Interspecies Training Manual

Chapter 5: When faced with a crisis, all that matters is resolving it.

"It seems we're being followed."

Luo An realized the seriousness of the problem.

If they hadn't been being followed, these goblins wouldn't have appeared so quickly.

"Master, I'm sorry, it was all my oversight."

Celia's magic was sealed, preventing her from using it to sense danger.

Relying solely on visual inspection can lead to oversights if the other party deliberately avoids looking.

Celia felt guilty for putting her master in danger despite being a slave.

"Don't think about that. This isn't just your problem. I didn't sense any danger either."

Luo An didn't blame her; instead, he comforted her, saying, "When you encounter a crisis, you just have to solve it, right?"

"Gurgle, gurgle."

The goblin shaman approached the two, speaking in a language that Roan couldn't understand.

But Celia could understand.

"Master, it says we took something we shouldn't have and it wants to kill us."

Celia provided a simple translation for Roan.

"But didn't we already return the items?"

Luo An frowned, looking at the horn and finger bones.

Celia shook her head and made a nocking motion.

"Goblin shamans are not very intelligent; they rely more on instinct to do things."

"They are superstitious about killing and plundering; might makes right. You can't communicate with them using language."

As soon as she finished speaking, the goblin shaman slammed his bone staff into the ground.

The previously quiet goblins suddenly erupted into a frenzy, charging towards the two of them like madmen.

shhhhhh!

Celia reacted quickly, her arrow piercing the foreheads of the three goblins at the front.

She didn't stop; arrows kept flying out.

But there are too many.

Unlike yesterday, the goblins were not separated by a great distance and were charging in in an encircling formation. One by one, the goblins fell, and the remaining goblins stepped over the corpses of their companions and were already within arm's reach.

Seeing that the situation was not right, Luo An channeled his magic and a fireball gathered in his palm.

He spotted the nearest goblin and hurled it at it.

boom!

The fireball exploded in front of the goblin's chest, and several nearby goblins were engulfed by the flames, letting out miserable screams.

"Celia, I'm entrusting my responsibilities to you after this."

Roan and Celia stood back to back, fighting off the attacking goblins.

The howls of goblins, the whistling of arrows, and the explosions of fireballs mingled together.

When the last goblin fell, Roan's magic power was almost exhausted, and Celia's quiver was also empty of arrows.

Before she could even catch her breath, the goblin shaman who had been watching from afar made his move.

It was incredibly fast, its eyes fixed on Roan, clearly aware that the magic cast by this human was the most troublesome danger.

The bone staff hurtled towards them with a whoosh, moving so fast that Luo An had no time to react.

He only saw a blue figure growing larger in his eyes, but he didn't have time to dodge.

boom!

A dull thud resounded.

Before Roan stood Celia.

She took the blow from the goblin shaman with her own back.

Celia coughed up a mouthful of blood, which splattered onto Roan's clothes.

The force from behind sent her crashing into Luo An's arms, but she held him tightly, protecting him in this way.

"Seria!"

Luo An looked at the spot on her back where she had been hit; her clothes were torn, and bright red blood was seeping from under her skin.

He gently placed Celia behind him and looked at the goblin shaman in front of him.

Despite the excessive depletion of his magic power, the temperature of Luo An's palms continued to rise.

A huge fireball hurtled toward the goblin shaman.

The goblin shaman used his bone staff to block the fireball, but it still exploded. Unable to dodge in time, it was hit by the wave of fire, and its animal hide was instantly burned to ashes, its skin scorched black.

It instinctively considered retreating.

Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed again from the depths of the forest.

A horde of goblins emerged from the woods, in greater numbers than before.

The leading goblin also had blue skin and was holding a bone staff.

Another goblin shaman!

"Gala Gulu~"

"Gala Gulu~"

The two goblin shamans had a brief exchange.

Celia could understand what was being said.

"The goblin shaman successfully retrieved the item; ask it again if it succeeded."

"The injured goblin shaman said it didn't work, but he found the person who stole the items and asked him to help dispose of them."

Luo An was startled by the words of the two shamans.

It appears that these goblins attacked more than one farm.

But he doesn't have time to think about these things right now.

The once open plain is now surrounded by a dense swarm of goblins.

Despite the excruciating pain, Celia staggered to her feet and stood in front of Roan.

She knew very well that the two of them had no way out now.

If his magic hadn't been sealed, he wouldn't have been in such a sorry state facing these goblins.

Unfortunately...

The only thing Celia can do right now is to use her own life to hold off these monsters and buy her master a chance to escape.

"Master, I'll rush over and attract their attention."

"Take this opportunity to use...fireball to smash...a path, and once...you get back to the farm...you'll be safe."

Celia's voice was broken and halting, and she seemed to be struggling to speak.

I won't leave you.

Luo An remained calm as he frantically absorbed the magical elements in the air during this brief period.

At this moment, I would be happy to recover even a little more magic power.

"Master, why?"

She was just a slave; why would her master do this for her?

It is not a matter of course for slaves to die for their masters.

Celia couldn't understand it and was completely stunned.

"You protected me before, isn't it only right that I protect you now?"

Luo An smiled at Celia, and an even hotter flame began to gather in his hand.

"Gala Gulu~"

The goblin shaman sensed the danger and quickly moved forward, gripping his bone staff.

Luo An was prepared to take the impact, but Celia panicked and stood in front of him, using her body as a shield once again, her delicate abdomen taking the brunt of the blow.

She was thrown out and crashed onto the ground, falling into a coma.

"Damn goblins!"

Luo An was furious.

Celia's actions just now made him realize that slaves are willing to die at any time for the safety of their masters.

This is the effect of the slave contract, and Roan cannot change it.

An individual's will cannot resist the power of a contract.

Luo An could only be nice to Celia to the best of his ability.

Flames surged, and the magic power within his body was almost gone.

His face turned pale, and he began to exhaust himself.

The surrounding air was baked and distorted, and scorching waves of air surged, and a fireball several times larger than before quickly took shape.

"Gara-guru!"

The goblin shaman panicked and commanded the goblin horde to charge forward madly, trying to use their bodies to block the flames.

But it was too late.

boom!!!

The fireball exploded, flames engulfing the entire open space and completely swallowing the green figure.

The heavily wounded goblin shaman on the outer perimeter had just turned to flee when it was quickly engulfed by flames.

The other goblin shaman used his bone staff to defend himself for a moment, but was also melted by the scorching flames.

When the flames died down, only a scorched earth remained in the clearing; the goblins had not even left behind their bones.

The power of the Great Fireball Technique is terrifying!

Is this the power of B-rank magic?

Luo An exhausted all his magic power, and was still far from reaching half the power of a B-rank spell.

I can't even imagine how amazing a fully-fledged B-rank magic would be if the magic power were abundant enough.

Suddenly, Luo An's vision went black, his body went limp, and he almost fell to the ground.

But he knew he couldn't give up now.

Does anyone know if any other goblin shamans are on their way?

He persevered with a powerful will.

Luo An turned around and walked step by step to Celia.

The girl fell into a deep coma, with blood still flowing from her abdomen and back.

Luo An took some herbs from his basket and applied them to the wound for simple treatment.

He used all his strength to lift Celia's delicate body up.

The girl's body was very soft and light.

Roan slung his basket over his shoulder, carried Celia, and headed back towards the farm.
