Dark Eldar

168. Ludar's email

We wholeheartedly recommend this book to you: *The Dark Eldar*. You can read it here.

Everything has a beginning and an end. —An ancient proverb

In the town of Gludin, the weather was sunny. The Barbarian King (Rare Elite, Level 48) sat alone in the square, enjoying the tranquility of the afternoon.

Lately, the Barbarian King's mindset has become more peaceful. Ludal of Kent sent an email to the Barbarian King.

"The First Warrior, Barbarian King: "

Hello! This is Ludar. How are you doing? You don't need to reply to this letter. Just read it. We have already captured Kent. This city is about the same size as a district of our Void Fortress, perhaps even larger. Lord Dark has ordered you to continue guarding Gludin City. That is our old stronghold. Remember! Do not be careless! Do not slacken. I know you don't have many capable generals left. However, I still need to give you this order. I don't want to see you killed by Dark. Consider it a favor I owed you last time! Be a good lord of Gludin City. You have been appointed! I will not issue an official appointment announcement. Doing so would cause some in the Kent forces to resent you. You are considered to have tacitly become the city lord! Please be sure to fulfill your duties! —Signed: Former Rebel Leader Ludar!

Ludal retained his old title because of nostalgia, and also because this was a "private letter." Ludal's wording was meticulous, almost impeccable. It conveyed the necessary orders while also reminiscing with the barbarian king—a common "military strategy" for Ludal to win over loyal subordinates. (Ludal's initial attribute: Strategy)

The barbarian king sat alone in the square, reading the letter for a long time. Finally, he simply crumpled it into a ball, stuffed it into his mouth, and ate it. (Barbarians are inherently reckless; they even believe their stomach acid can melt all metal! The elite barbarian king found burning it to "destroy" it too troublesome, so he preferred to chew it up and eat it—it was much more "refreshing"...)

The barbarian king turned his head and looked around at the simple village (residential area). Most of the people walking and working were half-humans and disabled orcs. The rest were basically the old, weak, sick, and disabled, ordinary people below level 20. They had no fighting ability whatsoever.

"The letter says I'm in charge of managing this village? But it's all villagers. When we attacked Gludin, all the able-bodied men were taken away... What am I going to do..." The barbarian king frowned, head bowed, deep in thought.

In the village, some of the older half-humans were no longer so afraid of their "new city lord." They all smiled and brought out fresh "fruit platters" for the barbarian king to eat.

"My Lord Barbarian King, you're sunbathing again!" greeted the half-human "Ququha" (level 13, no class).

"Hmm! Nothing much to do, let's soak up some sun, come on over!" The Barbarian King was in a pretty good mood overall today. He started eating fresh watermelon with gusto. (Fruit Platter: Beginner Recipe, consisting of any 3 or more seasonal fruits; the watermelon in the platter is the juiciest and most refreshing.)

"Sir, if there's nothing else, we're going to water the fields in the East District (the public rental land)." Ququha and the others only dared to offer the barbarian king some fruit and drinks as a token of their goodwill, not daring to linger. "They're still shaken." (Ququha had previously been persecuted by the old city lord, Hawke, when he was still a stubborn half-human slave... Those were painful memories...)

"Go! Go! Go do what you need to do!" The Barbarian King waved his hand. Having gone through so much, the Barbarian King had long since come to terms with it. He didn't care much about the half-humans or the hardworking, kind villagers; he only cared about himself. "But right now, Luddar's letter has clearly hinted that I'm still in danger. I can't leave Gludin. And they're not coming back to reinforce us. Am I just going to sit here and wait to die?" A new problem confronted the Barbarian King. Perhaps this was one of his important tasks after his awakening?

That noon, the Barbarian King left Gludin City. The thin, level 11 half-human guarding the city gate, seeing the city lord about to leave, proactively asked if he needed protection.

The barbarian king politely declined.

The rare barbarian king wants to go to Kent City to talk to "Dark" in person.

The "Rhino Mount" (blue, speed 60) was captured by the Barbarian King on the battlefield. While its appearance isn't as flashy as the heroes' mounts, the rhino's large size makes it a good fit for the equally massive Barbarian King. (The Barbarian King has a crippled leg, making long journeys tiring for him.)

They hadn't gone far when the barbarian king changed his mind. When he thought of Dark's "ugly face" and Ludal's "pretentiousness," he dared not go any further. Left with no other choice, he had to retreat.

The rhino mount is "docile" and doesn't speak; it goes wherever the Barbarian King tells it to. The rhino mount is considered a mid-tier blue rare pet. It can only be found in the "Molofigor" map. Other similar rhino mounts are all replaced by the "Aged Kodo" (blue, speed 60). Compared to the Kodo, the unique rhino horn is very powerful. In terms of price, one mid-tier rhino mount can be exchanged for five Kodo mounts of the same level.

"Return to the city?" The barbarian king rode his rhinoceros, gazing at Gludin Castle from afar. At that moment, his greatest desire was to do what Ludar had described in his letter: "To act as regent and govern Gludin Castle well. To restore it to its former glory..."

"Even if it's just a third restored, that would be good enough!" The Barbarian King decided! He wouldn't go back yet. He didn't want the low-ranking guards at the gate to see his "awkward" coming and going. He had to find more clues, or achieve something significant, before he dared to openly "return to the city."

The steward, "Ludar," was busy with official business in Kent. He knew he might be putting pressure on the barbarian king, and he was "bitter in silence." "Although Dark hasn't made any arrangements, I must handle Gludin properly. The barbarian king and I are both of the barbarian 'origin'! I need to warn my comrades to be careful. If we are careless and lose Gludin, the barbarian king will surely die..."

Yet everything in this world revolves between "hypothesis" and "inevitability." No one knows what their future holds, not even the great heroes of this "other world." —Nameless Discipline of Another World 333215151216811 (Uploaded by: Vera Hinmez; Female, Warlock, Level 173)
