Hong Kong: Black Gold Tycoons
Chapter 63 is too high
Michelle was so nervous because she had personally witnessed Chen Fei casually order several senior executives to act as his henchmen and kill a member of parliament.
"It's alright." Chen Fei waved his hand, indicating that Mi Xue didn't need to be nervous.
He then asked Sherry, "Why would a young girl like you want to know these things?"
Sherry rested her chin on her hand, staring intently at him. "Because I've never met anyone like you. The bosses my sister knows are either smooth-talking businessmen or pretentious rich guys; they all talk a lot of nonsense. You're different."
"What's different?"
"I can't quite put my finger on it." Sherry tilted her head and thought for a moment. "It's just different. When you speak, there's no fawning look in your eyes. It's like you don't care about anyone."
Michelle coughed softly beside her, "Little sister, you talk too much."
"I was just curious." Sherry pouted, but restrained herself under her sister's gaze, picked up the orange juice in front of her, took a sip, and stopped asking questions.
Chen Fei, however, became more interested in the little girl.
At the age of fifteen or sixteen, he was bold, quick-witted, and had good observation skills.
He then confirmed again, "Do you really want to enter the entertainment industry?"
"Yes, I do." Sherry put down her orange juice, her eyes lighting up again. "I'm serious, I'm not kidding."
"Do you have any talents? Singing? Dancing? Acting?"
Sherry blinked. "I can learn."
Chen Fei smiled and said, "Just being good at learning isn't enough. There are plenty of people in this industry who are better looking than you, and plenty of people who are better at learning than you. You need to have something that others don't have."
"Then tell me, what do I have?"
"You're bold," Chen Fei said. "Being bold is your advantage. You dare to say what others don't dare to say, and you dare to do what others don't dare to do. This kind of personality translates to audience appeal in front of the camera."
Sherry's eyes lit up as she listened, and she nodded vigorously.
Michelle sighed beside her, knowing she couldn't stop her sister from acting like this.
She turned to look at Chen Fei, a hint of helplessness in her eyes, "You actually encouraged her?"
"She chose this path herself. You can stop her for a while, but not forever," Chen Fei said with a smile. "Rather than letting her wander aimlessly, it's better to point her in the right direction. At least with you watching over her and me protecting her, nothing serious will happen."
Michelle remained silent for a few seconds, then said nothing more.
She knew Chen Fei's methods all too well; when he said he would protect her, he really meant it.
There are many people in Hong Kong who can say things like "I'll chop off anyone who dares to have designs on me," but Chan Fei is definitely one of them, and he really does it.
"Then tell me," Sherry leaned forward excitedly, "what should my first step be? Should I participate in a beauty pageant first? Or should I go directly to a TV station?"
"What's the rush?" Michelle tapped her. "You have plenty of time now. Focus on your studies, learn what you need to learn, and practice what you need to practice. Once you've built a solid foundation, opportunities will come naturally."
"But……"
"No buts." Michelle frowned. "What do you think the entertainment industry is? If you go in and know nothing and can't do anything, who will promote you? Who will give you a chance? Even though I've been in the entertainment industry for many years, I can't just force a pretty face into it, can I?"
Sherry opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but realized that she didn't really have any outstanding talents, so she swallowed her words.
After chatting for a while, Sherry got up and went to the restroom.
Watching her figure disappear into the distance.
"Are you really going to help her?" Michelle couldn't help but ask.
"She's your sister, how could I say I wouldn't help?" Chen Fei smiled. "Besides, this girl is quite interesting. She's bold, has sharp eyes, and is cut out for this kind of work."
Michelle was silent for a moment, then said, "I don't want her to go down this path. You know how chaotic this industry is."
"That's why she needs you even more," Chen Fei said. "With me protecting her, no one dares to touch her. You've seen my methods before."
Michelle shook her head helplessly and sighed softly, "You..."
Chen Fei finished his coffee and said, "I have some things to do right now. I'll come see you tonight. Bye."
As soon as he stood up, he added, "I hope to see your little sister at home tonight, you know what I mean."
Michelle watched him leave with a complicated expression.
When Shirley returned, she only saw her older sister idly flipping through magazines on the table.
"Where's Chen Sheng?" she asked as soon as she sat down.
Michelle said, "He had to leave first."
