Chapter 12 Awkwardness

Chapter 12 Awkwardness

"Let me go right now! I don't care who you are! If you keep this up, I'm going to scream!" The girl wearing a white veil spoke in a clear voice, filled with shock and anger, but in the tavern setting, it had a poignant beauty to it.

"Is the pretty little girl about to call for help? Let's see what she looks like first!" The red-haired boy let out a strange laugh and stretched out his thick arm to rip off the girl's veil.

As the veil fell away, a delicate and beautiful oval face came into view. The girl's skin was fair and smooth, but because she was angry, she clenched her teeth and widened her almond eyes. However, instead of being frightening, she looked rather cute.

Connor shook his head and prepared to leave. Clearly, what he was witnessing was a scene resembling a wealthy and powerful bully harassing a beautiful and innocent young woman. Although he now possessed the ability to be a hero, he had no desire to do so, unlike those who needlessly stir up trouble. There's a saying, "Good people don't live long, but evil people live a thousand years." While he didn't want to be a villain, Connor still wanted to live longer, and to achieve that, the first thing he needed to do was avoid meddling in other people's business!

As his hand touched the tavern doorknob, Connor's expression suddenly turned somewhat strange. The girl's pure and beautiful face gradually overlapped with a familiar face from his memory.

Touching his nose, Connor realized with some embarrassment that he might be about to contradict himself.

Connor casually patted the shoulder of the heavily made-up woman who was covering her mouth and watching the spectacle, and whispered, "Hey! Who's that redhead over there?"

After sizing up Connor's muscular physique and expensive clothes, the woman immediately put on a fawning smile and whispered ingratiatingly, "That's Mr. Hedira, the younger brother of the current warden of the First Prison in Rune City!"

Although Connor found the cheap perfume typical of streetwalkers disgusting, he was quite satisfied with her answer and casually tossed her another fivepence as a reward.

Amidst the girl's surprised exclamations and blatant flirtatious glances, Connor turned up the collar of his trench coat, pulled his top hat down as low as possible, grabbed a glass of beer, and walked over to the grinning red-haired boy.

"Help me, help me..." The veil was pulled off, and the girl, realizing she was in real trouble, started calling for help, just as she had said. Her big, tearful eyes looked pitifully at everyone around her, hoping to get help from someone.

Unfortunately, in a place like Old Man Morgan's pub, filled with gangsters, prostitutes, and wanted criminals, how could anyone with a strong sense of justice be willing to offend the warden's brother, the red-haired Khedira, for her sake?

Everyone around was watching the girl with amusement, some even displaying lewd smiles as their calloused hands slowly reached towards...

"Go ahead and scream! You can scream your lungs out here, it won't do you any good!" Seeing that the "cute little lamb" in her hands had actually started to scream, the red-haired Hedira showed no anger whatsoever. Instead, a perverted excitement appeared on her face, as if she was about to... take the girl out of the public eye.

However, just as Khedira's arm was only an inch away from the girl, it could not go any further.

Khedira's arrogant smile froze for a moment. He stared blankly at the tall young man who was holding his arm and covering his face. He seemed not to have expected that someone would actually stand up for this little girl in front of him!

Without giving Khedira any time to react, Connor smashed the glass hard into Khedira's face.

Connor, who has begun practicing the optimized breathing technique, has not yet made great progress in his training as a knight, but all of his physical fitness indicators have already broken through the level of two. How terrifying is his full-force attack?

"Bang!"

With a muffled thud, Khedira, who had just shouldered the glass, let out a bloodcurdling scream and fell backward to the ground, rolling around in agony!

Connor showed no mercy to Khedira, whom he had knocked down with a glass. Wearing leather boots, he showed no sign of stopping, jumping up and stomping on him!

"Bang! Bang! Bang..."

After a few blows, seeing that Khedira beneath his feet was a bloody mess, a lump of mud that wouldn't make a sound even when trampled on, Connor finally stopped. Calmly adjusting his trench coat, he turned to the somewhat terrified girl and whispered, "Valga, are you alright?"

Connor doesn't consider himself a good person, nor is he a lecher who can't resist beautiful women. The reason he stepped in to save the girl from the jaws of death is certainly not because he wants to show off or be a hero!

It was because the girl in front of him, named "Valga," was his classmate at Green University, and Varga had a fairly good relationship with the former Connor Ferguson.

Connor Ferguson was originally a diligent knight who practiced knightly training hard every day. However, such high-intensity training made it easy for him to injure himself. Therefore, the kind and lovely little angel from the medical department of Green University, Miss Varga, became Connor Ferguson's best doctor.

Connor believed that since he had accepted the identity of Connor Ferguson, he should naturally take on his karma and grudges as well. Rescuing Varga within his power was something that was entirely in line with Connor's values.

Seemingly frightened by Connor's violence, Varga's delicate face simply nodded blankly.

Seeing Varga's state, Connor frowned slightly, but at that moment, Varga let out a terrified scream: "Behind me..."

As the scream rang out, Connor's heart tightened immediately, and he instinctively turned to the side. However, in the instant Connor turned to the side, a dagger flashing with a cold light stabbed fiercely into the spot where he had just been standing.

Suddenly, the red-haired boy Hedira, who had just been trampled like a pile of rotten flesh, stood up silently. With a crazed look on his face, he launched a sneak attack on Connor.
