I flew on a sword at the magic academy
Chapter 5 Oriental Exchange Students
Chapter 5: Exchange Students from the East (Part 2)
"Miss Daohan, how did you fly just now? I've never seen you fly like that before, it's so cool! Can you teach me?" On the way to the registrar's office, George started talking non-stop.
"You mean flying on a sword? Almost every sword cultivator in our Shu Mountain knows how to do that. If you can't even fly on a sword, you'd be embarrassed to call yourself a sword cultivator when you go out," Shi Daohan said dismissively.
Upon hearing this, both George and Allen cast envious glances at him.
As far as they knew, only students who passed the flight course exam at the magic academy could own their own magic broom.
But that's all there is to it, because you can only use the magic broom to fly within the area designated by the teacher.
But from Shi Daohan's words, they could imagine the scene of everyone riding flying swords and flying freely in the sky. It would be a lie to say they weren't envious.
"If there's a chance in the future, I can teach you," Shi Daohan said with a smile.
"Really? Miss Daohan, can you really teach us?" George wondered several times if he had misheard.
Even Allen, who had been quiet all along, now had a hopeful look in his eyes.
"Of course, it's not some secret technique that can't be passed on to outsiders." Shi Daohan shrugged nonchalantly.
The registrar's hall at Horajaka College is where all newly enrolled students register.
"Students, Dean Ron was delayed on his way due to some matters, but he is on his way now." Academician Daniel said with a hint of apology, and asked all the freshmen to find seats.
Shi Daohan and the two brothers, George and Allen, found a seat by the window.
As soon as Shi Daohan sat down, she was drawn to the window next to her and curiously tapped on it with her finger.
"It's neither glass nor ordinary glass; it's a very special material."
Shi Daohan attached a wisp of magic power to his fingers and tapped them a few more times.
"Snap!"
The window shattered with a crisp cracking sound, scattering shards and fragments of glass all over the floor.
"Oh my god! You've messed up!" George exclaimed instinctively, his face full of bewilderment.
Shi Daohan glanced back at him, thinking to herself: It's just a piece of glass made of a slightly special material, why is he so nervous?
"Don't be afraid," Shi Daohan said with a smile, then picked up a shard of glass from the ground, held it in her hand, and seemed to want to crush it.
"Don't!"
Allen screamed, already imagining the scene of Shi Daohan's fair hand being cut by glass and bleeding profusely. He quickly covered his own and his brother George's eyes.
However, after a while, the expected scream of pain from Shi Daohan did not come. Allen slightly parted his fingers covering his eyes to look out.
No blood flowed out; Shi Daohan's hand was completely unharmed, and the shard of glass was long gone, leaving only a small amount of powder in her palm.
"The material is a bit special, but it's not as hard as I imagined. How should I put it, it's all show and no substance."
Shi Daohan gave his evaluation, then blew lightly to disperse the powder on his hand.
Although Allen was surprised, he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Shi Daohan was not injured, and removed his hands from covering his and his brother George's eyes.
George looked at Shi Daohan in disbelief: "You can even crush ice essence? How did you do that?"
"Maybe it's because I'm a bit stronger and my skin is a bit harder?" Shi Daohan winked at him.
"What happened?" Daniel walked over quickly, followed by an elderly man with white hair wearing a black robe, who was none other than Ron, the dean of the academic affairs office.
George, at a loss, pointed to Shi Daohan, then to the broken window beside him.
"You didn't make this well. It broke with just a light touch," Shi Daohan said, touching his nose somewhat guiltily.
Academician Daniel, Dean Ron, and the brothers Allen and George all looked at Shi Daohan with complicated expressions.
What do you mean by "shattering with the slightest touch"? That window was made from the essence of ice extracted from century-old hard ice, and its hardness is dozens of times greater than that of glass. How come it became so fragile in your case?
"I can pay for it at the original price." Seeing their expressions, Shi Daohan guessed that the glass must have been very expensive.
"No, no need to pay compensation!" Academician Daniel quickly said.
Although the Ice Essence is expensive, Shi Daohan is a newly transferred exchange student and may not know this. If she is made to pay the full price because of this, it would make Horagaka Magic Academy seem stingy and heartless.
Dean Ron didn't mention compensation, but instead asked Shi Daohan if she was injured.
Shi Daohan smiled gently, shook her head, and said, "It's nothing."
The dean breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Don't touch things carelessly again in the future. It's okay if things break, but don't hurt yourself."
