Grassroots lawyers also have their day

Chapter 19 When a person is utterly shameless, he is invincible!

Previously, the man was narrow-minded and went to extremes, causing trouble at the woman's company every few days. Not only did he disturb the woman's peace, but he also missed several days of work. As a result, his company thought he had mental problems and fired him on the grounds of absenteeism.

The woman had told Director Niu about the man being fired, and it was also recorded in the case record, so Wang Chuan knew about it.

"Plaintiff, are you aware of the defendant's situation?" the middle-aged female judge asked.

"I know. But we believe that the defendant's dismissal from the company is not the plaintiff's fault; it was entirely his own doing..." Wang Chuan said immediately.

"Judge, I can give him another 50,000. But this money is not compensation; it's because I feel sorry for him and think he's shameless, and I'm giving it to him because of his shamelessness." The woman finally couldn't hold back anymore and directly interrupted Wang Chuan, who was trying to argue for her.

"Fifty thousand won't do! At least one hundred thousand!" Before the middle-aged female judge could speak, the man said impatiently, speaking with righteous indignation and self-assurance.

The woman was so angry she almost exploded, but she quickly suppressed her anger, glaring at the other person and gritting her teeth as she said, "Ten thousand it is... you're a fucking bastard!"

After the woman finished scolding him, tears streamed down her face, and she began to sob softly.

The middle-aged female judge did not stop her, and now the judge finally understands why the woman wants a divorce.

Wang Chuan shook his head: When a person is shameless enough, he is invincible!

"I'll ask you one last time, are you both willing to mediate?" the middle-aged female judge asked.

"I'm willing!" the man said. "If it's the same conditions as before, I agree to mediation."

"We are willing to mediate, so let's mediate according to the conditions we just reached!" Wang Chuan said to the judge after consulting with the woman.

"Alright! Plaintiff, please calm down. I'll issue you a mediation agreement right away, and you two can review the record and sign it in a bit." With that, the judge left the courtroom.

Half an hour later, Wang Chuan and Lao Niu accompanied the woman out of the courtroom. The man held the mediation agreement issued by the court, looked at it again and again, his eyes filled with joy, and excitedly hailed a taxi and left after leaving the courthouse.

It was already past five o'clock when they left the courthouse. Lao Niu and Wang Chuan watched their client drive away.

"Xiao Wang, you did a good job today." Old Niu turned his head and saw that Wang Chuan was in low spirits. He had an idea and comforted him, "The client's request has been completed. Life goes on, and there are many days ahead. Don't have any burden on your mind!"

Life can't always be perfect; we should only strive for half of what we desire!

To put it bluntly, our job is to get paid to solve people's problems, and we're exposed to a lot of negative information. We need to learn to regulate our emotions and never get caught up in it!

Wang Chuan nodded emphatically. His master, Old Niu, had taught him a lesson today!

The next morning, Wang Chuan arrived at the law firm and found that there was an extra person in the usually empty workstation.

"Wang Chuan, let me introduce you. This is lawyer Zheng Yi. He officially started working here yesterday afternoon. He's with the director to a court hearing since you weren't here," Zheng Pengzi said hastily as Wang Chuan entered.

Wang Chuan looked at Zheng Yi and saw that he had a square face, a buzz cut, and looked to be about twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old. He had a big nose, a big mouth, big eyes, big ears, and thick eyebrows, and he had a masculine and righteous air about him!

Attorney Zheng had already stood up and smiled, "Hello, I'm Zheng Yi. We'll be colleagues from now on. Just let me know if you need any help."

"You're too kind. I just received my intern lawyer's license, and I'll have a lot to learn from you in the future," Wang Chuan said immediately. His attitude was very sincere.

Upon learning that Wang Chuan was just an intern lawyer, Zheng Yi simply smiled and said, "We can learn from each other. I haven't been a lawyer for very long either, only three years this year. There's still a lot I need to learn."

Zheng Yi's words are quite realistic. In the legal profession, getting a lawyer's license after a twelve-month internship is basically just the first step across the threshold.

If the gods are on your side, a newly licensed lawyer can handle some simple cases and earn a meager living, but that's all. If the gods don't favor you, even with a lawyer's license, you're practically starting from scratch. If you happen to be assigned to a reckless lawyer and happen to be handling criminal cases, you might end up getting arrested and sentenced before the criminal case is even finished. That's how high the risk factor is.

Lawyers in the industry all know that getting a license isn't the real skill; the real skill is being able to survive independently for the first three years and do quite well. If you can get through those three years without starving, then you can have a bright future ahead, and at least supporting your family shouldn't be a problem.

It could be said that the first three years after obtaining a lawyer's license are the darkest period for lawyers. Without cases, skills, or capital, they have to rely entirely on their own lives and physical strength, and have no dignity as lawyers (except for a few lawyers with connections).

Some say that a person's dignity is not given by others (charity), but earned by themselves; then where does a lawyer's dignity come from? It comes from accumulating one case after another.

When lawyers no longer have to worry about food and clothing and can freely choose their career path, they can live with dignity, and then they will naturally have respect.

However, many lawyers "die" in the first three years. Of course, this excludes those who have been lawyers for a long time, get tired of it, and don't want to do it anymore. As a result, various ways of breaking out have emerged. It's like a besieged city: people outside are trying hard to squeeze in, while people inside are considering changing careers to make a living.

Some lawyers switch careers to in-court counsel, which is not bad, at least they have studied law for so many years and worked hard to pass the bar exam, so their work is related to law.

Some lawyers switched careers to make beef noodles, completely entering a new field—the food and beverage industry. Others turned their side hustles into their main profession, working in animation, writing novels, or even engaging in one of the oldest and most fantastical industries in China—natural environment consulting, commonly known as fortune-telling or divination!

Although it's a pity, from the perspective of human survival, it's a very normal thing. How can a living person let themselves die from holding their pee? If this job is not working out and it's really not suitable for you, then change to another job. Maybe you'll find your true love (a job you're good at)!

Wang Chuan felt that lawyer Zheng Yi spoke very honestly, at least more honestly than Director Niu. However, upon closer reflection, it seemed that most leaders were not very honest, because if they were too honest, they would not be promoted!

"I heard from the administration that another lawyer, Wan, will be joining the company in a few days. Our team is going to grow even bigger," Zheng, the troll, said excitedly.

"By the way, Senior Brother, how did your court hearing go yesterday? Share it with us!" Pan Jinlian didn't want to follow Zheng's lead, so she changed the subject.

"Ugh! Don't even mention it, it was truly mind-blowing!" Wang Chuan vividly recounted the court hearing from yesterday afternoon.

When she heard the man tearfully demanding compensation and the woman angrily giving him 100,000 yuan, Zheng, the troll, put her skills to use and began to relentlessly berate the scumbag.
