights outside the window.

"Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to keep up with the remaining mess at the Mu family, whether domestically or internationally."

Wang Jin paused for a moment, then replied "Understood" and left.

-

Mu Siwan originally thought that Xu Ruolin would call again after that phone call.

She was even prepared for Mu Cheng to personally call and scold her.

but no.

The next day was quiet.

The third day was still quiet.

On the fourth day, Xu Ruolin sent a message: Siwan, Mom was in a hurry last time and said something harsh, don't take it to heart. It's cold, wear more clothes.

Mu Siwan stared at the line of text for a few seconds.

No reply.

On the fifth day, Xu Ruolin posted again: "Mom made your favorite soup and had someone deliver it to Muyan Garden for you."

Mu Siwan replied: Thank you, no need.

Xu Ruolin replied immediately: Okay, then take care of yourself.

Their attitude was more eager than ever before.

It doesn't conform to consistent logic.

But Mu Siwan was too lazy to investigate further.

-

Saturday has arrived again in the blink of an eye.

Mu Siwan stood at Li Jiliang's door with gifts in hand and rang the doorbell.

The person who opened the door was my master's wife. She was a woman in her fifties with a round face, whose eyes narrowed into slits when she smiled. Everyone who saw her ushered her inside.

"Siwan's here! Come in, come in quickly! Your master has been talking about you all morning."

Mu Siwan changed her shoes and went inside. In the living room, Li Jiliang was playing chess with two old men, the game fiercely contested. He glanced up at her and waved his hand.

"Please sit down and let me finish cleaning this plate."

Mu Siwan nodded and walked towards the kitchen.

"Siwan, come help your teacher's wife prepare the vegetables." Her teacher's wife pulled her into the kitchen, handing her a bunch of greens. "It's been a while since you've been here. Have you been busy lately?"

"fine."

"Your master keeps talking about you." His wife tied on her apron and started chopping vegetables. "He said you haven't come to our house for dinner in a long time, so he specially asked me to cook a few more of your favorite dishes today."

Mu Siwan picked at the vegetables, a smile spreading across her face: "Thank you, Master's wife."

The range hood hummed in the kitchen, and her teacher's wife casually asked her about work. She answered one by one, not saying much, but her teacher's wife didn't mind, smiling and saying that she was still the same as before.

After selecting the vegetables, she washed her hands and helped set the table.

Doorbell rang.

"Siwan, open the door for your master's wife," your master's wife called from the kitchen.

Mu Siwan responded, walked to the entrance, and opened the door.
