Chapter 44 This is my boyfriend
Yang Zhiyan looked at her sister-in-law. Her due date was approaching, her belly was very big, and she leaned slightly backward when she walked, supporting her waist with one hand.
"You disliked the last one because he was bald," Li Fengxia said casually, as if she had completely forgotten that she was the one who introduced him.
"This time I've found you a young, big boss, thirty years old, who runs his own business. He owns three houses and two cars, and his parents are wealthy. You'll definitely enjoy a life of luxury if you marry him."
Looking at her sister-in-law's incessant chatter, Yang Zhiyan suddenly felt a sense of calm. She could simply ignore her words and not take them to heart.
"Sister-in-law, I'm going to help." She turned and left.
Behind her came Li Fengxia's exasperated voice: "Mom, look at her like that..." The rest of her words were drowned out by the noise of the crowd, and she didn't hear them or want to hear them.
The wedding banquet will begin at six o'clock.
Twenty tables were set up in the hotel lobby, with red tablecloths and gold chair covers. The stage backdrop was a huge LED screen that played the bride and groom's wedding photos on a loop.
In the photo, my cousin is smiling brightly, and his wife is smiling gently. The two of them are leaning against each other, looking like the happiest people in the world.
Yang Zhiyan sat on the side, next to a few relatives she wasn't very familiar with. She didn't feel like talking, so she just kept her head down and ate.
The food at the hotel was mediocre, much worse than the food Qin Yuzheng had taken her to, but she ate very attentively because she would have to chat with the people next to her if she didn't eat.
At 8:05, the wedding ceremony was over, and the meal was finished.
Yang Zhiyan glanced at her phone and sent Qin Yuzheng a message: "It's over."
After sending the message, she put her phone in her bag, stood up, and prepared to leave.
Stepping out of the hotel, the August evening breeze hit me. It was hot and sticky, mixed with the smell of cooking oil from roadside barbecue stalls.
"Yan Yan."
Yang Zhiyan turned around. Yang's mother and Yang Yaohua walked out of the hotel, one in front of the other. Yang's mother walked quickly, while Yang Yaohua followed behind, his pace neither hurried nor slow, but his posture was not like walking, but like blocking someone's way.
"Wait a moment," Yang's mother said, walking up to her, slightly out of breath. "There's a coffee shop across the street, why don't you go sit down?"
Yang Zhiyan looked at her mother.
"Your sister-in-law has introduced you to someone, a very good catch," Yang's mother said with an air of undeniable certainty. "He's waiting for you at the coffee shop across the street. Go and meet him."
Yang Zhiyan tightened her grip on the phone slightly.
"Mom, I told you, I'm not going on blind dates."
Yang Yaohua took a step forward and stood next to his mother. He was a head taller than Yang Zhiyan and looked down at her.
"Go there," the voice said firmly. "He's handsome and well-off. My sister-in-law has been asking around for him for a long time."
"I don't……"
"You can go by yourself, or I can go with you," Yang Yaohua interrupted her.
The voice was full of threat. A naked, undisguised threat.
Yang Zhiyan looked at her brother in disbelief. She had already moved out and was no longer in the sight of their family, so why did they still insist on making her get married?
Yang Zhiyan put her phone away. "Where is it?"
"Over there, that coffee shop," Yang's mother pointed across the street.
The coffee shop is small, located on the ground floor of a commercial street opposite the hotel. It has a glass facade and is brightly lit inside.
There weren't many people at this time; a few tables were scattered around, with some chatting, some scrolling through their phones, and some just sitting there doing nothing and spacing out.
Yang Zhiyan pushed open the glass door, and a blast of cold air hit her face, raising goosebumps.
She stood at the door and glanced around. A man was sitting by the window, alone, with a glass of water on the table in front of him, which he hadn't drunk.
She wore a light blue shirt, buttoned all the way up, and her hair was neatly combed, parted in a 3/7 ratio, and styled with hairspray, making it shine brightly under the light.
