Full-Time Magister: Rebirth of Mo Fan as the Primordial Evil Phoenix
Chapter 9 Now that I've been reborn, who would still follow the plot step by step?
A new semester, a new beginning. Mo Fan successfully obtained the Stardust Magic Artifact with the highest score in the assessment.
The night wind was strong, making the rusty iron door of the rooftop clang loudly.
Mo Fan crouched in the shade behind the water tower. The concrete ground at his feet was scorching hot from the daytime sun, and now it felt stiflingly hot.
He stared at his palm.
The stardust artifact that once glowed with blue light is now reduced to nothing but ashes. Just half a minute ago, the little mudfish on his chest pounced on him like a vicious dog, completely draining the artifact of its energy.
A gust of wind blew by, and the magical artifact in Mo Fan's hand turned into white ash, smearing his hand with it.
This is worth millions, and it's priceless.
Mo Fan rubbed the dust off his hands and grinned. In his previous life, the little mudfish on his chest had swallowed the Stardust Magic Artifact whole, nearly scaring him to death. Reborn, this time he didn't even try to stop it.
So what if there's a price but no market? If the little mudfish doesn't eat its fill, its stardust can't quickly cultivate to the nebula level. As it meditates for the past few months, it has increasingly discovered that its magical energy reserves in this life are ten times that of before, which means it needs more resources to break through.
In this magical world where human life is as worthless as grass, strength is the only true measure of power.
As for how to clean up this mess of millions...
He pulled out his phone, its screen cracked at one corner, and pressed the call button. He wasn't flustered at all, because he knew all too well what was going to happen next.
Throughout Tianlan Magic High School, and even the entire Bo City, there's only one person who could easily pull out millions to fill the hole. And the only one with the foresight to recognize Little Mudskipper's value without immediately dissecting and studying him is...
Tang Yue, a mysterious wealthy woman.
The phone rang three times before being answered.
"Teacher Tang Yue," Mo Fan said in a hoarse voice, "something's happened. That Stardust Magic Artifact at school... seems to be a defective product; it broke on its own."
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone.
"Where?"
"The rooftop of the boys' dormitory."
"Stay where you are and don't move," Tang Yue said in a deep voice.
Fifteen minutes later.
With a loud bang, the iron gate to the rooftop was kicked open.
Tang Yue came up wearing a loose silk nightgown underneath and a fitted black trench coat over it. She ran quickly, and a fragrant breeze wafted from under her trench coat. The air was filled with a faint scent of shower gel, mixed with the earthy smell of the rooftop.
She walked up to Mo Fan, her high heels clicking on the concrete floor.
"Where are the things?" Tang Yue reached out her hand.
Mo Fan spread his hands, revealing only a pinch of ash.
Tang Yue stared at the pile of ash for a while. Suddenly, she took a step forward.
The two were very close. Mo Fan could feel the heat emanating from her body.
Tang Yue stopped looking at the pile of ash and instead lowered her head, her gaze fixed on the still faintly warm, dark black mudfish pendant on Mo Fan's chest.
A sly glint flashed in Tang Yue's beautiful eyes: "Where did this pendant come from?"
"It's an heirloom."
Mo Fan knew perfectly well what was going on. People from the Judgment Council had a certain level of understanding. Ordinary magical artifacts would crack if they broke; only when they were "consumed" by a higher-level vessel would they turn to ash. He had never intended to hide it from her from the beginning.
"Inferior product?" Tang Yue suddenly laughed, but her voice was cold. "Mo Fan, you've really grown bold, daring to use the school's public resources to feed a growing soul artifact, and you even dare to call me here to clean up your mess?"
Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't panic at all.
"Teacher, I was just cultivating when this thing suddenly went berserk, and I can't control it." Mo Fan leaned against the water tower, completely resorting to shamelessness. "I have no money or connections right now, I can't afford to pay for this. If the school's board of directors finds out, they'll definitely expel me. But I know that only Teacher Tang Yue, with your beauty, kindness, and financial resources, can protect me, your student."
Don't flatter me.
Tang Yue's face remained cold, but her mind was in turmoil. A growth-type magical artifact—just how many secrets did this kid hold? He was incredibly bold, highly talented, and shameless; he could even calmly seek her help in this situation.
Perfect timing! The task that needs a new face to carry out after the trial can be handled by this little rascal.
Tang Yue took half a step back, creating some distance.
"The market value of this thing wouldn't even cover the cost of selling you." Tang Yue crossed her arms, her long hair flying wildly in the night wind. "Tomorrow I'll take an identical one to the registrar's office to cover for it. I'll pay for it."
