Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?

Chapter 10 Snape Gets Special Treatment, Trolls Attack

When Harry returned, he became the first young wizard in nearly a century to be selected for Quidditch in his first year at Hogwarts, and the news spread quickly.

Harry happily went to share the news with Kevin, Ron, and Hermione, and they were all very happy for Harry.

We plan to go to Hagrid's cabin together, share the news with him, and have a small get-together there.

However, things didn't go as planned, just as they had finished discussing and were about to set off.

"Mr. Kevin, I think you won't have any leisurely time for parties. Now, come to my office right away."

Professor Snape appeared out of nowhere, suddenly appearing behind the four of them, startling them.

Before the others could react, Snape dragged Kevin away.

"Hey! Wait, wait, wait..." Kevin was confused. What was the old bat up to now?

Harry and the others looked at each other, wondering what Kevin had done to offend Snape this time, so they went to Hagrid's hut to visit him on their own.

Kevin was led all the way to Professor Snape's office.

The old bat didn't say a word, and simply tossed Kevin a list of herbs.

"Prepare all the materials here according to the list above."

"If you can't finish this before dinner, then you don't need to eat dinner tonight."

After saying that, Snape left the office without waiting for Kevin's reaction.

Kevin was left completely bewildered. Was the old bat coming to take revenge on him?

He stood there stunned for a while, looking at the pile of herbal materials all over the office, and felt a headache coming on.

He looked at the list and then at the materials scattered all over the floor.

I'm not sure, I'll think about it some more.

"It says on it, mermaid scale powder... powder..."

Kevin looked for a long time but didn't see any powdery substance, only a few packets of mermaid scales.

I don't expect to have to process and sort them myself, do I?

Kevin looked miserable; he figured he'd probably miss dinner again tonight.

Looking at the list again, I found that grinding into powder was considered simple; the most outrageous part was that some items required him to mix and blend them directly into semi-finished products.

The old bat is truly incredibly kind to me...

Although he was working for free, these jobs helped Kevin quickly accumulate knowledge and skills in various potions.

Grinding, slicing, juicing, and sorting are all basic skills for potion masters.

Moreover, the list clearly states the function of each ingredient and the steps for mixing and preparing the semi-finished product.

Snape seems to have truly accepted him, assigning him such a challenging task to learn right away.

If he can complete this job well, Kevin's potion-making skills will also be upgraded from novice to expert.

He really made me cry my eyes out.

Crying to death in various senses.

Kevin shook his head, stopped thinking about it, bent down and picked out the first item from a pile of herbal materials, and began to work methodically.

As he researched, processed, and categorized the materials one by one, he seemed to gradually find enjoyment in it.

He was like a sponge, frantically absorbing knowledge and opportunities for practice.

His top-notch potion-making talent, coupled with an intelligence of 20, allows him to immerse himself in the ocean of knowledge with endless joy.

Snape, who was observing from the shadows, nodded in satisfaction.

But his expression immediately turned strange, because Kevin seemed... a little... too unrestrained?

"Oh~ Isn't this a beautiful unicorn horn? Oh my god~ Let me see it~"

"Oh right, that's right~ Bewitching herb, one sniff and you're intoxicated, two sniffs and fatigue is gone, three sniffs and even Death himself will be shouting 'Great, great, great!'"

"Oh yes, yes, dear Mr. Giant Bones, I will grind you into powder very, very, very gently! Hehehe!!"

"Look, look! This beauty only needs a touch of courage (porcupine quills), a touch of wisdom (blue heart grass), and finally... a touch of irresistible love (dragon's heart blood)~ Hehehe!!! Answer my call! Dark Lord! Makka Pakka!!"

A chilling sound emanated from Professor Snape's office, prompting passing students to exclaim that Professor Snape was becoming increasingly perverted.

This forced Snape to install a soundproofing spell on his office.

Kevin, on the other hand, was completely enjoying himself, even to the point of being a little obsessed. He felt he couldn't watch any longer, or he would be tempted to invite Kevin to eat some gossip.

