Upon hearing the old Chinese medicine doctor's arrangement, Wang Cheng became even more diligent in learning medical skills from him. Every day, he discussed medical theories with his master and observed his methods of treating patients.

Wang Cheng observed and participated in the entire process, from acupuncture and massage to prescription of medicine, as well as inquiring about pathology and pondering the symptoms.

If he had any questions, he would immediately consult an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor, referring to the Shennong Materia Medica and the Treatise on Febrile Diseases.

Wang Cheng has finished reading these two famous medical books. The Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica describes 365 kinds of herbs, specifying whether they are poisonous or not, and their specific uses.

I memorized everything, including the four natures, five flavors, the roles of principal, assistant, adjuvant, and guide herbs, the harmony of the seven emotions, and the main symptoms these herbs treat.

For example, some drugs are highly toxic, which most people are unaware of. Some drugs can be used as treatments, but they are highly toxic. If they are used together, the toxicity is extremely strong.

Croton: a potent purgative, used for acute cold-induced stagnation (highly toxic); Pinellia: dries dampness, resolves phlegm, eliminates lumps and nodules (toxic); Euphorbia kansui: drains water and eliminates phlegm, reduces swelling and eliminates nodules (highly toxic); Euphorbia pekinensis: promotes urination and reduces swelling, attacks toxins and breaks up accumulations (highly toxic); Daphne genkwa: drains water and eliminates phlegm, detoxifies and kills parasites (highly toxic).

If these drugs are mixed together, even a tiny amount can be fatal.

Even just a small amount of croton, which has the least toxicity, can cause acute diarrhea.

If you eat too much, you might have diarrhea for three days and three nights, and in severe cases, it could even be life-threatening.

This is already the least toxic of these drugs.

There were also some medicines that were quite effective, and the old Chinese medicine doctor came to test Wang Cheng with his medical books.

The traditional Chinese medicine doctor asked, "What are the uses of dried ginger?"

"Dried ginger: warms the middle jiao (spleen and stomach), dispels cold, restores yang, and unblocks the meridians."

They then asked about the effects of other medications.

Wang Cheng answered each question carefully.

Ginseng: Nourishes the five internal organs, calms the mind, and strengthens vital energy; Rehmannia: Nourishes yin and blood, and promotes tendon and bone healing; Angelica: Harmonizes blood and relieves pain, a holy medicine for women; Donkey-hide gelatin: Stops bleeding and nourishes blood, and repairs internal injuries; Astragalus: Promotes tissue regeneration and heals wounds.

Chrysanthemum: Clears the liver and improves eyesight, detoxifies and refreshes the mind.

Kudzu root: relieves muscle tension and reduces fever, promotes the production of body fluids and quenches thirst.

Magnolia officinalis: It dries dampness, eliminates phlegm, lowers qi, and relieves fullness

Wang Cheng also learned many prescriptions from the Compendium of Materia Medica, such as the Single Ginseng Decoction, which uses only one old ginseng root.

It can stop the bleeding, replenish qi, and keep the patient alive until the very last breath.

After Qiao Feng injured A Zi, he used a huge amount of wild ginseng to keep her alive, and then used his powerful internal energy to help her repair her meridians.

If it weren't for the many old ginseng roots that saved her life, Azi would have died long ago.

The Compendium of Materia Medica contains a recipe, made from a single ingredient: century-old wild ginseng.

Indications: Complete loss of internal strength, persistent vomiting of blood, collapse and fainting.

It melts in your mouth, its medicinal power directly replenishes the vital energy in your lower abdomen, stops bleeding and calms the mind. For those who are seriously injured, it can temporarily keep their heart pulse intact.

Wang Cheng eats an old ginseng root every day, and his bones are already extremely strong.

His blood contained the medicinal power of ginseng, which further enhanced his martial arts skills.

These medical techniques are all based on traditional Chinese medicine.

Wang Cheng not only studied these prescription books, but he also studied many acupuncture books, such as the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic and the Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.

It clarifies the location of various acupoints and the effects and harms that acupuncture can cause.

This is a must-learn book for him on acupressure, such as the Nine Needles for Resuscitation (the first needle for reviving someone on the verge of death).

Indications:

Internal organs shattered, near death, pulse gone, cold poison attacking the heart, unconscious.

