Chapter 8 A fight to the death in the stomach pit

Three whole days passed in this way.

King Philip paced back and forth before the throne in the Blood Palace, his mind agitated.

At this moment, a scout returned to report.

"How is it... have the troops withdrawn?" he asked anxiously.

Seeing the scout shake his head helplessly, Philip was so angry he almost ground his steel teeth to powder.

"Where did these wild centaurs come from...are they deliberately trying to starve this great king to death?"

Suddenly, a commotion arose behind them. Two ogres were fighting fiercely over a piece of jerky. Their massive bodies crashed into the bone wall, causing half the palace to shake.

"You two idiots, stop right now!"

A loud shout barely managed to separate the two hungry ghosts, but their eyes remained glued to the jerky, as if afraid the other would snatch it away if they weren't careful.

Looking at his cannibalistic subordinates, who were itching to pounce on their hunger, King Philip thought to himself: If this continues, my rule will be in serious jeopardy... I must find a way to get rid of those four-legged bastards at the gate!

Boom, boom, boom!

Philip slammed his scepter into the ground, summoning all the ogres in the Blood Palace.

"I know everyone is very hungry, but right now the enemy is blocking the gate, and we can't get out at all... Only by killing all the enemies outside the gate can we win a way out for ourselves!"

I ask you, do you want to hide here and devour each other's flesh, ultimately starving to death in misery; or do you want to come with me and fight our way out, to fight those people outside with honor and show them the power of cannibals!

"Fight your way out! Fight your way out!"

The ogres' emotions were instantly ignited by Philip, and they howled as they charged toward the door...

Seeing Philip come out in person, Attila then ordered his men to stop firing arrows.

A thought struck Philip, and he immediately shouted, "Which tribe are you from? We have no enmity with you, so why are you besieging the Blood Palace Cave?"

The men and horses parted to the left and right, making way for each other.

Luke, Rogge, Armin, and others emerged from the rear and strode confidently to the front of the formation.

Philip suddenly realized what was happening and flew into a rage: "You're Luke? How dare you besiege my Blood Palace? You're courting death!"

Luke smiled but did not answer, but then heard Armin curse: "Philip, you coward who can't even protect your own people, how dare you shout here!"

Today, I'm going to challenge you to a "stomach pit" challenge and see who is worthy of being the master of the Blood Palace.

"If you win, we'll let you out of the cave... How about it, do you dare to accept the challenge?"

Philip looked at Luke and saw him nod in agreement.

However, Amin continued, "If you don't dare... you'd better slink back into your cave and not make a fool of yourself here!"

"Stomach pit" duels are an old tradition of ogres, a brutal and direct "one-on-one" deathmatch fought for tribal dominance.

There is only one core rule: the winner takes all, the loser is food.

Duels are usually held openly in the tribe's "stomach pit," and there are only two possible outcomes:

If the challenger wins, they defeat the current monarch, sacrifice the opponent as "fresh meat" to the Great Eating God, and become the new leader; if the original monarch wins, they kill and eat the challenger and continue to rule.

Luke nodded to himself after hearing this: I see.

Amin wanted to exploit the cannibals' competitive and admiring nature to shift the conflict from an adversarial one to a power struggle between him and Philip.

This strategy of dividing the enemy and keeping other ogres out of the fray... is indeed a brilliant move!

But is he really that confident that he can defeat Philip?

Sure enough, the cannibals behind Philip began to whisper among themselves—both morally and logically, Armin's challenge was perfectly legitimate and could not be refused.

Seeing the hopeful looks in his people's eyes, Fili could only roar, "Fine! Since you're so eager to become my meal, then so be it! Guards... open the stomach pit!"

Luke and the others followed a group of ogres to an open area outside the cave entrance.

The sixteen torches on the perimeter were lit one by one. The ogre lifted a dusty old cloth, revealing a huge pit three or four meters deep, filled with spikes of various sizes carved from rough wood.

This is the "stomach pit" where the God of Stomach is worshipped.

King Philip removed his crown and cloak, took his scepter, and jumped into the stomach pit without hesitation, drawing cheers and applause from the surrounding cannibals.

Amin also dropped his cynical smile, took a deep breath, and followed suit into the pit.

He took a pair of huge steel hooks off his shoulders—the ones originally used to hoist the High Elf tax collectors, which had been left in the village forever… These two were specially made by a blacksmith for him.

The scepter, accompanied by a gust of wind, attacked Amin with an intense sense of oppression.

With a muffled thud, five cracks appeared on the ground and spread outwards... Where Amin had been standing, there was no one in sight.

"You haven't shown your true strength yet, have you?"

"What?"

Philip turned around, surprised.

"Unleash your full power!" Armin spread his arms wide. "When facing an enemy, never think they are inferior to you... because arrogance is your path to death!"

"Interesting!" After a long pause, King Philip burst into wild laughter. "Then I'll grant your wish..."

He swayed his obese body, which swelled to more than twice its original size. Instead of being covered in fat, he transformed into a muscular, powerful giant.

The scepter struck again, this time with power several times greater than before!

Despite his large size, Philip was agile and nimble, and his attacks were always powerful, making it difficult for Amin to dodge.

Another attack followed, the tip of the scepter grazing Amin's cheek, leaving a faint bloodstain.

Amin seized the opportunity, his steel hook coiling around the scepter like a snake spitting its tongue, pulling Philip involuntarily close and delivering a hard punch to his face.

The punch landed with tremendous force, forcing Philip to take two steps back, his nose nearly smashed.

"Is that all you've got?" Amin sneered as he sheathed his weapon.

"You're really troublesome..." Philip wiped the blood from his nose, his anger rising.

All the ogres in the Blood Palace were watching from above, and he would not allow his dignity to be damaged in the slightest.

The scepter swept wildly with the wind, and Amin ducked to dodge. A wooden splinter as thick as a bowl behind him was snapped in half, sending wood chips flying. At the same time, the steel hook struck the scepter in Philip's hand and knocked it out of his grasp.

However, before Amin could even feel happy, his large body was suddenly kicked down by Philip's thick, fleshy foot.

That was quite a fall; the entire ground trembled as a result.

Amin struggled to get up, but his shoulder was firmly pressed down by Philip's left foot, preventing him from standing.

With victory in sight, Philip was smug and grinned maliciously, "What else do you have to say when you're about to die?"

"I just want to say your massage technique is terrible... why don't you turn me over and give me a back massage?" Ah Ming below continued to be sarcastic.

"This is a tough nut to crack. I hope it won't get stuck in your teeth when you chew it."

Philip stopped talking and slapped a large hand down on the man's head, ready to finish off this annoying guy...
