Chapter 843 The Secret of the Crystal Ball
Although the outcome was already decided, entering the Castia Magic Circle to launch a final attack on the "Decora Corpse" would still carry the risk of injury. However, in order to reduce the corrosive effects of the corpse poison on the Castia Magic Circle, Connor still entered the magic circle without hesitation.
Seemingly sensing Connor's arrival, the "Decora Corpse," which had been battered and bruised by the Black Knights, suddenly became extremely excited. It charged left and right, crushing and destroying the two Black Knights in front of it. Then, it discerned Connor's location from the black mist swirling within the Castia magic circle, let out a roar like that of a wild beast, and charged straight at him.
Although the "Decora zombie" that Robbie had transformed into was already badly wounded and could not pose any effective threat to him, Connor still dared not be careless. He immediately used his Hades Dark Body Technique to cover his entire body with dark armor, and then gripped the Hades Spear tightly in his hand.
"Thirty meters, twenty meters, ten meters, eight meters..."
As Robbie's "Decora zombie" drew closer and closer, Connor could even feel the excitement and ferocity in the eyes protected by the fine scales. A cold smile immediately appeared on his lips, and without hesitation, Connor threw the Hades Spear in his hand!
The Hades Spear, gleaming with a sharp light, shot straight towards the "Decora Zombie's" vital point between the eyebrows like an arrow released from a bow.
"Click!"
With a crisp crack, the Pluton's Spear pierced the forehead of the "Decora zombie," which had already run five meters in front of Connor. The immense, terrifying impact sliced off half of its head...
Robbie's "Decora zombie" suffered such a fatal blow that it immediately collapsed into the Castia magic circle, motionless and completely dead.
Seeing this, Connor relaxed, but immediately threw the monster's corpse out of the Castia magic circle. He then took out several tools from his spatial ring to remove the corpse poison and began to work within the Castia magic circle.
Normally, relying solely on the Castilian magic circle to eliminate this bizarre monster would have taken ten to twenty minutes. However, Connor's adventurous spirit reduced this time to five minutes. The monster's time within the Castilian magic circle was shortened, thus reducing the circle's contamination by the corpse poison. After ten minutes of work within the circle, Connor completely cleansed the contaminating corpse poison, ensuring it wouldn't adversely affect his subsequent upgrade of the Castilian Staff to a third-tier enchanted item…
After finishing everything, Connor put the Castilian Staff back into his spatial ring and finally picked up Robbie's spatial ring—the one that had created a small crater in the ground. He was very eager to see how much he would gain from setting up such a grand scheme for that old man Robbie today…
After carefully examining Robbie's spatial ring, Connor, relying on his extensive alchemy skills, cracked the trap Robbie had set for him. He then used his mental power to invade the spatial ring and began to examine his spoils.
Looking at the dazzling array of potions, magic gold, magic stones, and other cultivation resources in the spatial ring, even Connor, an alchemist with considerable wealth, had to admit that Robley, this information broker, was truly rolling in money. No wonder he was a veteran first-level wizard. However, all the things that Robley had accumulated over half a lifetime now belonged to Connor Ferguson.
Although there were many good things in the Robbie space ring, and quite a few things that tempted Connor, the one that interested him the most was a crystal ball about the size of a tennis ball on Earth, with a slightly yellowish tint.
Although this crystal ball doesn't look particularly impressive, and even appears somewhat old, it can't compare to the valuable items in the spatial ring, such as magic crystals and the Attilius Magic Ring. Moreover, it's placed in a corner of the spatial ring, so it doesn't seem to be anything of great value.
However, as a fairly skilled alchemist, Connor could clearly see that the crystal ball had been used frequently. Moreover, although the crystal ball looked terrible and didn't seem like anything of value, when Connor tried to examine it with his spiritual power, he was surprised to find that the crystal ball was protected by a very tight restriction. If someone didn't know how to activate it and tried to break the restriction, it would automatically initiate a self-destruct program.
This is quite strange. Why would such an unremarkable crystal ball have such strict restrictions on it, and why was it used so frequently by Robbie? Could this explain something?
Aside from these, Connor didn't find any information related to the "Lich" in Robbie's spatial ring, which made Connor start to wonder if the information about the "Lich" was hidden in this seemingly inconspicuous but tightly sealed crystal ball.
Connor took the crystal ball out of Robbie's spatial ring and began to study it carefully. Half an hour later, looking at the yellowish crystal ball in his hand, Connor sighed with some disappointment. Through this half hour of study, Connor had gained a deeper understanding of the restrictions on the crystal ball.
Unfortunately, despite his understanding of the enchantment, Connor still had no clue how to break the spell on the crystal ball. He knew several methods for breaking enchantments, but hadn't yet tested them on this particular crystal ball. He was well aware that 99% of them would fail; forcing it would only result in one outcome: detonating the crystal ball! In short, with Connor's current alchemy skills, breaking the spell on this crystal ball was extremely difficult.
Shaking his head, Connor placed the crystal ball he found in Robbie's spatial ring into a jade box and carefully put it into his own spatial ring. Although Connor was very interested in what the crystal ball was for, he still needed to study the restrictions within it carefully and make a long-term plan before acting rashly.
After inspecting his gains from the battle, Connor used his own refined oil to completely destroy all traces of the battle in the forest. Then he left the Baresi Forest and flew towards the city of Frosinone.