Hearing this, Shi Daohan felt a warmth in her heart. She nodded, gave Dean Ron and Academician Daniel a sweet smile, and said, "I understand."
The dean took out a magic wand and chanted a spell over the broken window, roughly meaning to restore the window.
After reciting the incantation, Dean Ron gently tapped the glass shards and fragments scattered on the ground with his magic wand, and they rose into the air and then pieced themselves back together, quickly forming a window that was then embedded back in the wall.
There is a hole in the bottom right corner, which is obviously missing a piece.
Shi Daohan touched her nose somewhat guiltily. The missing piece must be the one she had just crushed into powder by hand.
But Dean Ron was unaware of all this. He stood there dumbfounded for several seconds, staring at the gap in the lower right corner of the window with a look of surprise and uncertainty, unable to understand why his healing magic had such an effect.
He recited the incantation again and tapped the window with his magic wand, but the result was the same; the gap was not repaired.
"Can't Western magic create things out of thin air?" Shi Daohan wondered. It was just restoring a window, why make it so complicated?
Seeing Dean Ron's somewhat frustrated expression, Shi Daohan silently gathered her magic power, and the glass shards that she had just crushed into powder reappeared in her palm.
"Everyone fails sometimes. Let's try again; maybe this time we'll succeed?"
Seeing Shi Daohan's sweet smile, Dean Ron regained his confidence, took a deep breath, and waved his magic wand again.
Meanwhile, Shi Daohan silently cast a small spell, secretly replacing the shard of glass in his hand.
Looking at the intact window, Dean Ron smiled with satisfaction and carefully put away his magic wand.
After giving a few brief instructions, he turned and walked towards his desk.
"Alright students, let's start taking attendance now. Students whose names are called, please come here to register."
Academician Daniel also left to tidy up Shi Daohan's dormitory.
"You're really lucky. Do you know how expensive this window was? It cost over a hundred magic stones. Dean Ron is known for his strictness, but he didn't scold you just now."
After seeing that Dean Ron and Academician Daniel had left, George whispered to Shi Daohan.
"What is a magic stone?" Shi Daohan asked, puzzled.
"Magic stones are the hard currency of the magical world, serving the same function as the currency used in the normal world," Allen explained.
Shi Daohan opened her palm, and a flash of light appeared, revealing a palm-sized, crystal-clear, and radiant spirit stone in her hand.
"Is this it?"
"What a beautiful stone, but it's not a magic stone."
"Huh?" Shi Daohan was stunned, as if struck by lightning, and almost fainted on the spot. Her lips trembled as she said, "Isn't this the magic stone you were talking about?"
"No," both Allen and George shook their heads.
After receiving an affirmative answer, Shi Daohan deflated like a punctured balloon and slumped into her seat.
She originally thought that the magic stone was the same as the spirit stone in the East, just with different names, but she didn't expect that they were two completely unrelated things.
"Oh no, oh no, does that mean all the tens of thousands of spirit stones in my storage ring are now useless?" Shi Daohan looked utterly hopeless.
It's like a billionaire who goes bankrupt overnight; she doesn't know how she'll live in the Horagaka Academy from now on.
"Is this the hard currency of your Eastern magical world? If so, you can exchange it for magic stones at the academy on a one-to-one basis."
Allen said that although he was just a freshman, he knew a lot about the magical world.
Upon hearing this, Shi Daohan's eyes lit up again. She grabbed Allen's shoulders and shook him vigorously, excitedly asking, "Really? Can we really exchange it for your magic stones?"
"In the normal world, currencies from different countries can be exchanged, right? So naturally, they can too in the magical world."
Allen felt a little dizzy from the shaking, and his face turned red involuntarily as he caught a whiff of Shi Daohan's faint body fragrance.
"Haha, thank you for telling me all this. I don't have to go bankrupt." Shi Daohan's eyes narrowed into crescent shapes as she smiled, expressing her heartfelt gratitude.
There were more than 300 new students waiting to register at the Academic Affairs Office. Dean Ron sat at his desk and called out names one by one. Shi Daohan also took this opportunity to look at the new students around him.
[Although they look no different from ordinary people, they have clearly all had cultivation experience. It seems that the Horagaka Magic Academy doesn't teach students from scratch; a certain foundation is required to be selected.]
Shi Daohan silently observed everyone in the Academic Affairs Office and discovered that these people all had some cultivation experience and a good foundation.
The two brothers, Allen and George, who were sitting next to her, also carried a special aura, a unique Daoist charm possessed by cultivators.
