Farming Life Starting in Africa
Chapter 260 Fu Longsheng Joins the Party
On the upstairs balcony, Gisele stood quietly, her gaze following the car lights as they disappeared into the distance, her eyes deep and complex.
Rosen spoke Chinese on the phone just now. Although she couldn't understand a word, she knew his accent was very authentic.
It's strange in itself that a white person can speak such fluent Chinese. She had actually had someone check Rosen's information these past few days; the title "Michael" was definitely fake, but she couldn't find his photo in the database either.
This man harbored too many secrets; the more she learned about him, the more mysterious and unpredictable he seemed.
On the highway, the night was thick and inky, and the wilderness on both sides stretched out as far as the eye could see. Rosen was focused on driving when his cell phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.
He answered the phone with one hand, and an elderly male voice came through the receiver, his tone steady and strong: "Are you Rosen?"
"It's me, the one who runs the farm in McCarran. I have a job for you." Rosen got straight to the point, "Going across the border to Mexico to rescue a girl, interested?"
Fu Longsheng calmly said, "Tell me the specific causes and consequences, risks and rewards, and then I will make a decision."
Rosen recounted the entire story of how Guan Yuming's daughter was kidnapped by drug lords and found herself in grave danger.
After hearing the whole story, Fu Longsheng pondered for a moment: "So the core of the mission is for us to infiltrate the drug lord's core territory and rescue the hostages safely?"
"That's right," Rosen confirmed. "Interested in joining?"
Fu Longsheng was very cautious and continued to press, "How many men do you have on hand right now? What's their equipment like?"
Rosen truthfully replied, "There are three of us, including me. They are all genuine Vietnam War veterans with extensive combat experience."
Lone Wolf, being that age and so close to Barney, was most likely a Vietnam War veteran, a tough guy who had survived countless battles.
"A Vietnam War veteran?"
Fu Longsheng's tone showed a clear pause, tinged with surprise. He himself had fought in the Vietnam War and knew best the brutality of that war; those who survived the mountains of corpses and seas of blood were all ruthless characters.
But then I thought about it again, and the image of three old men teaming up to raid a drug lord's hideout instantly came to mind.
He couldn't help but tease, "So this is some kind of senior citizen team building activity? Treating rescuing people from a drug lord's hideout as some kind of after-dinner pastime?"
Rosen was speechless for a moment, truly unable to refute.
He quickly explained to salvage the situation: "I'll take care of all the equipment, and the firepower is more than enough. You don't need to worry about supplies. Your main responsibility is to control the battlefield vision and provide long-range fire support."
After saying that, he thought to himself, "I really can't rely entirely on these two old men. Who knows if they have high blood pressure or high blood sugar?"
If, in the heat of the moment, one of them experiences a spike in blood pressure and the other faints from low blood sugar, our group would be completely wiped out, just adding to our own troubles.
He continued, "The team is still missing a striker. I will personally lead the team deep into the heart of the enemy territory to launch the main attack."
Hearing that Rosen would personally lead the attack, Fu Longsheng felt much more at ease. Rosen's marksmanship by the lake had left a deep impression on him; it was impossible to do that without extensive training and an excellent feel for the gun. Fu Longsheng felt that the mission's reliability had increased significantly.
When is the operation scheduled?
"The hostages' families will voluntarily enter the drug lord's headquarters tomorrow morning. We must find and rescue the hostages before a conflict breaks out or the drug lord tries to silence them."
Fu Longsheng grasped the key detail: "Just look for an opportunity to rescue people, why bother with deliberately protecting the surrounding area?"
Rosen chuckled. "As long as you don't know anyone there, you can 'be familiar' with everyone else."
Fu Longsheng's eye twitched violently on the other end of the phone, inwardly exclaiming how outrageous this was. What kind of insane rescue strategy was this? To put it bluntly, it meant killing everyone except the hostages? What kind of reincarnated killing machine was this? So bloodthirsty?
However, Rosen was also helpless. He couldn't really go and fight with others. Since he had so many weapons, why not focus fire on one of them first?
Eliminating the local fighting force is undoubtedly the best course of action.
"Okay, I'll take the job. The reward is six million, half of which will be paid as a deposit first."
Rosen blurted out instinctively, "RMB?"
Upon hearing this, Fu Longsheng's forehead veins throbbed, and he almost laughed in anger. His tone was clearly laced with rage: "Dollar!!"
He silently raised his hand and rubbed his temples, suspecting that he had developed high blood pressure from staying up late answering phone calls; otherwise, how could a single sentence cause his blood pressure to spike?
"How many people are coming in total?" Rosen asked casually.
"Including me, there are seven."
Rosen raised an eyebrow slightly, somewhat surprised.
He instantly realized that Fu Longsheng's men were known as the Seven Wolves, each with their own strengths and clear division of labor.
The one who had been hovering on the fringes of the team and rarely appeared was most likely Chen Xitai.
These seven people, each with their own thoughts and distinct personalities, were able to all come together, which is truly remarkable.
"No problem." Rosen finalized the cooperation. "Call me first thing tomorrow morning when you arrive in Nogalis. I'll provide the vehicles and weapons; you don't need to bring your own."
After ending his call with Fu Longsheng, Rosen immediately dialed Barney's number.
This veteran War Dog was injured some time ago, and we don't know how well he's recovered or whether he can play and help out.
The call connected, and the receiver was incredibly noisy, with music and loud noises coming from all directions. It was clearly the environment of a bar or nightclub. These old guys were indeed all night owls, never sleeping until the middle of the night.
"Feed?" Barney's voice was hoarse and tired, with a hint of drunken languor.
"How is your injury healing? Are you able to go on a mission?" Rosen asked directly.
Barney stared blankly for a moment, then asked in a bewildered tone, "Who are you?"
Rosen was stunned, both amused and exasperated: "You didn't save my number? I'm your Chinese neighbor next door!"
Barney coughed awkwardly, trying to cover it up: "I didn't check the caller ID, I didn't realize it for a moment."
In reality, he had never saved Rosen's phone number. He always felt that this wealthy Chinese neighbor was unlikely to contact him on his own initiative, and he was just being presumptuous and making a blunder.
Rosen, not wanting to listen to his explanation, said directly, "I have a cross-border mission to raid a drug cartel in Mexico. If you've recovered, you can come and lend a hand."
Barney replied helplessly, "No, my wound is still healing, and I can't do anything strenuous. I'm afraid I can't be of much help. But I can ask what kind of work it is."
"A drug lord kidnapped my partner's daughter, and I went to rescue her."
Barney then said, "I can't go, but I can recommend a top veteran to you."
"Who?"
"Have you heard of the lone wolf?"
Rosen responded casually, "Yes, he's already joined."
