Witch Hunter Rhapsody

Chapter 21 Tearing

Vitas Vitalius possesses extraordinary physical abilities, a gift bestowed upon him by his family's bloodline.

At the age of six, he was able to wield a greatsword that only adults could wield, and he underwent the most rigorous knight training. By the age of nine, he already possessed strength that ordinary adults could not have.

As he grows older, the rate of increase in this power decreases, but it is still growing.

Vitas has now become a figure worthy of being called a hero.

He crashed into Guros, the entire blade of his sword piercing through him, piercing through the defense that the Flying Eagle Knights had barely managed to break through with their combined strength.

Then, Vitas steadied himself, exerted all his strength, and suddenly lifted the ancient creature up.

Guros struggled frantically. Its massive size should have been its most advantageous weapon, but faced with Vitas's immense strength, it could only flail its limbs in the air.

The flesh and blood slammed into Vitas's armor, and with a low growl from his throat, Vitas flung Guros away.

The blade was pulled from the flesh, slicing open a large gash, and various red and pink substances flowed onto the ground.

Vitas turned around, his body now covered in blood.

It's really exciting.

Vitas commanded.

"Flying Eagle Knights, retreat now! You are responsible for drawing away Guros, and leave the rest to me!"

"But, but..."

"Leon, trust Vitas!"

Helena believed that Vitas had discovered the casualties in the Flying Eagle Knights, and his nobility and compassion prevented this from continuing; this was precisely the knight's mercy.

She can no longer imagine the scene of Vitas's death.

The Flying Eagle Knights began their retreat, and the enraged Guros pursued them relentlessly. Several more emerged from their lair, leaving four around Vitas.

Vitas licked his lips; such rude behavior only occurred at times like this.

He knew it was a risky business. The Flying Eagle Knights hadn't gone far. They might notice something was wrong and come back, but so what?

If he is seen, he will kill the witness. It is impossible for Vitas to maintain his composure and calmness under extreme pain and grief.

The violent element flowing in Vitas's blood will also be completely released in such pain.

I miss you all.

Vitas spoke slowly, and around him, one after another, the dead returned from hell, clad in full armor, joining the battle on foot because their master was not riding a warhorse.

Their bodies were mutilated, their armor shattered, flames leaped from their exposed flesh, and their eyes were filled with rage—nothing else mattered.

Twenty warriors of the Order of Sin, heavy knights, spearmen, and the executioner who killed Raymond also appeared. He was taller than Vitas and even stronger.

Vitas looked at them; they were soulless shells, yet they were still fulfilling the vows they had made years ago.

Vitas felt a pang of guilt, having summoned them simply because he wanted a fight, simply because he wanted to see them again.

Is he a qualified knight?

"Fight me!"

Vitas's power increased, his longsword spinning as it cleaved through Guros's fur and shredded his entrails, as the undead summoned from hell attacked alongside their master.

They have already lost their lives; what is dead cannot die a second time.

Guros can smash their bodies, but given time, they can rise again, not to mention that these returning monsters possess the agility and combat skills of their past.

No, it's even more powerful.

The spearman leaped onto Guros's body and plunged his burning spear into Guros's open mouth. The heavy knights learned to fight like their masters, while the executioner swung his axe.

It doesn't need to aim; the terrifying power and speed mean that simply touching it is enough.

Guros is ultimately just a beast. Such an attack could have been easily killed even by the former Knights of Sin, who were still human. Now, the "non-human" who has become even stronger will only be able to kill him more easily.

The members of the Flying Eagle Knights felt as if they were on the run.

And that certainly seems to be the case.

They ran through the forest, using the plants and slopes to thwart Guros's attack.

In reality, there were only three Guros, fewer than Vitas could handle alone, but the Flying Eagle Knights had more than thirty members.

Helena felt extremely ashamed.

"Leon, we'll fight them right here!"

"What are you talking about? We're here?"

Leon looked around. The trees here were dense, which was indeed a disadvantage for the tall Guros.

"We've already lost Francis and Ackley; continuing to run will only lead to more losses. We must avenge them!"

Leon felt a headache coming on. Helena had been like this since she was a child. She usually seemed normal, but once she got nervous, she would do things without considering the consequences.

"Alright! We're here! Everyone get ready, we're about to have a fierce battle. You all saw Vitas's fight just now. These monsters aren't invincible. As long as we use the right methods, we can kill them all!"

"To avenge Francis and Ackley!"

The knights were in high spirits, but of course, Guros was also injured and had lost a lot of his strength after running for several miles with them.

Under siege and harassment, Guros, being a beast, would naturally die.

The only difference is how many people they can take with them when they retaliate.

The dying roar of Guros mingled with the screams of the humans.

"Arman!"

"It hurts! It hurts so much!"

"Do you have any styptic powder? I need to stop the bleeding!"

After a period of chaos, Guros's roars gradually subsided, leaving only the screams of humans, followed by cheers.

"Praise be to God!"

May the eagle protect us all!

"We did it!"

Helena held her arm; she had also sustained some injuries in the battle.

However, she didn't have much energy to pay attention to things here at the time.

"Leon, I'll leave the cleanup here to you. I'm going to help Vitas!"

"Hey! Helena, wait!"

Helena had already run far away, and Leon wanted to chase after her, but the Flying Eagle Knights needed him more right now.

Four men were killed and twelve wounded. They still needed to pack up the spoils of war and now needed a qualified commander.

Leon now only hopes that Vitas has successfully dealt with Guros over there, at least preventing Helena from being put in danger.

……

Helena ran, wanting to get to Vitas as quickly as possible.

Although Vitas was somewhat strange, arrogant, and different from what Helena had imagined, all of this only made Vitas more charming and attractive in Helena's eyes.

"What is this?"

Helena noticed around her that an arm of a Guros was hanging from a tree, and there were burn marks on the branches.

Is that a flame? But I didn't see any more flames.

Helena realized something was wrong, and the sensations in the air made her feel even more uneasy.

Helena quickened her pace, but the excruciating pain in her body forced her to slow down.

She saw the torn pieces of Guros, scattered everywhere, and Helena didn't even think they could be sold for money.

Gradually, the lair of the ancient locus became visible.

She suddenly stopped in her tracks.

So... what exactly is going on?
