The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts
Chapter 78 Harry's First Fire-Stealing Work
"The ratio of gunpowder to metal and its placement must take many factors into account; chemistry is the most fundamental element... Alchemy, like fire-stealing, is a vast and complex discipline."
Harry carefully examined the small metal pieces on the table and the bottle of fresh bitter black salt. Repairing the old rifle wasn't too difficult, and Harry was confident he could finish it quickly. He might even be able to make some optimizations and modifications to adapt it to the bullets he made himself.
However, bullet making became a major problem for Harry. He had never dealt with anything like it before. If anything, he could take a shortcut with the Rifle by using the Restore to Originality spell, but he could only rely on his own knowledge and skills to make bullets.
"Of course, if you've forgotten, I can remind you... These are all things you've already learned. [Flame Script] represents flames and gunpowder, while [Bells and Bronze Ware] represent metal."
"But this workshop isn't supposed to be used to make this kind of thing, is it?!"
Harry complained helplessly. Master Nico's former residence did have some family-style workshop facilities, but the problem was that these facilities were simply not enough for Harry to achieve his goal.
[Nico Flamel's House]: A small house that houses the daily necessities of a great alchemist, as well as some portable materials and books (Characteristics: 2 Hearts, 3 Lamps, 3 Casting).
"Think about it again? If all else fails, you can always use magic... Great arts and magic are both supplementary methods. Why would you discard one just because you've used the other?"
Red sighed helplessly. Fire and metal are two things that alchemy can never escape, and for some reason, Harry always forgets his magic when learning the spell of stealing fire, which gives Red a headache.
"By the way, it's true that some people have started to have ulterior motives, but they're probably not targeting the two of us, they're targeting this former residence... That's strange, it's been so many years, and people still have designs on this former residence."
Red glanced out the window, and the faint gaze confirmed to him that someone was indeed watching the house, or rather, that they were being watched because the two of them had entered the house.
"After all, according to you, this house is the former residence of a great alchemist of our time. No matter how you look at it, some people would want to take the risk, right?" Harry wasn't surprised. He slowly assembled the bullets, adding some magic as a 'glue' to make them more solid and prevent them from exploding.
"It seems they've had absolutely no clue how to get into this place, and then we just happened to arrive... So?"
"So what should we do? Tell the French Ministry of Magic? This is Paris, after all; even if a fight breaks out, it won't be easy to escape."
"So we only have one chance... no, I should say, we have to get out of Paris as soon as we've dealt with this group, so let's do it now, Harry, we have a lot of things to do."
Reid pulled out a book himself; he had finally found the most suitable book for his current reading among the books in the Silent Bookstore's collection.
"Speaking of which, Harry... have you ever made ink?"
Harry looked up at Red with a speechless expression.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I'm still fiddling with the bullets right now, can we please stop talking about this kind of thing?"
"No, what I mean is that you will also be involved in the ink-making process in the future. Ink can help you read...those obscure and difficult books. I think you understand what I mean."
Harry, who had just bent down to examine the metal bullet casing closely, looked up again.
"There's such a thing?!"
"Otherwise, why would I tell you this... Of course, there are also extremely powerful inks, powerful enough to allow what is written to reach Si Chen's eyes... But that's not what we're exploring right now."
Red picked up the book "The Light in the Ink Bottle," ignoring Harry's growing curiosity, and began to read intently.
"The Light in the Ink Bottle": Musgrave, the 4th Baron de Wolf, tentatively mentions the "Covenant of Blanccourt" and some clues about a sacred ink he calls the "Moment of Revelation." (Mystery: 8 [Lamp]) (Contains the teachings of a great art: [Ink of Revelation] x2)
[Ink of Revelation LV2]: History is revealed through these inks. (Characteristics: 3 Lamps, 2 Moths)
The inspiring atmosphere inside the house certainly helped Harry and Red's research, and Harry completed his first work in this small house in Paris.
[Hunting Rifle]: A rifle refurbished and repaired by an apprentice. It has a concealed firing mechanism and immense power, but its reload speed is almost identical to that of a flintlock musket. (Characteristics: 2-blade)
[Rifle Bullet]: A bullet specially crafted by a Fire Thief Apprentice. Rather than a penetrating bullet, it is more like a launched explosive. (Attributes: 2 Casting, 1 Blade)
"Looks pretty good. Even if we encounter magical creatures, we won't have to run away..."
Red praised Harry's debut work, after all, Harry's work did not have any obvious flaws.
"They seem to be getting impatient... Shall we leave tonight?"
Harry began packing up the things in the house. Although Nicolas Flamel had said that the things in his former home were not very important, Harry still felt it was too wasteful to let them fall into the hands of robbers and thieves.
"Sure, Harry... let's have a challenge: let's quiet them down without using any spells, and with the other side using as few spells as possible."
Red said this to Harry, and the two young men began to plan their next battle. Although the other side looked like just a group of bandit dark wizards, they must have their own secrets to stay in a place like Paris for so long. If they underestimated them, they might be in danger. So Harry and Red were designing their plan with an extremely safe mindset.
------------------------------------------------
"You mean...the two of them just boarded the train to Devon and disappeared without a trace?! Are you kidding me?! A bunch of Aurors can't even find two little kids?!"
Fudge slapped his forehead. He really didn't know how to report this to Dumbledore. A group of Aurors had used their scouting magic all the way and had only managed to find out that two young wizards had gone to Devonshire. He was now terrified of being caught in the crossfire of Dumbledore's wrath.
Meanwhile, a Ministry of Magic employee named Arthur Weasley was talking to his family about the rumor that two young wizards had gone missing.