Mo Fan was secretly pleased.
"Don't thank me yet." Tang Yue pointed a finger at Mo Fan's nose. "Consider this money as a favor you owe me. I'll need you for things in the future. If you dare utter a single word of refusal, I'll personally rip that tattered pendant off your chest to pay off the debt, understand?"
Mo Fan understood, of course. It was just about dealing with the Black Vatican and tracking Chao He, wasn't it?
Even if Tang Yue hadn't said anything, he would have gotten involved sooner or later for the safety of Bo City. Right now, he could get millions in bodyguard fees for free. A sure-fire profit.
He grinned, revealing a set of white teeth.
"No problem, I'd even sell myself to the teacher, let alone do him a favor."
"Go back to sleep." Tang Yue turned around, ignoring his flirtatious remark, and instead walked to the edge of the rooftop and jumped off. As the magical aura lit up, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.
That little rascal, he's such a troublemaker.
Tang Yue's presence vanished completely into the night. Only the door hinges on the rooftop creaked in the wind.
Mo Fan walked to the edge of the rooftop and placed his hands on the rusty iron railing.
Night had fallen, and the neon lights of Bocheng resembled a giant, colorful spider web. A breeze carried the aroma of cumin from distant food stalls and the fumes of car exhaust.
It was peaceful and vibrant.
But as Mo Fan looked at the lights, a strong, lingering smell of blood inexplicably welled up in his nostrils.
Images of the bloodshed at the former Expo City flashed through my mind like rusty blades. Mutilated corpses, bits of flesh scattered everywhere, and giant, pungent rats surging out of the sewers like a black tide.
Should I ask someone higher up for help? Or should I go directly to the capital and find Military Commander Hua Zhanhong?
Mo Fan loosened the iron bars, rubbed the rough red rust on his fingertips, and chuckled.
Give me a break.
What is he now? A poor high school student who can't even pull out two hundred yuan from his pocket. He can't even get past the gatekeepers at the military compound, let alone meet those big shots at the top of the pyramid.
If he actually went out into the street shouting "The Black Vatican is going to massacre the city" or "I am the future Evil Saint King," before the sun rises tomorrow, he will either be locked in an iron cage as a madman by the Inquisition or have his throat slit by the Black Vatican's henchmen.
Don't forget, that madwoman Cardinal Salan is currently lurking in Bo City. She has spies everywhere in this place.
He currently lacks demonic powers and forbidden spell cultivation. This fragile, untested body could be easily blasted to smithereens by a mid-level spell.
In this world, without fists, your words are worthless. To protect his father and this city, he had no choice but to start from the bottom and sharpen his blade bit by bit.
Time is running out before that disaster strikes.
Mo Fan touched the little mudfish pendant that was stuck to his chest. It felt cool against his skin. It had just devoured a multi-million dollar Stardust Magic Artifact, and this little thing hadn't even burped. Its appetite was frightening.
"Ten times the magic energy reserves are a good thing, but also a deadly trap," Mo Fan muttered under his breath.
Simply meditating and cultivating at school? That's far from enough. Sneaking into the Sacred Spring ahead of time? No, at least not with his current strength. To break through to the Nebula stage before the Blood Calamity erupts, he needs vast resources, money, and even more importantly, the "remnant soul" and "essence" that Little Mudfish loves most to strengthen his Star Child.
Where do we get these things? By killing demons.
However, Bo City has tight security. If a high school student with no connections wanders around outside in the middle of the night or goes into the municipal sewers, he will be killed by the Magic Association as a spy for the Black Church before he even smells the stench of demons.
Unless, of course, he has a legitimate identity that allows him free access to the dark corners of Bo City.
Mo Fan's fingers tapped unconsciously on the iron railing, making a crisp "clanging" sound.
hunter.
Only the city's monster-hunting team can openly and legitimately infiltrate the underground pipes of Bo City, using the government's money.
Joining the demon-hunting team would allow him to earn huge bounties to buy resources; he could legally hunt demons to feed the little mudfish's soul; and most importantly—
He could easily figure out the network of tunnels that the giant-eyed rats had dug underground.
In their previous lives, the Black Vatican used these interconnected underground rat burrows to allow their demon army to bypass the security perimeter and break out directly from inside the city.
"I'll seal your entire lives with concrete for the rest of your lives." Mo Fan spat, a fierce, wolfish glint in his eyes. "Trying to crawl out of the sewers? I'll make sure you all suffocate in the dirt."
The plan is set.
I'll try my luck at the Hunter's Alliance Hall after school tomorrow.
