Farming Life Starting in Africa
Chapter 259 The Forgotten Client
"Are you going too?" Lone Wolf's tone became more serious.
Rosen sighed. "Yes, I have a good uncle."
He made up his mind to shave his head next January.
Lone Wolf was silent for a moment, then said in a deep voice, "Then try to bring as many people as possible, even if they are just odd jobs like driving or moving things."
"No problem, I have a batch of ready-made weapons and special vehicles prepared here, and I will send them over directly when the time comes."
"That would be perfect," Lone Wolf's tone softened. "We'll meet in Nogalis and get in touch then."
After quickly finalizing the arrangements, the two hung up the phone promptly.
Lawson swipes through the phone's contact list with his fingertips, continuing to filter for reliable people.
I paused when I saw Zhou Weijie's name. This guy was still in Africa dealing with his business, but it looked like he was almost done wrapping it up. I estimated he could come over in a couple of days. Unfortunately, this mission was urgent, so he probably wouldn't make it in time.
Scroll down the page, and an unfamiliar number comes into view—Chen Ximeng.
Rosen was so embarrassed that he scratched his toes on the ground, suddenly remembering something he had completely forgotten.
A while ago, this group of wolves clearly wanted to buy weapons from him, but he completely forgot about it.
Sure enough, once people are living comfortably and have plenty of money, they easily become complacent and can even ignore business opportunities that come their way. They have lost all the drive they had when they were working hard and risking their lives in Africa.
Rosen shook his head helplessly and dialed the number.
The call was answered instantly, suggesting Chen Ximeng was a typical night owl, not sleeping at all in the middle of the night. A lazy yet irritated voice came from the receiver: "Hey? Who is this?"
Honey badger.
The next second, the tone on the other end of the phone exploded, filled with resentment: "Honey badger? Holy crap! You still remember this business deal? You said someone was connecting us with you, and we waited a full two weeks without a single word. We almost thought something had happened to you!"
Rosen awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. "Don't get excited, don't get excited. We were just too busy to keep up lately, but it's not a problem now. I just received a brand new batch of goods, and the quality and firepower are sufficient. Where are you guys now?"
"Still in downtown Austin." Chen Ximeng's tone was authoritative. "Since you made the mistake first, you have to give us a discount on this order, or this isn't over."
Rosen felt relieved. Austin wasn't far from the border, and traveling through the night would be more than enough time to make it to tomorrow's operation.
"A discount is no problem, no issue." He smoothly transitioned to the main topic, "I'm not just looking for you to do arms deals. I have a ready-made employment opportunity. Are you interested in taking it?"
Upon hearing there was work to be done, Chen Ximeng instantly forgot his previous resentment and perked up, his tone brightening considerably: "What kind of task? How difficult is it? Is the reward good enough?"
Rosen pondered for a moment, not daring to directly agree to let these novices act alone. He carefully said, "You should ask your godfather for this job. If you go on this mission alone, I'm afraid you'll be punished when you get home, even if you complete it."
Chen Ximeng was startled. He hadn't expected that Rosen would know their rules and background so thoroughly. It was quite unexpected.
But he had to admit that Rosen was telling the whole truth.
Fu Longsheng was extremely strict with them. Taking orders privately was a major taboo. At best, they would be grounded and reprimanded; at worst, they would be directly punished, which was not worth it.
"Okay, I'll go get him." Chen Ximeng hesitated for two seconds before making a condition, "But you must keep it a secret. You can't tell anyone that we're buying weapons from you. Not a single word can leak out."
"Don't worry," Rosen answered frankly. "I value integrity above all else in business, and I absolutely protect my clients' privacy. That's a rule I follow."
Once the matter was settled, Chen Ximeng hung up the phone decisively.
Just as Rosen was about to continue searching through his contacts, he suddenly heard soft footsteps behind him.
Giselle woke up at some point. The night breeze was slightly cool. She casually draped a soft, thin blanket over herself, loosely wrapping her graceful figure, and slowly walked out of the room onto the balcony.
The dim night made her gentle features and alluring figure stand out, every move she made exuding a seductive charm, causing Rosen's heart to flutter slightly, and he felt a strange heat rising within him.
"Why aren't you asleep in the middle of the night? Why are you on the phone all by yourself?" Giselle walked over to him, her voice soft and sweet, with the languor of someone who had just woken up.
Rosen let out a soft breath, a hint of seriousness in his eyes: "I've taken on a tricky task, I have to set off soon."
Giselle looked up at him gently, her eyes full of concern: "Is there anything I can do to help? I can lend a hand."
Rosen shook his head slightly: "This mission is too risky. Don't get involved; it's too dangerous."
Upon hearing this, Gisele raised an eyebrow, her heart filled with curiosity.
She knew Rosen's abilities all too well: his marksmanship was impeccable, and his driving skills were top-notch. For him to describe a mission as tricky and dangerous, one could only imagine how incredibly perilous it was.
"I have a batch of ready-made weapons on hand," Giselle suggested. "If you need equipment, you can take them anytime."
Rosen paused, somewhat surprised: "You also do arms dealing as a side job?"
Giselle's cheeks flushed slightly upon hearing this, recalling Rosen's comment that her marksmanship was mediocre. "It's just helping out a friend on the side, not a proper business. I personally like firearms, and I have a few friends in the military. Occasionally, I can get a batch of obsolete standard equipment, and once I've accumulated enough, I just circulate it."
"I appreciate your kind gesture, and I have plenty of equipment."
Rosen stood up and gently hugged her. "I need to pack my things and get ready to leave."
Rosen still harbored some wariness towards her; he could have taken her on this mission.
However, he also knew that Gisele had previously worked as a driver for drug dealers, operating in a gray area, and no one could be sure whether she was deeply involved in the drug business.
This mission is too risky, and he dares not involve her rashly. To be on the safe side, it is best to keep his distance.
Giselle suddenly stood on tiptoe and gently kissed his lips. "Take care on your journey. Call me as soon as you get back safely. Your bonus is still with me."
Rosen raised an eyebrow. So, every time he comes here from now on, he can "collect debts" first? This is a unique privilege.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely come back safely."
Releasing his embrace, Rosen turned and went back into the house, quickly and efficiently changing his clothes before entering the elevator.
Beneath the silent apartment building, the empty streets were deserted. In the pitch-black night, a classic Pontiac Firebird lay silently, its body gleaming with a cold metallic sheen under the streetlights.
The moment the engine ignited, a deep, resonant roar instantly shattered the stillness of the night, delivering a powerful surge of energy. The car steadily drove out of the apartment complex and gradually disappeared into the darkness.
