Peninsula Cicada Song Diary

Chapter 10: One drink solved the problem.

After closing the kitchen door, Pei Xiyan took out the ingredients from the bag and placed them on the island counter to prepare them.

Kim Ye-rin pressed her ear against the frosted glass of the door, trying to hear what was happening outside, but she couldn't hear anything except the sound of the television.

"I wonder how unnie and Seungwan will get along." Kang Seulgi looked worried.

"No one has started arguing yet," Kim Ye-rin reported.

"So why the Cold War?" Pei Xiyan asked, rolling up the empty bag and stuffing it into the cabinet above.

He never knew the reason.

"Their conflicts are the result of accumulated little issues, which can't be explained in a short time." Kim Yerin explained, giving an example: "You can think of it as an empty battery. It's fine until it's fully charged, but once it's full, even a little more will cause it to explode. If oppa has accumulated emotions that eventually erupt into arguments, I can understand that."

"Nuna and I don't argue," Pei Xiyan said calmly.

"Never even once?" Kang Seulgi looked at him in disbelief.

"You've known me for almost seven years now." Pei Xiyan returned his gaze. "Have you seen me?"

Kang Seulgi turned her head and exchanged a glance with Kim Yerin, then shook their heads at each other.

"No, we don't." Kim Ye-rin clicked her tongue in surprise. "Are you really normal siblings?"

"Isn't this just normal siblings?" Pei Xiyan said.

"Normal my foot!" Kim Ye-rin straightened up and retorted, "Even boyfriends and girlfriends argue sometimes, let alone siblings who have been together since childhood."

"Even someone as good-natured as Seulgi unnie has argued with us and her brother!"

Although she didn't know why she was being dragged into this, Kang Seulgi nodded.

"It's actually very simple. I read a novel that said women are like the ocean." Pei Xiyan turned on the tap and started filling the sink, as if to echo her own words: "Sometimes she's calm and peaceful, sometimes she's a raging storm..."

"As long as you are good at swimming, check the weather forecast before setting sail, and stay in the cabin when the waves are big, you can get through bad weather perfectly."

"But weather forecasts can't accurately predict the weather at sea," Kim Ye-rin disagreed. "Even the best swimmer can drown by accident, and boats will slowly rot away."

"At least thanks to my carefulness, none of this has happened yet." Pei Xiyan tossed cucumbers and carrots into the pool, splashing tiny droplets of water. "Besides, Nuna's weather forecast is actually quite accurate when she's talking to people she knows."

"Doesn't her joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness all wear on her face?"

Kim Ye-rin and Kang Seul-gi exchanged another glance.

That's true.

"Actually, resolving the Cold War is quite simple." Pei Xiyan turned off the tap after the water level had reached the appropriate point.

"What method?" Kim Ye-rin and Kang Seul-gi perked up.

"Wine." Pei Xiyan made a wine cup shape with her hand, took a sip, and said, "After drinking more, we'll naturally be able to talk things out."

"!!!" *2, their expressions brightened simultaneously.

"Don't get excited yet." Pei Xiyan pressed her hand down. "We'll talk about this tonight."

"The most important thing now is..." He stepped aside from the sink, "You guys haven't forgotten that you came in to help, have you?"

"???" *2

......

The courtyard outside seems endlessly fascinating, as does my phone.

Until the kitchen door opened with a "click," the view of the courtyard that I never tired of looking at suddenly became tiresome, and I also got tired of looking at my phone.

Seeing the two eyes staring intently at her, Kim Ye-rin instinctively stopped in her tracks, a chill running down her spine. She felt like a little white rabbit being watched by a big bad wolf in the forest, with nothing to do but tremble in fear.

But after trembling for a moment, the little rabbit still had to tentatively raise the carrot in its hand with a fawning smile:

"Unnie, how about we eat this first?"

On the table were beautifully plated sushi, stir-fried rice cakes coated in bright red sauce, stir-fried pork belly with an excellent presentation, and a large bowl of kimchi soup.

Pei Xiyan's cooking skills are certified as excellent, and those who have certified them include, but are not limited to, a host of SM idols and GFriend who have eaten his food.

Bae Joo-hyun and Son Seung-wan would be awkward together, but there were five people at the table. With more people, it would naturally be lively, and chopsticks and countless words flew around the table like a chaotic battle.

Pei Xiyan didn't bother with the rule of not talking while eating. She just blurted out whatever corny joke came to mind, like, "In winter, a match got cold while walking and lit itself on fire." "The most important thing school teaches you is to get used to getting up early for work every day." "So-and-so was born without hands; apparently, they forgot to claim their newbie gift pack when registering their account..."

Son Seungwan and Kim Yerin were thoroughly entertained, while Bae Joo-hyun was especially cheerful, her voice cracking with laughter, even making Bae Xiyan's thighs red from slapping. Kang Seul-gi was also laughing, but she seemed to be on a different wavelength from the others, more like she was simply enjoying the meal.

After the meal, the group continued their enthusiastic conversation and excitedly gathered together to play card games.

"...Haha! You lost!"

Bae Joo-hyun shouted excitedly and stuck another note on Kang Seul-gi's face.

"I don't want to play anymore." Kang Seulgi threw the cards back into the deck in frustration, her face covered in slips of paper.

"What?" Bae Joo-hyun's clean face showed surprise. "Isn't it fun?"

"It's obvious that only Unnie thinks it's fun," Kim Ye-rin said, blowing on the note that was hanging down to her mouth.

"Besides, the punishment note for Unnie was stuck on Xiaoyan's face, how can you judge it like that?" Kang Seulgi pointed at Bae Xiyan, whose forehead and cheek were covered with notes.

"It's perfectly reasonable for a younger brother to help Noona, isn't it?" Bae Joo-hyun said dismissively.

"Actually, you could also stick it on Seungwan and Noona's faces," Pei Xiyan suddenly said, resting her chin on her hand. "It's perfectly reasonable for a younger sister to help her older sister."

Son Seungwan, who was watching silently from behind Kang Seulgi, cast a surprised glance at her.

"If you don't want to play, then don't." Pei Zhuxuan gave Pei Xiyan a sharp look without saying a word, then pouted and put away the cards, somewhat disappointed.

I played card games for almost the entire afternoon, and the sun was already beginning to set outside. The dim sunlight cast long shadows from the French windows onto the living room floor.

It was roughly dinnertime again, and they hadn't decided what to have for dinner yet. But after glancing at the sunset outside, Pei Xiyan suddenly had a whimsical idea: "Shall we drink tonight?"

"Sure," Kim Ye-rin's eyes lit up.

"I'm fine," Kang Seulgi said, pulling the slips of paper off her face one by one.

"Why did you suddenly decide to drink?" Bae Joo-hyun looked at Bae Hee-yeon with a puzzled expression, trying to discern something from his face.

"Don't you want to drink, Nuna?" Pei Xiyan calmly threw the question back at him.

"Yeah, unnie must really want to drink it too," Kim Ye-rin chimed in, playing along perfectly.

Bae Joo-hyun frowned and hesitated, "I... fifty-fifty."

"That's one hundred percent." Pei Xiyan took it upon herself to agree, then looked behind Jiang Seulgi, "What about Seungwan noona?"

"I..." Son Seungwan tossed her hair, glancing discreetly at Bae Joo-hyun before saying:

"Either is fine."