And so, Kevin skipped dinner and worked until curfew, finally finishing all his work and lying on the floor, too tired to get up.

"Hiss... Am I really a little abnormal?... "

He seemed to have entered a state of enlightenment; Kevin covered his face, unable to bear to look at him, whenever he recalled his childish and manic behavior just now.

But as he was thinking about it, he fell asleep.

Snape appeared next to Kevin, kicked him, and then, finding Kevin completely fast asleep, twitched his lips.

The next day, Kevin overslept, something he rarely did. He was just too tired the day before, and felt like all his brain cells were about to die.

He got out of bed, huh?

How did I end up in the infirmary?

All he remembered was lying in Professor Snape's office after he finished his work, and that was it.

Was it the old bat who brought him to the infirmary?

Soon Mrs. Pomfrey, the school nurse, arrived and told him that Professor Snape had brought him here the night before, saying that he had been sleeping in the hallway like a pig and had just dumped him here.

? ?

Old bat! You have no heart!

Upon waking up, Kevin immediately felt a strong hunger. Fortunately, the infirmary had nutritious meals, so he wouldn't starve to death.

After eating and drinking his fill, Kevin said goodbye to Madam Pomfrey. He heard that Professor Snape had helped him get a whole day off. Gryffindor only had one class today, which was History of Magic. As everyone knows, it was the most useless class, so Kevin was too lazy to go.

He carried the list that Professor Snape had given him the night before, and he planned to thoroughly understand the potion knowledge by referring to the notes and textbook.

He studied in the library until noon. To be fair, he had a high aptitude for potions and his understanding of these things was indeed fast.

His potion experience bar was rising rapidly.

Good afternoon, everyone.

Kevin arrived at the hall right on time for lunch and immediately found the three little ones eating.

"Kevin! You're back!" The group was overjoyed to see Kevin.

"You don't know, last night we went to Professor Snape's office to find you, but Professor Snape looked like a monster and wouldn't let us in."

"Then today I learned that you had taken leave, and Professor Snape is nowhere to be found either."

Hermione ran up and looked at Kevin with concern.

"Yeah, we thought you'd been given some kind of torturous potion by Snape," Harry and Ron chimed in.

"What could possibly happen at Hogwarts? This is the safest place in England." Kevin smiled and gestured for everyone to sit down.

"Yesterday, Professor Snape actually asked me to help him with his potions, but there was so much work that I was busy until very late and just fell asleep there."

"How could he do this, making you work as free labor!" Hermione exclaimed indignantly.

"In fact, I learned a lot about potions yesterday. Professor Snape was doing this for my own good."

"No way, Kevin, you're doing Snape's work for free and you're even speaking up for him?" Ron looked at Kevin in surprise.

Kevin said a few more words, basically to reassure them.

"By the way, Kevin, we actually have something important to tell you."

Harry leaned over the table and whispered mysteriously to Kevin.

"What's so important?"

"Yesterday, when a few of us were heading back to the lounge, the staircase suddenly changed direction and took us to the 3rd floor."

That was one of the forbidden areas that Headmaster Dumbledore mentioned at the beginning of the school year!

We wanted to hurry back, but we were spotted by the caretaker Filch's cat.

We had no choice but to run deeper into the third floor, where there was a locked door at the very back.

We hid inside, only to find a three-headed dog the size of a room!

The three-headed dog was guarding a trapdoor; I suspect the classified information Hagrid and I retrieved from Gringotts is hidden inside!

Upon hearing this, Kevin realized it was the story of his first encounter with Cerberus.

"and then?"

"Then we ran away as fast as we could! Luckily, we didn't run into any administrators when we went back the way we came, otherwise we would have all lost points."

"What's so important about this?" Kevin retorted.

"Isn't that important?"

Does it matter?

"Isn't it important?"

"Never mind, forget I said anything." Kevin was too lazy to argue.

"Why are you worrying about the treasures the academy is hiding?"

