Mystery: Death Singer

Chapter 25 Evil Spirit Possession

Edric opened his eyes to a familiar ceiling; he was back in the staff lounge of Raphael Cemetery.

"Everything that just happened was just a dream? It was just too real, even the headache was exactly the same as what I experienced in real life..."

Edric sat up straight and rubbed his temples with lingering fear.

He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt that the city he had just dreamed of was real, waiting for him somewhere.

Composing himself, Edric looked around and found that Kalis had returned sometime earlier and was enjoying a freshly brewed cup of black tea.

The two night watchmen had disappeared without a trace, apparently having left Raphael's Cemetery by carriage.

Noticing that Edric had woken up, Kalis put down his teacup and, gesturing for Edric to sit down opposite him, whispered an explanation:

"When Mr. Leonard and I returned, we found you already asleep. I think it was because you were too tired from work this morning, so we didn't wake you up."

"Anyway, the first funeral starts at 3 p.m. and the last one is at 5 p.m., so we have plenty of time."

Edric took the black tea that Kalis handed him, and instead of asking why he had suddenly fallen asleep, he played along:

"I suddenly felt very sleepy, probably because of the hot weather. Has the doctor left yet?"

"They've already left." Kalis took a sip of tea. "You and Alvin are both fine, there's nothing wrong with you."

"By the way, Edric, I remember you and Alvin rented the same apartment building, right? I mean, has he been acting any different lately?"

Edric's eyes flickered slightly, and from the perspective of an ordinary person, he laid bare all the difficulties Alvin had been facing recently:

"It seems to be related to his second son, Jerry, but I don't know the specifics, since I don't live on the same floor as him."

"Jerry?" Carlisle repeated the name, immediately deciding to hand the news over to Dunn after get off work and ask him to check if there were any unresolved issues.

He picked up his teacup again, took a sip, then checked the time and said:

"The sun is blazing right now, let's wait another half hour. By the way, what day of the week do you plan to put your extra day off? I never want to encounter a situation like today again, I have to make the schedule in advance."

After a moment's thought, Edric smiled and said, "How about next Monday? It'll be perfect for me to experience what it's like to have two days off in a row."

"Next Monday?" Kalis thought carefully about who had asked for leave next Monday, and after finding no one, he immediately nodded and said, "No problem! This is your due reward."

Before he finished speaking, Kalis took out five sule notes from his desk drawer and handed them to Edric, adding with a smile, "Of course, there's also this, Augustus, which no one can refuse."

Looking at the banknotes in his hand, Edric smiled and said, "Yes, no one can refuse."

…………

That night, in a rented room on Iron Cross Street.

Edric, who was trying to blend some new essential oils, suddenly frowned and then turned to look in the direction of the northern part of Tingen.

In his perception, a gaze that could be described as "terrifying" was peering out from the spirit world, coldly and mercilessly sweeping over the entire northern district.

Besides the gaze that Edric instinctively wanted to avoid, many other spirits left the spirit world, either voluntarily or involuntarily, and hid in the originally peaceful northern district.

Edric's eyes turned completely gray, his gaze seemingly piercing through countless houses, fixed on a headless spirit with limbs as thick as calves, but a torso the size of a child, its entire being extremely ethereal.

Even though this was the first time Edric had seen it with his own eyes, he was absolutely certain that this spirit was the legendary evil spirit.

A newly born, extremely fragile, and unsupported evil spirit!

The knowledge passed down in the "Corpse Collector" and "Gravedigger" potions contains a lot of information about evil spirits. For example, it is the pinnacle and end of all soul-like things, far above lingering resentment, ghosts, and vengeful spirits. The most terrifying evil spirits can even be compared to high-sequence powerhouses!

There are many ways in which evil spirits are born, but the most common way is when an extraordinary person dies suddenly, and the remaining spirit is unwilling to just disappear. Under the influence of its remaining spirituality and the spirit world, it successfully transforms into an evil spirit.

Edric didn't know where the evil spirit he had just seen came from, but he was certain that the evil spirit was extremely weak. Whether it was to capture and imprison it to be subdued later, or to track down the people who died from the possession of the evil spirit, it was a golden opportunity that could not be missed!

Even with the possibility of being exposed to that "terrifying" gaze, Edric didn't want to miss this opportunity.

After quickly tidying up the bottles and jars in the house, Edric slipped downstairs silently and sped towards the North District under the cover of night.

…………

On the other hand, Klein felt extremely overwhelmed. He never expected that simply attending his sister's friend's birthday party would lead to such an extraordinary and dangerous event.

Considering that Benson and Melissa were still there, Klein did not choose to evacuate and wait for support. With Elizabeth's help, he successfully found a suitable position.

While Klein was trying to sever the connection between Selena and the magic mirror, Edric had already quietly arrived nearby. He didn't look at the row of houses shrouded in unspeakable terror, but instead focused his gaze on a house on the street corner.

Within the "Eye of Death's" vision, there was no sign of life; the stench of death filled the sky.

"Even though we rushed, we were still a step too late..." Edric frowned, then quickly relaxed.

The West End where he lived was too far from here, and even though he traveled at full speed at the risk of being discovered, he still couldn't stop the evil spirit from doing evil.

To prevent the situation from escalating and attracting the attention of the official Extraordinary Ones, Edric immediately sank slowly into the ground and, with the help of the Stone Spirit, quickly approached the house.

In the living room littered with severed limbs, a headless, humanoid creature with an extremely twisted body and limbs was squatting on the ground, frantically stuffing the scattered flesh and blood into its torso.

With each piece of flesh that entered its belly, the limbs of this twisted figure would grow larger, while its torso would shrink further. By the time Edric quietly entered the scene, the figure had completely changed—a monster composed of four huge chunks of flesh repeatedly stacked and intertwined together.