He has an average appearance, neither ugly nor good-looking, the kind that wouldn't stand out in a crowd. He looks to be around thirty years old, much younger than the bald guy from before.
Yang Zhiyan walked over and sat down opposite him.
"Hello, I am Yang Zhiyan."
The other person looked up, paused for a moment on her face, scanned her from top to bottom, and then slowly curved the corners of their mouth into an unsettling smile.
"Wei Mingze, just call me Xiao Wei." He extended his hand.
Yang Zhiyan shook his hand briefly, then quickly let go.
Wei Mingze leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and looked very relaxed, as if he were at home.
"Let me introduce myself first." She spoke slowly but fluently. "I own three apartments and two cars in the city. My parents run a business, and I work for them now. That's about it. It's not great, but it's considered decent in Haicheng."
Yang Zhiyan looked at him without saying anything.
Wei Mingze took her silence as listening and continued speaking.
"Our family isn't feudal, don't worry," he said, gesturing with his hand in the air with a very generous air.
"After we get married, you can go to work if you want, or I'll support you if you don't. I'll send you living expenses on time every month, so you won't feel embarrassed about having to pay me."
He glanced at Yang Zhiyan, and probably felt that her words had hit the nail on the head, so the corners of his mouth curved up even wider.
"And our family doesn't discriminate against girls at all," he added. "It's fine whether we have a boy or a girl."
When Yang Zhiyan heard this, her heart skipped a beat. It wasn't a flutter of excitement, but rather the feeling of finally meeting a normal person, a slight sense of relief.
"Mr. Wei," Yang Zhiyan began, wanting to say, "but I don't want to go on blind dates. It was my family who agreed to it for me," but Wei Mingze didn't give her a chance to finish.
"But you must give me a son and a daughter, because I want to have a son and a daughter together," Wei Mingze said matter-of-factly.
Yang Zhiyan looked at him and thought, "Goodness, this is even harder than asking to have three sons!"
Wei Mingze showed no discomfort whatsoever, as if he were stating something perfectly natural.
His eyes even held a smug look of "Am I not very open-minded?" He didn't discriminate against girls and only wanted one son and one daughter. He felt that he was already very reasonable and should be considered a breath of fresh air among the many men he was on blind dates with.
Yang Zhiyan opened her mouth as if to say something, but then closed it again.
Never mind. She didn't want to talk about it anymore.
Qin Yuzheng happened to be at this coffee shop; he had arrived at the hotel early to wait for Yang Zhiyan. Since Yang Zhiyan wasn't finished, he could only find a place to sit.
In a corner hidden by a bonsai tree, Qin Yuzheng almost crushed the cup in his hand.
Why is she here on another blind date? I'm so annoyed. But what's the use of being angry? They're just dining buddies. I have to confess my feelings today. Otherwise, my wife will be stolen away.
Just as Qin Yuzheng was getting angry with himself, he received a message from Yang Zhiyan: "Help! Call me now! I've been forced into a blind date and met a lunatic."
After sending the message, Yang Zhiyan waited for Qin Yuzheng to call me, so she could talk to him about her predicament.
A voice came from the side.
"Zhiyan".
With its captivating tone, Yang Zhiyan felt it was simply heavenly music.
Yang Zhiyan turned her head.
Qin Yuzheng stood in the aisle of the coffee shop. He wore a white shirt and dark gray trousers, with one button undone at the collar, revealing his collarbone.
His expression appeared calm, even with a faint smile, but the smile didn't reach his eyes, carrying an eerie, oppressive atmosphere. He held a phone in his hand, the screen still lit.
Wei Mingze turned to look at Qin Yuzheng. Having been in business for a long time, he had seen many people, and he could tell at a glance that this man was no ordinary person, possessing the aura of someone who had long held a high position.
"This is..." Wei Mingze stood up.
Yang Zhiyan sprang up from the chair almost instinctively. The movement was so fast that the chair legs scraped against the ground with a piercing creak.
She walked over to Qin Yuzheng and took his arm. Her fingers were clasped tightly around the shirt cuff of his forearm.
"This is my boyfriend."