"Aren't you excited! We've discovered the location of the academy's hidden treasure!" Ron exclaimed excitedly.

"So you're going to steal it?"

"..."

"Kevin...sometimes I find you pretty boring..."

Kevin's few words left the two excited boys speechless.

Hermione looked at them sternly, like a boss, and said, "You two should stop asking about these unimportant things. You'd be better off studying and preparing for your upcoming exams."

Harry had no choice but to quiet down and eat his lunch, while Ron was unconvinced by Hermione's reprimand.

For a while afterward, life seemed to settle into a routine.

Harry attended Quidditch training, while Ron went along to watch the fun.

Hermione spends most of her time in the library, except when she's in class.

Kevin also often accompanies Hermione to the library, and the two are getting closer and closer. Hermione finds that she can always learn something new from chatting with Kevin.

But Professor Snape would always show up every few days and drag Kevin into doing a bunch of potion-related work.

Thanks to this, Kevin's knowledge of potions became increasingly profound.

If Kevin had had this knowledge when he was preparing the treatment, he believed he would have been able to figure out the correct answer in just three or four tries.

Kevin was also able to easily answer Hermione's questions about potions and explain the underlying principles.

Kevin's learning of Charms went exceptionally smoothly. With his great talent and intelligence, he learned all the basic first-year charms and was very proficient at them, although his mana bar was a bit short.

As the weather grew colder, the young wizards put on winter clothes and scarves.

......

Time flew by and it was the day before Halloween.

In a typical spells class, today we learned the Levitation Charm.

Ron mumbled a broken incantation and waved his wand, but he couldn't get the feather to float up no matter what he did, so he waved it frantically in frustration.

Hermione couldn't stand it anymore and pointed out the mistake in Ron's spell, while also giving him some pointers and showing off her levitation spell.

But Ron didn't seem to appreciate it. The prideful little boy was increasingly annoyed by Hermione's constant haughtiness.

After class, Ron couldn't help but complain to Harry and his friends, sarcastically mimicking Hermione's teaching: "Who does she think she is? Leviosa, not Ravisa! No wonder she doesn't have many friends!"

"Ron!" Kevin's angry voice rang out from behind them.

Hermione, head down and clutching her book, pushed past the group and walked away quickly.

She and Kevin were just discussing the techniques and feel of the spell when they heard Ron mocking her from the front.

She had already considered Ron a friend, and she only wanted to teach him how to cast spells correctly. However, Ron not only didn't appreciate it, but also said those things to her, so she ran away, both angry and heartbroken.

Kevin was also helpless. He thought that his intervention would overshadow Hermione's aura and prevent them from arguing unnecessarily, but nothing changed. Perhaps it was because this was an important process for the three of them to establish their friendship, so it was unavoidable.

"Ron, Hermione only taught you spells because she considered you a friend. I hope you can understand that and then find a chance to apologize to Hermione."

Kevin left those words and immediately ran off to catch up with Hermione.

If I remember correctly, Professor Quirrell is going to release a giant at night, which Hermione will then encounter while hiding in the bathroom.

Ron and Harry exchanged a glance. Harry seemed a little lost, while Ron pouted, still looking somewhat unconvinced.

Kevin only knew that Hermione was hiding in the bathroom, somewhere on the first floor or the basement. He had no choice but to search both areas.

Fortunately, before nightfall, he heard the girl softly sobbing.

Kevin didn't go in; he just sat quietly in the corridor outside the women's restroom.

Meanwhile, over in the hall, the Halloween party had begun.

The children from the four colleges gathered together to enjoy this grand event.

On the Gryffindor side.

Harry looked around but didn't see Hermione and Kevin, so he asked the classmate next to him.

Then I heard that one of them was hiding in the women's restroom, while the other was searching for Hermione all over the school.

Ron, who was on the other side, also heard it and calmed down after his impulsive act in the afternoon.

I feel a little guilty.

At that moment, the hall doors were pushed open forcefully.

Professor Quirrell stumbled in, shouting:

"A troll! There's a troll in the underground classroom!"