The order of the nine acupoints:

Yamen, Laogong, Sanyinjiao, Yongquan, Taixi, Zhongwan, Huantiao, Zusanli, Hegu.

Acupuncture to awaken consciousness (for coma, drugging, and demonic possession).

Indications:

Poisoning and coma, being suffocated by acupressure, going into a state of demonic possession, fainting from fright, feigning death

Main acupoints:

Renzhong (GV26), Baihui (GV20), Neiguan (PC6), Shixuan (EX-UE11), Yongquan (KI1).

From these acupoints, Wang Cheng learned which ones were for laughing, which ones were for dying, which ones were for sleeping, and which ones were for making one mute.

After testing Wang Cheng's knowledge, the old Chinese medicine doctor exclaimed that Wang Cheng had completely mastered the knowledge of pharmacology.

The next step is the practical process, gaining experience in treating patients.

The old Chinese medicine doctor handed a woman with irregular menstruation to Wang Cheng for examination. Wang Cheng found that the woman was dizzy and weak, had a sallow complexion, and cold hands and feet.

Wang Cheng asked the woman and learned that he hadn't had his period for several months.

Since he had no symptoms of pregnancy, Wang Cheng prescribed him medication.

Angelica sinensis: the primary medicine for nourishing and invigorating blood and regulating menstruation; Rehmannia glutinosa: nourishing yin and blood, replenishing essence and marrow; Paeonia lactiflora: nourishing blood and astringing yin, relieving spasms and pain; Colla corii asini: nourishing blood and stopping bleeding, nourishing yin and moistening dryness; Lycium barbarum: tonifying the liver and kidneys, nourishing blood and regulating menstruation.

The old Chinese medicine doctor praised Wang Cheng for his excellent prescription. Wang Cheng then decocted the medicine into a herbal soup and gave it to the girl to drink. Not long after the girl returned home, she ran to the pharmacy to tell Wang Cheng.

She recovered.

They also received a few taels of silver as a token of their gratitude to Wang Cheng.

At first, Wang Cheng would only see one or two people a day, but later he would see seven or eight people a day.

Later, he saw more than a dozen people a day. After half a year, Wang Cheng had treated more than 1000 patients at the old Chinese medicine clinic.

Wang Cheng recorded the diseases and symptoms of these people, as well as the medications used and the treatment effects, in his notebook.

He has already written a thin medical manual, but only he reads it.

It is his medical achievement. Wang Cheng's current medical level can cure almost any disease except for a very few that are extremely difficult to cure.

Wang Cheng can cure even the most common and more difficult cases.

There were only eight people who couldn't be cured, but the prescriptions Wang Cheng gave had a certain therapeutic effect on their illnesses.

Wang Cheng's current medical skills are almost on par with those of the old Chinese medicine doctor who taught him.

The only difference is the number of patients to see and the skill level required for each patient.

This is much earlier than the two years the old Chinese medicine doctor had expected. Wang Cheng can basically say that he has already graduated.

If Granny Sun, the Little Dragon Girl, had any illness, Wang Cheng could prescribe medicine and cure her.

Whenever Xiaolongnu had any pain, she would ask Wang Cheng to take a look, and Wang Cheng always managed to cure her ailment.

Wang Cheng is almost 10 years old now, and he has become a famous little doctor. People near Zhongnan Mountain can go there for any headaches or fevers.

People started coming to him for medical treatment. Although he was very young, his build and appearance did not resemble that of a child, as long as he did not tell others his real age.

Everyone thought he was already fifteen or sixteen years old. Wang had grown up to be not only handsome, but also very mature.

Once, while practicing martial arts, Xiaolongnu twisted her ankle, and Wang Cheng prescribed medicine for her.

Angelica sinensis 2 qian, Ligusticum chuanxiong 1 qian, Prunus persica 1 qian, Carthamus tinctorius 5 fen, Paeonia lactiflora 1 qian, Achyranthes bidentata 2 qian, Dipsacus asper 2 qian, Glycyrrhiza uralensis 5 fen.

They then decocted the medicine into a soup and had Xiaolongnu drink it.

He also gave Xiaolongnu a foot massage. Xiaolongnu's feet were very beautiful, round and smooth. Wang Cheng prescribed medicine for her and massaged them.

However, after only three days, Xiaolongnu's injuries were healed.
