"Who are you?" Seeing someone walking towards his superior, Officer Sterling, a loyal protector of his boss, quickly stopped the person. If it weren't for the person's respectable appearance and the fact that he directly called out Inspector Rhodes's name, Officer Sterling would have done much more than just stop him!
"Officer Sterling, don't be so presumptuous!" After seeing who it was, Rodriguez took a deep breath and whispered:
After calling out to Sterling, Rhodesley stepped forward, extended his right hand, and said, "I really didn't expect to see Master Connor here again!"
Connor smiled and shook hands politely with Inspector Rhodes, then said, "I was also quite surprised to see Inspector Rhodes again."
"What's going on this time? Such a big commotion, is someone robbing a bank at gunpoint?" After exchanging pleasantries, Connor glanced at the pedestrians being checked on the street and asked with some curiosity:
In his memory, even when a bank was robbed, Ruen had never seen such a large-scale operation, with even military police being deployed armed.
Inspector Rodri shook his head and said seriously, "This is much more serious than a bank robbery. Not only here, but all four districts of Rune—east, west, south, and north—have begun a major search. I wonder what young Master Connor is up to?"
While surprised that Rodri mentioned that inspections had begun in all four districts of Rune, Connor chuckled and said, "Isn't the Verona Club just ahead? I had a few drinks with some friends there and was thinking of walking back to my apartment for a stroll. I didn't bring my citizen card, and I happened to see Inspector Rodri here for inspections, so I came up to plead my case and see if you could make an exception!"
"It's no big deal!" Inspector Rodri said after a moment's thought upon hearing Connor's words.
"Officer Sterling, this is Master Connor Ferguson, a loyal Imperial nobleman. Let him leave!" Inspector Rhodes ordered, pointing at Connor.
"Young Master Connor, please!" Seeing that his superior had spoken, Officer Sterling naturally had no objections and very politely directed the armed military police to discreetly make way for Connor.
"Thank you very much, Inspector Rhodes. I will certainly visit you in the future!" Connor smiled and expressed his gratitude to Rhodes before turning and walking out of the path that had been cleared for him.
Watching Connor walk further and further away, Officer Sterling walked up to his superior and whispered, "Inspector, we've been ordered to thoroughly check each of them. If we let one go like this..."
"Hmph! Officer Sterling, of course we have to check everyone carefully in the South, North, and West districts, but this is the East district, the wealthy area of Loen. Just look at the Verona Club up ahead—that big shot there, who knows if there's something fishy going on there…? But didn't the higher-ups specifically instruct us not to go in?"
"Besides, this is a matter for the Church of Storms, it has nothing to do with us. Why are you working so hard? Let go of what you should let go of, do what you should do, talk less and do more!" Inspector Rhodes snorted coldly, his words showing little goodwill towards the church.
"The Church of Storms?" Walking down the street, Connor narrowed his eyes and slowly withdrew his projected mental energy. He had just used his mental energy to hear the entire conversation between Inspector Rhodes and Officer Sterling.
Having successfully returned to his apartment and lay down on his bed, Connor couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
If what Inspector Rhodes said is true, the cause of this incident should be a major problem with the Church of Storms, which is why the whole city is under martial law and such a large-scale operation has been launched. Shouldn't the Church of Storms be focusing its energy on dealing with the "Guacertino incident"? Could it be that something went wrong with that?
But that doesn't make sense! If the "Guacertino incident" wasn't resolved, the Imperial Administration shouldn't be helping the Storm Church. Although Rune is the Storm Church's traditional sphere of influence, and the Church has a strong influence on the Imperial Administration there, it's just an impression; the decision-making power is still in the hands of the Imperial Administration!
Moreover, Connor remembered that George had told him that his father, Mr. Have, and several other bigwigs in the political and business circles of Ruen, as well as high-ranking officials, had reached a consensus on handling the "Guacertino incident" with a tough stance. There was no reason to show weakness at this time!
Thinking about all this, Connor shook his head. He had too little information to analyze anything useful. To find out what really happened, it seemed he would have to go through George. Luckily, he had classes at Green University tomorrow, so he could meet with George.
The next day, when Connor passed through layers of military police checks and arrived at Green University, he found that George, who always arrived on time, was already waiting for him in the classroom. Upon seeing him, George immediately approached with a smile, as if to say something.
Connor silenced George with a look, glanced at the other students in the classroom (signaling that the classroom was too crowded and noisy), turned around and led George out of the classroom to a secluded grove of trees on campus.
As soon as they entered the grove, George couldn't help but give Connor a thumbs up again, saying, "Connor, your analysis is spot on! That Olson guy, at the same time Director Ranieri ordered tableware from the factory at the Bernabéu, also ordered the same things from that factory, only he ordered a few more items than Ranieri. Now his shipment is hidden in his West Hill estate!"
Hearing that his analysis had been entirely accurate, Connor nodded and calmly asked, "George, what are your next steps?"
"Of course we're going to take him down! He stole the goods, and that guy tried to pull such a dirty trick on me. I have to teach him a lesson!" George clenched his fist and said coldly.
"Your father, Mr. Harvey, favors Olson, so don't use your men. Find some reliable newcomers to bring the goods back, and you'd better not harm Olson!" Sensing the raw coldness in George's words, Connor frowned slightly and instructed him:
"That guy messed with me like this, Connor, you're telling me not to hurt him?" George said incredulously.
"George, don't you understand? Mr. Harvey is Olson's backer. You've hurt Olson, and Mr. Harvey will definitely investigate thoroughly. With Mr. Harvey's intelligence network in Rune, do you think your little tricks will get away with it?" Connor calmly retorted.
"So I'm just going to let that guy go like this?" Hearing Connor's analysis, George fell silent for a long while before finally saying, somewhat reluctantly:
