The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts
Chapter 16, the first topic from Silent Bookstore.
"Harry, study hard... We will encounter similar great arts in the future that you will need to learn. The handling, identification, and utilization of plants are an indispensable part of your medicine making."
Red reminded Harry, and then the two of them were assigned to large groups composed of their respective houses to begin learning how to handle low-difficulty, low-risk materials such as white sage and daisies.
"Hannah, be careful not to cut it off carelessly here. We need to ensure that the most essential part of the white safflower is preserved intact, otherwise the potion's effectiveness will be greatly reduced..."
Reid would occasionally help Professor Sprout remind his classmates of the tricks of handling materials, which undoubtedly earned Professor Sprout's praise, and she generously gave Reid three points.
Harry gradually calmed down and began to observe and imitate Professor Sprout's movements. Since he knew nothing, the first step in learning should be imitation. He should learn and improve his imitation as he went, until he truly mastered the skill.
Herbalism was much gentler than Potions, and all the Hufflepuff wizards seemed much more relaxed. After all, their headmaster was indeed a gentle and respectable teacher, much easier to get along with than Snape, that big black bat.
"Harry, is it alright to see you at the library later?"
Red came over and mentioned it. Harry nodded without hesitation and decided to decline Ron's invitation to play wizard chess. Playing chess was indeed a form of exercise, but Red clearly had something more important to talk to him about now, so wizard chess, as a form of entertainment, should be put on hold. The stinging sensation on his forehead still lingered in his memory. He remembered clearly what Red had told him, and it was definitely not something that could be described as simple malice.
That was something that posed a direct threat to his life, and only in this way would the disciplined scars react; his body was reminding him that something was about to kill him.
Ron wasn't too surprised by Harry's refusal. Harry's willingness to work hard and Ron's desire to enjoy himself first didn't affect their friendship. Besides, there were plenty of people in Gryffindor who wanted to play wizard chess, so he didn't need to drag Harry into it right now.
So Harry easily followed Red to the Hogwarts library.
Mrs. Pince, the librarian, clearly glanced at the scar on Harry's head twice before nodding to the two quiet little ones.
Red pointed to the bookshelves of varying heights to the side, and Harry understood and walked over, only daring to speak softly when he entered the depths of the library.
What books do we need to find now?
"Let's finish the assignment Professor Binns gave us first, a paper on the history of magic... and he's assigned a particular character. We need to look for clues in the selected character. The books here should have relevant sections. Now it's time to test our search skills."
Harry nodded. Finishing his homework first was a good habit, and he had actually forced himself to memorize more in the History of Magic course than he had imagined. If it was for completing that paper, it wasn't that difficult, and he did feel that his ability to summarize and organize information had indeed improved.
"By the way, next I will give you your first assignment for the Silent Bookstore: to make a [Tilde Lens] and then attach it to your glasses."
Harry paused for a moment. After learning about the "Commandment of the Scars," he knew it was a simple but fragile optical device, incredibly effective at causing headaches and starting fires. However, the idea of replacing his glasses lenses with "Tilde Lenses" was still somewhat beyond his imagination.
"Harry, I don't mean to force you to do anything, but your scars have revealed the hidden dangers. We must improve your weapons and strength as soon as possible, and protecting the 'Savior' is the most important thing to do now."
Harry nodded. Red wasn't lying about this. Although he didn't know what was causing his scar to ache, given the objective danger, he could only begin to shoulder his responsibilities.
"Besides, I could never just watch my apprentice get killed by some random guy, right? But I can't be by your side all the time, so I can only teach you these things so that you can be more prepared to deal with whatever might happen when needed."
Harry understood. He looked at Red with gratitude. Some of the knowledge stored in the Silent Bookstore was even more incredible than magic, but Red had so generously given it to him to learn. Even though Harry was already an apprentice, this knowledge should not have been easily passed on. Harry remembered Red's kindness to him.
"I understand, I'll give it a try. I'll start when I get back to the housing estate tonight."
Harry nodded seriously, which pleased Red greatly. At least the savior didn't think he was special, which was very helpful in learning the Great Arts.
"We'll probably have a lot more to do going to do. The library and housing will likely take up a lot of our time, so we'll only be able to exercise in the mornings from now on... As for other things, we can only say we'll talk about them later."
As two eleven-year-old children, thinking about these things is still too far-fetched. Even Red can only focus on improving his own strength and figuring out which bastard wants to mess with the free laborer he finally chose.
Time always flies when you're studying, especially when you're studying voluntarily.
Before Harry could react, it was already dinnertime. He rubbed his hungry stomach and looked at Red.
"Let's go eat... Dinner at Hogwarts is free, that's great..." Reed licked his lips. Compared to a gourmet meal that cost two pence, a free student meal was naturally more appealing, not to mention that the food at Hogwarts was quite delicious.
As the two were leaving, they saw a little wizard with fluffy brown hair.
"Hermione... she actually..." Harry was a little surprised. To be honest, his first impression of Hermione wasn't very good, both in terms of her tone and demeanor. However, Hermione was much friendlier than Dudley. After figuring out that she meant no harm, Harry readily became friends with Hermione.
"You guys are here too!"
Stepping out of the library, Hermione was finally able to speak loudly. She looked at the duo with some surprise, her understanding of them completely changed.