Hearing this, Shirley blinked and asked, "Sister, what's your relationship with him? Why do you seem like a submissive wife in front of him?"
Michelle raised her hand and tapped her on the head. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"That's true." Sherry rubbed her head and chuckled. "But I think he's a nice guy, and he's reliable. He's much better than those glib-tongued bosses."
"It is good," Michelle said insincerely, "but it's too good, so good that it makes me uneasy."
Anyway, she got on this pirate ship without really knowing what was going on, and she even felt that it would be difficult for her to get off.
Sherry didn't understand what her sister meant, nor did she care; she was only focused on excitedly planning her future in the entertainment industry.
After leaving the coffee shop, Chen Fei went directly to Ya Zi's office at the company.
When Ya Zi saw him, she said, "I got Zhu Tao's legal property information from the police."
Tell me about it.
"Although Zhu Tao is a drug dealer, he has been operating in Hong Kong for more than ten years, and the number of businesses he has laundered is far more than I estimated." Ya Zi picked up a document. "Let me sort it out again. Zhu Tao's legitimate businesses can be roughly divided into five sectors."
"There are three large nightclubs in Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui. The largest one is called Oriental Palace, located on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. It covers an area of more than 12,000 square feet and is luxuriously decorated. It is one of the most famous nightclubs in Hong Kong."
"There are two more, one in Mong Kok and the other in Yau Ma Tei. They are a bit smaller, but they are also landmarks in their respective areas. The total market value of the three nightclubs is probably between seven and eight million."
Chen Fei nodded, signaling her to continue.
"Zhu Tao also owns the entire properties of four commercial buildings. One of them is in Mong Kok, with six floors and a total area of about 20,000 square feet. It is currently rented to banks, gold shops and several retail stores, with a monthly rental income of about HK$80,000."
"One building is in Sham Shui Po, eight stories high, with a total area of about 30,000 square feet, and a monthly rental income of about HK$60,000. The other two buildings are in Jordan and Yau Ma Tei, in slightly worse locations, but the total area combined exceeds 40,000 square feet. The market value of the four buildings is about HK$12 million."
"Twelve million?" Chen Fei became interested.
"Yes." Ya Zi opened the third document. "Zhu Tao also controls a small real estate company with three plots of land in the New Territories. They are all quite large, with the largest one in Tuen Mun, about 30,000 square feet. It is currently vacant, but if the New Territories are developed in the future, the land price may increase several times."
"The other two plots are in Yuen Long and Fanling, each around 10,000 square feet. The market value of the three plots is estimated to be between HK$800,000 and HK$1 million. Because they have not yet been developed, the land prices are not high at present, but there is room for appreciation."
"What about the others?" Chen Fei asked.
"Zhu Tao controls a transportation company with more than 20 trucks and a warehouse covering about 5,000 square feet. The company mainly does local transportation and warehousing. The company's books are clean. In terms of asset value alone, the fleet, warehouse and licenses are probably between 1.5 million and 1.8 million."
Ya Zi flipped to the fourth document: "Zhu Tao still owns the property rights to two restaurants. One is in Mong Kok, a three-story building, which is a well-established local brand with a monthly rent of about 20,000. The other is in Causeway Bay, in a better location, a two-story building, with a monthly rent of about 30,000. The combined value of the two restaurants is about 2 million."
She flipped to the last document: "The last piece states that Zhu Tao also owns several street-front shops in the Yau Tsim Mong district. They are all in good locations, ranging in size from 500 to 1,000 square feet, totaling seven shops. The market value of these shops is estimated at around three million, with a total monthly rental income of about forty thousand."
Then spread the five documents out on the table and line them up in a row.
"The nightclub is estimated to be worth between seven and eight million, the commercial building is estimated to be worth around twelve million, the land is estimated to be worth between eight hundred thousand and one million, the transportation company is estimated to be worth between one million five hundred thousand and one million eight hundred thousand, the restaurant is worth around two million, and all the various street shops together are worth about three million."
At this point, Ya Zi looked at Chen Fei and said, "Adding all of these together, Zhu Tao's legitimate assets are worth between 26 million and 28 million."
"Twenty-seven million?" Chen Fei shook his head. "That's too high."
Ya Zi added, "I also think it's too high. Now that we've already colluded with high-ranking government officials, we must acquire these industries without spending a penny. That's in line with our company's mission."
"How so?" Chen Fei asked her.
