Mystery: Death Singer

Chapter 26 The Mysterious Man

"Ugh~"

As soon as he peeked out, Edric was hit hard by the foul air that filled the air, and he almost vomited.

The smell of blood, the smell of excrement, and several other strange, foul odors from who-knows-where blended together in this house, resulting in an exponential increase in its lethality.

Edric was unwilling to continue torturing his body, so he immediately activated his "Death Eye" to observe the evil spirit that was still devouring "nutrients" and had not yet noticed his arrival.

But the moment the "Eye of Death" was activated, the evil spirit seemed to sense danger and suddenly turned around, staring intently at Edric with its eyes, which were hidden somewhere.

"squeak……"

Before the sharp, mournful cry could fully escape, a fist the size of a basketball suddenly rose from the ground and slammed solidly into the lump of flesh that could no longer be called human.

huh~~~

At the same time, a cold wind and icy fog spread from Edric's feet, turning the entire living room into the perfect battlefield for his fight, and successfully dispelling the indescribable stench in the air.

Seeing the Stone Spirit fully engaged in battle with the fleshy monster ahead, Edric did not rush to join the fight. Instead, he directed the Frost Spirit to apply pressure from a distance while slowly retreating.

He pulled out the revolver he had seized from Iverson, slowly opened the magazine, unloaded the bullets, and then loaded special bullets engraved with scarlet and grayish-white characters.

This is an extraordinary bullet that Edric created himself after reading Iverson's notes and using the knowledge recorded therein, as well as the inheritance from his own potions.

These bullets may not be ideal against other extraordinary creatures, but they are absolutely reliable against spirits and other soul-like beings.

The fleshy monster had only recently been born, and its strength was far weaker than Edric had anticipated, so weak that its "evil spirit" nature was completely undetectable.

Pong!

Gunshots rang out. Edric, with one hand in his pocket, pursed his lips and then awkwardly moved closer to the fleshy monster.

He hadn't expected his marksmanship to be so bad. The fleshy monster was quite large, over three meters tall, and was being held back by the Stone Spirit and Frost Spirit, severely hindering its movement. Logically, even a novice who had never touched a gun before should not have missed.

Pong!

Gunshots rang out again. This time, Edric did not waste the precious opportunity and successfully hit the fleshy monster that was frantically tearing at the Stone Spirit. The monster's huge body visibly paused, and a crater the size of a basketball immediately appeared on one of the fleshy lumps, which was either a hand or a foot.

"squeak!!!"

A piercing scream suddenly rang out, shattering the tranquility of the night.

pong!pong!pong!

Edric frowned slightly, and with a flick of his finger, fired several shots in quick succession. Three huge bursts of blood erupted from the fleshy monster, splattering onto the floor and walls with a sizzling sound.

Gunshots were already noticeable enough, but the piercing scream of the fleshy monster was sure to cause unease and panic among the neighbors.

In other words, if Edric doesn't want to have a direct confrontation with the official Extraordinary beings right now, then he must race against time to either quickly kill or capture this evil spirit, or clean up as many traces as possible and leave as quickly as possible.

Edric certainly wouldn't choose to retreat so easily; he had come specifically for this evil spirit!

Edric immediately abandoned the safety provided by the distance and rushed to the fleshy monster entangled with the stone spirit in the blink of an eye.

He raised the revolver in his hand, which was already reloaded with six extraordinary bullets. If he could successfully hit the evil spirit hiding in the core of the fleshy monster, he could easily destroy it.

The next second, the Frost Spirit, covered in frost and with a deathly pale complexion, fully appeared behind the fleshy monster. A shriek, inaudible to the naked ear but deadly to the spirit, suddenly erupted!

A soul-piercing scream!

In an instant, the entangled stone spirit and the fleshy monster stopped moving. Even Edric, who was tormented by his memories, trembled, and crimson blood gushed from his nose. He felt as if someone had inserted a hand into his brain and stirred it violently.

Half a second later, relying on his experience, Edric was the first to recover and quickly stepped forward, pressing his revolver face-to-face against a certain spot on the still-recovering fleshy monster.

Looking at the weakness hidden deep within the flesh, which he had only managed to find thanks to his "Death Eye," Edric pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Since an official Extraordinary could appear at any moment, Edric held nothing back and unleashed all his Extraordinary bullets in one go.

Pfft~ Pfft~

Large amounts of flesh were torn apart, and the monster made of chunks of flesh exploded uncontrollably, with pus mixed with flesh and blood scattering everywhere.

Edric's face darkened. In order to grab something from the shattered chunks of flesh, he had to endure this "flesh bomb" head-on, his entire body covered in a sticky, foul-smelling, unknown liquid.

After taking a full three seconds to calm his grief and anger, Edric opened his palm, revealing a soft, dark green object that looked like two teeth stacked together.

The instant the fleshy monster disintegrated, a sudden desire rising from the depths of his heart told Edric that this was the extraordinary material he needed to find: "the brain matter of those who died from possession by evil spirits." Although it was still in solid form, once dissolved, it would be enough for the five milliliters required for the potion.

After carefully storing the hard-won brain matter in an iron cigarette case and sealing it, Edric immediately controlled Frost Spirit to quickly clean up the battlefield.

After confirming that he had not left any blood, hair, or personal belongings behind, Edric reunited with the Stone Spirit and, with the help of the solid earth, moved away from the house and away from the North District.

Ten minutes later, the door was kicked open from the outside with a loud bang, and Dunn Smith and Leonard Mitchell, both wearing coats, walked in one after the other.

After quickly surveying the blood-stained hall, Leonard covered his nose with his hand and muttered:

"It seems that while Klein was dealing with that magic mirror divination, a terrifying and extraordinary event also occurred here. Unfortunately, there were no survivors."

Dunn's deep eyes remained calm and still. His seasoned experience allowed him to immediately sense the presence of an evil spirit and he spoke up:

"I'll continue to find Hynas Vancent. You go back and tell Fry to check if there are any lingering resentments or spirits here, and try to find out who the mysterious person who dealt with the evil spirit is."
