His physiological preference
Chapter 45 First Love
Qin Yuzheng looked down at her hand clasped around his arm. Her five fingers were as white as jade, with slightly protruding knuckles, and she was clenching her fist tightly.
He raised his other hand, gently placed it on the back of her hand, and patted it. That gesture meant, "I'm here."
Then he withdrew his hand and placed it on her waist. It was a light touch, his fingertips brushing against her waist. Through the thin cotton and linen fabric, he could feel her body temperature and her slightly trembling body; she was nervous.
He pulled her closer to him, bringing them about three centimeters closer.
This is amazing! They held hands and put their arms around each other's waists. I'll have plenty of material for my dreams tonight.
"I'm her boyfriend." Qin Yuzheng looked up at Wei Mingze with a polite smile. "I'm sorry to have troubled you."
Wei Mingze's gaze swept back and forth between the two people twice.
"Why are you going on blind dates when you have a boyfriend?" Wei Mingze roared angrily.
Yang Zhiyan tightened her grip on Qin Yuzheng's arm. "I'm sorry, my family forced me to."
Wei Mingze stood there, his mouth opening and closing twice.
Wei Mingze thinks your family is forcing you to go on blind dates because they don't approve of you being together? So you might as well choose me.
But after glancing at Qin Yuzheng, he swallowed his words. His intuition told him that this man was not to be trifled with. He picked up the car keys and phone from the table and glanced at Yang Zhiyan.
"Fine." He turned and left.
The sound of leather shoes clicking on the coffee shop floor grew fainter and fainter until it was cut off by the sound of the glass door closing.
The coffee shop fell silent again.
The background music is an old jazz piece, the piano melody is lazy and soft, and it has been floating in this space for a long time, not in a hurry to end.
The light was a warm yellow, shining down from the overhead spotlights and wall lamps onto the floor, giving it a soft, warm glow.
Qin Yuzheng's hand was still around Yang Zhiyan's waist.
Yang Zhiyan took a slight step back and broke free from Qin Yuzheng's hand around her waist.
"Thank you." The voice was polite but tinged with embarrassment.
Qin Yuzheng looked at her. The coffee shop lights shone down from above, casting a soft halo on her face. Her eyelashes were long and slightly curled, casting a small fan-shaped shadow below her eyelids when they drooped.
Her lips were painted with lipstick, full and pink, so alluring it was almost sinful.
"You're welcome," Qin Yuzheng said.
"Let's go, I'll take you home."
When the two walked out of the coffee shop, Yang Zhiyan noticed that the outside world was different.
The entire commercial street was bathed in pink light. The trees along the street were covered with tiny light bulbs, twinkling like stars fallen from the sky.
Various Qixi Festival decorations were displayed at the entrance of the shops, including heart-shaped balloons, pink arches, and signs that read "Happy Qixi Festival".
The streets were filled with couples, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. Some girls held flowers in their hands, red roses, pink roses, and blue roses, which bloomed brightly under the streetlights.
A sweet, cloying scent filled the air.
Yang Zhiyan stood at the entrance of the coffee shop and looked up at the sky. There were a few stars in the sky, not many, and they were dimmed by the city lights.
The moon was a crescent, hanging between two tall buildings, cold and aloof, completely out of place with the bustling activity on the ground.
Qin Yuzheng walked half a step ahead, glanced at her sideways, and then continued walking. The parking space was across the street, under a sycamore tree.
He walked to the passenger door, opened it, and placed one hand above the door frame. This was a gesture usually done for him by others, but he did it with ease for Yang Zhiyan.
Yang Zhiyan didn't see anything wrong with having a political bigwig open the car door for him. After all, Qin Yuzheng had been doing it frequently lately.
At first, Yang Zhiyan felt embarrassed, but Qin Yuzheng said that this was the gentlemanly demeanor a man should have.
Yang Zhiyan thought that this was probably what good upbringing was. Her father and brother didn't have this kind of upbringing.
Yang Zhiyan got in and fastened her seatbelt. He closed the door, walked around to the driver's seat, got in, and started the car.
The car pulled out of the parking space and merged into the traffic of the Qixi Festival night. The street scene outside the car window rushed past frame by frame: pink lights, couples holding flowers, and diners queuing outside restaurants.
The car stereo wasn't on; the only sounds in the cabin were the air conditioning vents and the low rumble of the tires rolling over the road.
"Why is your family setting you up on blind dates again?" Qin Yuzheng spoke first, his tone casual, as if he were talking about the nice weather.
Yang Zhiyan leaned back in her chair and looked out the window.
"I don't know," Yang Zhiyan herself was puzzled. "I can't figure it out. I've moved out now and I'm not in their way, so why do they insist on me getting married?"
"They probably hope you find happiness?" Qin Yuzheng said, his gaze fixed on the road ahead, but his fingers tightened slightly around the steering wheel.
Yang Zhiyan snorted. "Impossible. I don't believe they'd be that kind."
"At your age," Qin Yuzheng carefully chose his words. He had already asked Mu Cheng to prepare for the confession, and he needed to sound out Yang Zhiyan's feelings. He didn't want to do anything he wasn't sure of. "It's definitely a good time for you to be in a relationship. What are your thoughts on dating?"
Yang Zhiyan turned to look at him. His profile was very defined, and his nose was very straight.
He appeared to be focused on driving, but his tight grip on the steering wheel betrayed his tense state of mind.
Yang Zhiyan thought for a moment. "If I meet someone suitable, I might talk to them. After all," she paused, her voice lowering slightly, "I haven't been in a relationship yet."
Upon hearing this, Qin Yuzheng's heart skipped a beat.
She's never been in a relationship before; if it works out, he'll be her first love. That's wonderful news!
The car drove for a long time in the night of Qixi Festival. Yang Zhiyan watched the street scene outside the window change from a commercial street to a residential area, and then from a residential area to a neighborhood she was not very familiar with.
She glanced down at her phone; it was 9:40. She looked out the window again. The road had widened, the streetlights were brighter, and unfamiliar buildings appeared on both sides of the road.
A gray high-rise building flashed past the car window, with "International Convention and Exhibition Center" written on it. She recognized it; she'd been there before for the cheongsam culture exhibition. But this direction…
"This isn't the way back to Shengshi Tianxi." She turned to look at Qin Yuzheng.
"Hmm," Qin Yuzheng said without looking at her, his gaze fixed on the road ahead, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Let's go to Jinhao to get something."
"Jinhao?"
"Yes," Qin Yuzheng turned on his turn signal and turned onto a wider road.
Yang Zhiyan said "Oh" and didn't ask any more questions.
She didn't know where Qin Yuzheng was going or what he was doing, but she knew who Mu Cheng was—the one she met at the French restaurant last time, the one who called her "sister-in-law."
Her ears started burning again, she didn't know if it was because of the "sister-in-law" incident or because the car's air conditioning was too hot.
Jinhao Hotel is located in the eastern part of Haicheng, near the core area of Binjiang New District. Qin Yuzheng parked the car in the underground garage, turned off the engine, and unbuckled his seatbelt. Yang Zhiyan also unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the car door.
The elevator went up from the second basement level to the first floor. The doors opened, and a couple entered, hand in hand. The girl was holding a large bouquet of red roses, the petals still glistening with dew, and the fragrance filled the entire elevator.
