Chapter 54 Gomorrah

Salomon had assumed Bayonetta's target would be a centaur-like angel like the Accolade or a lower-ranking archangel like the Enrapture to feed the demon, but he hadn't expected such a powerful figure to appear this time.

The *Order of the Celestial Order* divides angels into three lower, three middle, and three upper orders. The Affinity angels, most commonly seen by Bayonetta and Salomon, belong to the lower three orders. Each order contains many types of angels, and within the angelic order, there are also peculiar groups of angels called "Dear and Decorations." Above the lower three orders are the Archangels and Principal Angels.

The colossal Beloved angel was no lower-level creature like the Affinity angel; it was a first-tier, mid-level rank Power angel, a veritable machine of violence. Its identity was evidenced by the halo above its head. The golden axe in its hand was at least three people tall at its widest point, and even the thick stone-paved corridor was cleaved into pieces by the Beloved angel's massive axe.

Suddenly, a figure crashed through the stained glass window of the church's facade, landing gracefully on the stone floor. Immediately afterward, a burst of deep purple magical light erupted from the beloved angel's body. Bayonetta, of course, wasn't foolish enough to stay inside the church to fight. This wasn't the first time she'd encountered such an enemy; experienced as she was, she had smashed the glass and leaped into the plaza precisely to find an opportunity to attack the beloved angel's weakness.

She also considered that the elven knight might not be effective, but the frequent attacks would still be able to attract the beloved angel's attention.

"I must become the cornerstone for reclaiming the 'Left Eye'." The angel raised the giant axe, possessing enough intelligence to speak, though the voice was devoid of emotion, lacking even the proper pauses and intonation. "Let me witness the dark power residing within you."

"Then you can take it yourself, little puppy." Bayonetta sprinted away, but her beloved angel didn't waste any words, instead decisively swinging her axe. The axe blade struck precisely at the witch's head, but Bayonetta's thighs buckled, dodging the attack.

Time seemed to stand still as the witch leaped into the air, landing to the angel's right rear. She fired several more shots, and then, as if suddenly realizing what was happening, the beloved angel drew her axe, turned, and swung it horizontally at Bayonetta, who was still suspended in mid-air. The witch had nothing to step on, and she couldn't change her flight path, but Bayonetta still stretched out her body to face the rapidly approaching giant axe.

The instant the axe blade approached, she planted her feet on the back of the axe, leaping off with astonishing balance and speed, flipping in mid-air, headfirst towards her beloved angel. Everything seemed remarkably effortless, while Salomon, who had run to the side to watch, was pounding with anxiety—it had all been too dangerous. If Bayonetta had lost her footing even slightly, she wouldn't have been able to leap and would have been smashed into the ground by the axe.

"The second coming of the Creator is near!" The mechanical voice rang out again.

"Sorry." Even after the incredibly dangerous attack, Bayonetta's tone remained relaxed. "We just don't see eye to eye!"

With all her might, Beyoncé swung the axe that was dragging on the ground, but Bayonetta still managed to dodge it.

"What on earth happened?" Luca muttered to himself. What he had seen before were all small-scale scenes, but now, the cobblestone square seemed to be being smashed to pieces by an invisible hammer, probably the size of a car. He could feel the vibrations beneath his feet. He said, "Either I've gone mad, or the world has gone mad..."

"This world has gone mad, Mr. Luca. If you still want to face this after seeing it, I can't stop you from doing anything." Salomon held out his hand, blocking a flying brick, and said, "Anyway, you'll be dead soon enough, so I don't need to erase your memories."

"You're saying I'll die?"

Bayonetta deftly dodged every attack from her beloved angel, while the witch took the opportunity to fire a few shots at the angel's face-like object with her elven knight. The angel's attacks became increasingly frenzied and faster, but Bayonetta always managed to get close by using her axe to deliver a few hard blows to the angel.

By the time Beloved Angel realized something was wrong, Bayonetta was already standing on its back. Beneath the witch's feet was a huge pink bead, half of which was embedded in the angel's body, much more fragile than the Beloved Angel's thick outer shell.

Bayonetta slammed her high heel into the pillar, shattering the pink bead and gushing blood like a fountain. The angel's white body crumbled, revealing crimson flesh beneath the white shell, much like the marble floor it had smashed. All attacks ceased, and the giant axe was thrown to the ground. The excruciating pain in her back caused the beloved angel to involuntarily straighten her body, letting out a wail that was barely audible to humans.

The witch ran and leaped along its spine and head, landing on the handle of the giant axe.

"My companion in Hell told me he's starving and can't wait any longer. Sorry, I meant the Abyss, it's a word I just learned recently. Thank you, Boya." Bayonetta looked at the angel groaning in pain and said, "A prey like you will probably keep him quiet for a while."

"AVAVAGO (Increase the thunders!)" The witch unleashed astonishing magical power, chanting the incantation as she raised her hands behind her head. Her black leather coat, made of magic, suddenly disintegrated, revealing Bayonetta's stunning figure. Her thick, long black hair rose like tentacles, extending infinitely before converging into a salmon-shaped strand that plunged into the ground, embedding itself in a deep purple and black magic circle.

Behind the beloved angel, on the shattered ground, a magic circle of the same color appeared, from which Bayonetta's long hair rose.

A creature remarkably similar in appearance to a dragon emerged from its hair. Each of its eye sockets had four small, scarlet dots that gleamed with a ferocious red light. Two barbs grew from its two massive horns made of keratin, and several twisted horns extended from the sides of its long upper and lower jaws. On the top of the creature's head was half a blue human head, which was hairless and instead surrounded by sharp teeth like a crown.

But before the demon could even roar, it was tightly bound by Bayonetta's black hair, leaving only its horns, eyes, and a gaping maw full of sharp teeth exposed.

This is a demon named Gomorrah, named after a wicked city. The Book of Genesis in the Bible tells the story of the destruction of the cities Sodom and Gomorrah.

"Then the Lord rained sulfur and fire down from the Lord in heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah, and destroyed those cities and the whole plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and even the things growing on the ground," Salomon said, looking at the demon. He could also summon such a demon, which usually lived in the John's Forest, known as the "Demon Forest," but he did not want to summon such a creature unless absolutely necessary.

This was not only because he rejected the entry of overly powerful extradimensional beings into Earth, but also because he could not estimate how much magic power would be required to summon such a demon, a sum that the Vishanti could not possibly pay for.

"What are you talking about?" Luca asked Salomon, completely unable to understand what Salomon was saying.

"That demon, something you can't see," Salomon pointed forward.

"It's time for dinner, sweetheart," the witch said softly. Then, Gomorrah opened its massive jaws and bit down on the angel's upper body. "Oh, I forgot to mention. There's another reason I hunted you," Bayonetta's voice came again, but no one but Salomon could hear it, "I get pleasure from seeing your pained expression~"

Hmm? This woman seems a bit odd!
