Chapter 28 The Shocked Tony Stark
Chapter 28 The Shocked Tony Stark
Inside Stark Tower.
"Tony, can't you just leave me alone for a bit? I'm always cleaning up your messes. Do you know how much I hate it?"
"Stop, stop, stop, Rhodes, this isn't my fault. This guy came to us on his own initiative. I just retaliated unexpectedly."
Even Rhodes, who was specifically responsible for cleaning up Tony's messes, was overwhelmed; there were already too many problems within the military.
That damn Ross has caused this mess lately, and the military still hasn't come to a conclusion. Nobody knows how to clean up this mess.
If it really came down to a fight with them, no one would have the guts; the bloody example of General James is still fresh in everyone's mind.
Although he brought it upon himself, this is the norm in officialdom; he was simply very unlucky.
Who knows what went wrong with the Blood God? He even blessed someone like Ross on a whim. How could he do that?
He was already annoyed enough, but Tony's constant fussing every few days was really taking its toll.
"So you mean you were playing with your suit at home, and you happened to be fiddling with the weapon firing mechanism, and then that guy just happened to fall from the sky, the shockwave caused you to fire a shot, and you just happened to hit him?"
"Yes, that's right, you summarized it very well, as expected of you."
Rod rolled his eyes. He didn't believe Tony's words at all. So many coincidences, even a dog wouldn't believe it, let alone him? It was utter nonsense!
"Being your brother means a life of toil."
Rod sighed. Having such a friend was truly unbelievable. He hadn't been promoted much, but he had done a lot of work. It wasn't all for nothing, though he was exhausted.
"Stop fooling around, Rod. You've come at the right time. I have something serious to tell you."
"Save your breath, Tony. Are you still upset about the attack and want me to kill him to cover it up? He's already in that state, it's practically the same as being dead. You, the big capitalist, should just let him go."
Rod had also seen the medical report from the hospital. Although he couldn't understand the professional terminology, he understood the general meaning.
Even if this Russian survives, he'll spend the rest of his life in bed. It's fortunate that he's physically strong; he didn't die instantly from falling from such a height. It's truly God's blessing.
No one could ever be as lucky as him, and if Rhodes had suffered such severe injuries, he would have been better off dead.
"Rhodes, that's not what I meant. I meant why he has a suit of armor similar to mine, and even an arc reactor."
Getting this thing is incredibly difficult. I want to know how he acquired this technology, and how many people have mastered it.
Also, why did the Book of Gorgias end up in his possession?
Tony added this thought to himself, but it wasn't appropriate to talk about this with Rhodes.
Speaking of the Book of the Apocalypse, Tony has had it for a while, but he hasn't opened it yet.
Not for any other reason than the fear in my heart.
It's as if something terrible would happen if I opened this book and saw its contents.
"The Ark Reactor should be something only I could make in the world, but that Russian has now become the second person to master the technology."
"Rhodes, I need your help. I need to find out if there's a third, or even more, person who has mastered this technology."
Rod shrugged. He had done similar jobs for Tony countless times, so doing it again wouldn't hurt.
"So, what do you plan to have me do for you?"
"That Russian is in the intensive care unit. Just keep him under control for me. Make sure no one else comes into contact with him. Notify me once he is out of danger and has regained consciousness."
Rhodes nodded, then asked a question.
"What if that Russian guy doesn't make it and dies in the intensive care unit, or what if he never wakes up again?"
"Then we don't need to worry about it anymore."
After saying that, Tony got up and prepared to leave for the laboratory.
"Hey Tony, where are you going? What are you planning to do?"
Tony stopped, turned around, looked at his friend, his lips moved, but he finally spoke, "Rhodes, you'd better not know about this, or it won't do you any good."
"You know me, Tony, I'm never afraid of challenges or dangers, but if you're being so serious, then I have to warn you, you'd better be careful."
"Since you've made your decision, I'll do as you say and keep that Russian under control. But you have to promise me that if you discover anything, good or bad, you'll tell me immediately."
Rhodes's words carried an undeniable firmness.
Tony nodded, a hint of gratitude flashing in his eyes: "Of course, Rhodes, you will always be my strongest support. I will be careful and make sure your safety is not threatened."
As for that secret, perhaps I'll tell you someday, but I hope you won't be shocked then.
After saying that, Tony turned and walked toward the laboratory, his steps carrying a strange sense of urgency.
Rhodes stood there, watching Tony's departing figure, his mind filled with doubt. He really hated this kind of riddle-solving behavior the most.
But he knew Tony's temperament; once he decided to do something, he would never give up easily. Since he had decided not to tell him, he wouldn't say a word until he was sure it was safe and under control.
As Tony walked along the road to the laboratory, a strange sense of panic welled up inside him.
Tony placed the book, The Book of the Revelation, in his laboratory. He didn't bring it with him; Tony instinctively wanted to stay away from such a forbidden book.
But at this moment, Tony felt an irresistible force pulling him, forcing him to confront that fear and uncover the truth behind the Book of Gorgias.
Inside the laboratory, the lights were soft yet bright, and various high-tech devices gleamed with a cold light. Tony walked straight to the specially made experimental table, on which lay the carefully protected copy of "The Book of Gorgon."
Tony slowly reached out, his fingertips lightly touching the cover, and a strange chill spread from his fingertips throughout his body.
He carefully turned the pages, afraid of disturbing the ancient power sleeping within. As he turned the pages, he realized that this was only the content of the first volume.
This made Tony frown. Did he have to keep looking?
He witnessed the death of his parents, the rise of the Red Giant, and then...
"Tony Stark is about to die from palladium poisoning. Does he have a chance to get the answers even his father couldn't?"
Upon seeing this, Tony's pupils widened suddenly!
