His teammates Liu Yang and Fang Lin provided support from behind. Liu Yang held up his shield to block flying stones and fire bottles, while Fang Lin's arrows accurately hit the goblins that were trying to flank him.

But there were too many goblins, and they were organized and coordinated, unlike the mindless, scattered mobs of the past. Goblins with slingshots suppressed the enemy from behind, goblins with fire bottles harassed the flanks, and melee goblins charged from the front.

After several rounds of attacks, the guild's formation began to show gaps. Some fell, some retreated, and some began to panic.

The military's heavy firepower began to unleash its power. Machine guns spat fire in the darkness, bullets raining down on the goblin horde, dark green blood exploding in the flames. But these goblins were not the monsters that charged on instinct like before; they would seek cover, charge during the intervals between machine gun reloads, and flank from blind spots.

The machine gun's ammunition belt was quickly emptied, and in the few seconds it took for the gunner to reload, the goblin rushed to the front of the defensive line.

"Stay calm! Don't panic!" Zhou Weiren's voice came through the walkie-talkie, still with that unhurried, weighty tone. But this time, there was something new in his voice... not nervousness, but a more serious tone, as if he were confirming something.

Lin Xiaohe charged into the goblin horde. The dagger seemed to come alive in her hand, piercing through the eye socket of one goblin and exiting through the back of its head. The blade drew a semicircle in the air, slicing across the neck of another goblin, severing its artery, and dark green blood spurted out.

Her speed was so fast that the goblins couldn't react at all, and her swordsmanship was so precise that every strike went straight for the vital points. Level 5 goblins were killed with one strike, and level 6 goblin squad leaders were killed with two strikes.

Her body was covered in dark green blood—on her face, in her hair, on her clothes, everywhere. She didn't wipe it off, she didn't stop, she just kept killing and charging forward.

Lin Yuwei didn't rush into the goblin horde. She stood on the inner side of the defensive line, the silver-spotted leopard cub circling around her feet, emitting low, warning hisses. Her fingers rubbed against the butt of the gun at her waist for a moment, then released it.

Instead of drawing her gun, she rummaged through her backpack and pulled out a small bottle of recovery potion. She knelt down, pried open the mouth of a wounded soldier, and poured the potion into his mouth. The soldier had a dent in his chest from a falling rock; his breathing was rapid and erratic, and his lips were purple. After the potion was administered, his breathing stabilized, and his lips changed from purple to white, then from white to red.

Lin Yuwei stood up, turned around, and walked towards the next wounded person.

Su Mu leaned against the trunk of a large tree, arms crossed, watching the battlefield. His expression was as calm as a still pond, but his eyes glowed faintly in the darkness... not golden, but a darker light, as if ignited by something, ready to burst into flame at any moment.

The spear leaned against the tree trunk beside him, its tip embedded in the fallen leaves, not pulled out. He didn't move. Everyone around him was fighting, desperately battling, bleeding, but he didn't move.

The second wave of attacks has arrived.

When the cat demon king leaped down from the treetop, everyone thought it was a meteorite. The dark red figure drew an arc in the darkness, moving so fast that even the afterimage was invisible, before crashing to the ground and creating a crater.

Fallen leaves and pebbles flew everywhere, dust billowed. When the dust settled, a giant cat demon, four or five times larger than an ordinary cat demon, crouched in the pit. Its fur was not the dark red of a normal cat demon, but a deeper, blackish-red, like congealed blood, covered with fine, dark purple patterns, as if something was flowing beneath its skin.

Its eyes were a ghastly white, without pupils, only two white flames burning in the darkness. Its mouth was open, revealing rows of jagged, saw-like teeth, and saliva dripped from between its teeth, dripping onto the ground with a sizzling, corrosive sound.

"Poison Cat King..." someone called out its name, their voice filled with obvious fear.

The Poison Cat King made a move.

Its speed was so fast that Zhao Derong's dynamic vision couldn't keep up at all. The dark red figure weaved through the crowd, and with each pause, a goblin fell... No, it wasn't killing goblins, it was killing people.

A guild's shield warrior was slashed by its claws, leaving three deep, bone-revealing claw marks on his chest. Blood gushed from the marks, not bright red, but a dark purple. The edges of the claw marks turned black within seconds, then began to fester and stink. Poison.

"It's poisonous! Don't touch it!"

Zhao Derong rushed forward. He swung the iron hammer at the Poison Cat King, whose body spun sharply in the air. The hammer grazed the tip of its tail and slammed into the ground, creating a crater.

The Poison Cat King's claws came at Zhao Derong's face. Zhao Derong turned his head to dodge, but the claws grazed his shoulder, tearing three rips in his combat uniform and leaving three shallow bloodstains on his skin.

The edges of the bloodstain turned dark purple within seconds, then began to spread outwards. Zhao Derong felt a numbness in his shoulder, which spread from his shoulder to his arm, and from his arm to his chest. His movements slowed down, by half a beat, by half a second.

"He's been poisoned!" Fang Lin shouted.

Liu Yang charged forward, shield in hand, blocking Zhao Derong's path. The Poison Cat King's claws slammed into the shield, leaving three deep claw marks. Liu Yang was jolted back several steps, his hand split open, blood trickling down the shield.

Fang Lin's arrow shot towards the Poison Cat King, whose body dodged left and right in mid-air. The arrow flew past it, struck a tree trunk, and embedded itself in the wood. The Poison Cat King's figure flashed in the darkness and disappeared. It wasn't invisibility; its speed was too fast for the naked eye to follow.

"It ran away?" someone asked.

No one answered. Because the Poison Cat King hadn't run away; it was looking for its next target.

Proshu stood on the south side of the defensive line, wings folded, his gaze fixed on a point in the darkness. His golden blade of light condensed in his palm, but he didn't release it. He was waiting, waiting for the Poison Cat King to appear.

The Poison Cat King leaped down from the treetop and pounced on Proxiu. Proxiu's light blade slashed upwards, and the Poison Cat King's body twisted violently in mid-air. The light blade grazed its abdomen, cutting a gash from which dark purple blood gushed.

The Poison Cat King let out a sharp screech, its body flipped halfway through the air, landed on the tree trunk, its limbs gripping the bark tightly, and then it sprang away, disappearing into the darkness.
