Chapter 7 Nobody knows cannibals better than me
"On the flat plains, only Mount Ono rises abruptly and stands tall; and the ogres living here, because they are not centaurs, are an anomaly in the entire Hun River basin."
"About five or six hundred ogres live on Mount Ono. Under the leadership of their chief, King Phil, they carved out a blood palace from the mountain's interior, becoming the sole rulers of the peak..."
"King Philip has an eccentric personality. Remember not to say too much lest you anger him... Not only will the business deal fall through, but our lives could also be in danger!"
Walking through the long, dimly lit underground tunnel, Bill was quietly introducing the owner of this place to Roger.
Roger shuddered upon hearing this and nodded repeatedly.
The tunnel was filled with the stench of decay, blood, and the distinctive body odor of ogres... After walking for an unknown amount of time, we finally reached the end of the passage, where two ogres were guarding it.
Upon seeing Bill, the ogre guard couldn't help but tease, "Little wild horse, why are you being so polite today... you even brought some snacks?"
Bill gave an awkward laugh: "Brother, you're too kind. Ahem, it was Lord Luke from the Reach who sent us to discuss iron ore business and request an audience with King Philip."
"Come with me."
Upon opening the stone door, their view suddenly opened up.
"This...this is a palace built by ogres?" Rogge stammered.
The ceiling is made of mammoth ribs, and the walls are made of the white bones of various animals, painted with blood-red pigment... The whole palace looks both terrifying and solemn.
Along the way, Rogge looked around and couldn't help but marvel at the violent aesthetics of the "Bloody Palace" built by the ogres, until he arrived at the throne in the center of the palace.
A mountain-like ogre sat high on top, wearing a crown of thorns, a scarlet cloak, and holding a skull scepter... This must be King Philip the Great.
"Even among ogres, this guy is considered tall and strong... almost on par with Mr. Armin."
Roger thought to himself.
Bill stepped forward, about to speak, but was interrupted by King Philip.
"I heard you've become a hunting dog for humans now, you really have guts..."
Bill was taken aback by this, and stammered, "Lord Luke respects me very much, not as Your Majesty thinks..."
"Hmph, Luke... is that the guy who led humans to the Reach and wiped out the centaur tribe? I really want to meet him and see what he's capable of."
Seeing his companion turn red from the choking of the ogre, Roger mustered his courage and replied, "What's so difficult about that? Our leader also admires the King, which is why he sent us here to discuss iron ore business and to seek long-term cooperation with you."
As for the price, it will remain the same as what the people from the River Bend tribe gave us—six thick furs for one pound of pig iron… Of course, if you're not satisfied, we can discuss it further. What do you think?
"Hehe, I don't think it's very good."
King Felin stood up and staggered down from his throne, the entire palace seemingly trembling with him.
"Since you're new friends, I can give you a 50% discount. From now on, a pound of pig iron will only cost three thick sheets..."
Is this really true?
Roger could hardly believe his ears and asked with a look of surprise, completely unaware of Bill's gloomy face and the gesturing look in his eyes.
King Philip didn't respond, but continued, "I heard Luke is raising quite a few ogres. Is he planning to feed them with his own flesh and blood?"
"What...did you say?"
Before he could react, the tip of the enormous scepter had already pierced through him.
Bill was too late to stop him and pierced Roger's shoulder... The immense pain forced Roger to kneel on the ground, barely able to speak.
At that moment, countless enormous shadows appeared all around... Ogres emerged from the demon cave and surrounded them in the center.
"Your Majesty, spare me!" Bill snapped out of his brief shock and quickly stepped forward to beg for mercy.
"You livestock raised by the high elves, what right do you have to speak to me like that!"
King Philip's chest heaved violently with anger as he spoke with utter contempt: "A bunch of lowly humans, who just barged into the Reach for no reason and killed my business partners for no reason, seem to really think they are free people born equal."
Now, they actually come here to talk to me about cooperation... They're seriously underestimating me! What do they take me for?
The ogre's roar echoed throughout the palace, the light flickering. Bill and Roger were ashen-faced, but they managed to remain calm.
After a long pause, King Philip, still furious, continued, "Listen, I'll spare your lives to give Luke a message—from now on, he must pay me one hundred pelts every month as payment for not eating his thighs."
As for the iron ore in the mountains, I will sell it to other centaur tribes, so he doesn't need to worry about it.
The surrounding ogres laughed wildly and cheered the name "King Philly".
Bill, feeling like he'd been granted a pardon, quickly stopped Rogge's bleeding and led him in a disheveled escape from the Blood Palace, leaving Ono Peak...
In the wooden fortress of the Reach, the first "Long Table Conference" was held. On the left were humans such as Hagen and Victor, while on the right sat the ogre Armin and the centaur Attila.
Looking at the injured Roger and Bill shaking his head and sighing beside him, Luke, sitting in the main seat, looked increasingly grim.
"If the soft approach doesn't work, we'll try the hard one!"
Attila broke the silence first: "When I was on the steppes, all I knew was plunder, not trade!"
Luke shook his head: "Don't be impulsive. The Blood Palace is located inside the mountain, easy to defend and difficult to attack... We don't know how many troops we'll have to lose to take it down."
While expressing concern for his son's injuries, Hagen pondered, "I don't think it's necessary to do business with Philip. We can get iron ore from other sources, though the price will be higher..."
"What about those hundred pelts? Are we going to give them to him too?" Victor, unable to contain his anger, shouted at the top of his lungs, "Philip, with his high vantage point on Ono Peak, can point his sword at the Reach at any time; he's always a threat to us!"
The group was arguing heatedly when a burst of laughter came from the side.
Looking in the direction of the sound, it was Ah Ming... He was laughing so hard that tears were about to stream down his face.
Parker, who was closest to him, couldn't help but ask curiously, "Armin... what's so funny?"
Amin rubbed his eyes with his rough, large hands, and said breathlessly, "I laugh at you, you have no idea what cannibals are..."
After he caught his breath, he began to explain: "Ogres are the race that worships power the most on the entire continent... They can tolerate their monarch being a tyrant, but they can never tolerate him being a coward!"
If Philip doesn't take a tough stance against us, he'll soon be torn to shreds by the ogres below...
"If you just listen to me, I guarantee we can take down Onomine without shedding a drop of blood and take over the Blood Palace!"
------
As the first rays of morning sunlight shone on the isolated, wild peak, seven or eight ogres yawned and emerged from their caves at the foot of the mountain, heading out to hunt as usual.
However, the scene before them completely woke them up, and all their drowsiness vanished.
Dust billowed in front of the mountain, and the only entrance to the "Blood Palace" tunnel was completely surrounded by over a thousand centaurs on high alert.

Attila's centaurs, each wielding a bow and arrow, exuded murderous intent, their cold eyes fixed on their every move.
The ogres were stunned. After a few rustling sounds, one of them boldly took a tentative step forward.
Whoosh...whoosh!
The next second, countless arrows flew from the bowstring, and the ogre was instantly riddled with arrows, falling straight to the ground.
Seeing this, the other ogres retreated, roaring and pounding their chests in anger at Attila, before scurrying back into their cave to report to King Philip…
Attila didn't pursue them, but calmly guarded the cave entrance, surrounding it without attacking.
At this moment, Luke and Armin arrived at the front of the battle.
After bowing, Attila said happily, "If we just keep him trapped for a few days, the ogres on the mountain will probably start fighting amongst themselves."
Luke and Armin exchanged a smile, then Luke said confidently:
"Don't worry. Philip will never be a coward... I believe he will appear before us soon."
