I flew on a sword at the magic academy

Chapter 4 Oriental Exchange Students

Chapter 4: Exchange Students from the East (Part 1)

With a light tap of his toes, Shi Daohan leaned back slightly and soared backward like a rainbow, tracing a graceful arc in the air before landing on his longsword. He hovered above the two academicians and casually remarked, "I think flying on a sword is much cooler."

Her smooth and fluid movements stunned the two academicians, their mouths agape in disbelief, their eyes filled with envy.

"Let's set off quickly, don't delay," Shi Daohan urged.

"Hey, Venus, what's wrong?" Daniel noticed that Venus was standing still without moving and couldn't help but ask.

Academician Venus shook her head and said, "Daniel, I've found that I've fallen in love with this place. I'm fascinated by the ancient Eastern architectural aesthetics and their culture. I want to stay here."

"But what about Headmaster Donaldson..."

"The East has a rich and ancient history. I think there are many things in their culture that we can learn from, such as the concept of 'governing by doing nothing'. I believe that Dean Donaldson will support me."

Venus's gaze was firm, clearly indicating that she had made up her mind.

Seeing his insistence, Daniel didn't say anything more and simply nodded, saying, "Alright, I'll explain the situation to the headmaster."

And so, Academician Daniel and Shi Daohan set off together, leaving the Shushan Immortal Alliance and heading west.

Once outside of Mount Shu, Shi Daohan vanished into the distant horizon with a whoosh, like an arrow released from a bow.

Academician Daniel chased after him desperately on his magic broom, but even with the Swiftness Magic that greatly increased his speed, he couldn't catch up with Shi Daohan's shadow, leaving him sweating profusely with anxiety.

"That's..." Daniel squinted and noticed a small point of light on the horizon ahead, but it was too far away for him to see what it was.

As he drew closer, he realized it was a streak of light, like a comet, hurtling toward him at breakneck speed.

Just as they were about to collide, Daniel quickly turned the broom he was on, but because he used too much force, he fell over and ended up hanging upside down on the broom, looking rather comical.

"Whoosh..."

The streak of light approached, made a sharp turn, and then stopped in front of Daniel; it was Shi Daohan, flying on his sword.

"You're flying way too slowly! At this rate, when will you ever reach the West?"

Shi Daohan stood on the longsword with a helpless expression. She had already flown thousands of miles away, but when she looked back, she couldn't see Daniel's figure, so she turned around and came back.

As she spoke, Shi Daohan raised her hand and waved it, and a small, exquisite sailboat appeared in her palm. She tossed it into the air, and it grew larger and larger in the wind, reaching a length of several hundred feet. Palaces and pavilions stood on it, making it look like a divine city in the sky.

"Come on up, let's fly over there another way."

Shi Daohan stepped onto the deck and waved to Academician Daniel.

The ship was fully equipped, and Academician Daniel was full of praise, like a curious child touching this and that, his face full of envy.

Shi Daohan led him to the main hall of the ship, which was decorated in a modern style with a simple black and white color scheme.

"Set sail!" Shi Daohan snapped his fingers, and the sailboat shot into the sky, leaving a long trail in its wake.

"My God, this speed is even faster than an airplane!" Daniel couldn't help but exclaim, his face full of disbelief, and asked Shi Daohan how she did it.

"This is a gift created jointly by the Military, Formation, and Talisman departments and given to me, their senior sister," Shi Daohan boasted proudly.

The entire construction of this giant sailing ship was done by the Military Academy, and the interior also contains array formations and talismans from the Array Cultivation Academy and the Talisman Cultivation Academy, integrating offense and defense.

It was created by junior students from the three academies of Military, Formation, and Talisman as a tribute to their senior sister.

Of course, whether they did it voluntarily or were coerced or lured by Shi Daohan remains unknown.

The sailboat could fly on its own. After Shi Daohan got a specific location from Academician Daniel, she agreed to let him visit and study various parts of the ship, while she sat cross-legged on the sofa and closed her eyes to rest.

After a quiet period, the sailboat sailed into the western territory, and Shi Daohan got up and walked out of the main hall to the deck to look around.

The world here is actually quite similar to the cities in China, with towering skyscrapers and bustling activity.

"Our magic guild has a clear rule that magic cannot be displayed in the eyes of ordinary people, so we can no longer continue flying," Daniel explained to Shi Daohan.

Shi Daohan raised an eyebrow: "I didn't use magic."

Daniel was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to refute, and could only ask Shi Daohan to avoid ordinary people as much as possible to avoid causing unnecessary disturbances.

Guided by Daniel, they left the bustling city and entered a pristine mountain forest.

[Hmm? Is it a barrier? It doesn't quite seem like one... but it's definitely isolated from the outside world.]

Shi Daohan muttered to herself, but as she entered this primeval forest, she found herself for a moment disconnected from the world.

Although it was only for a brief moment, she still managed to catch it keenly, but she didn't pay too much attention to it.

"Many dangerous magical beasts inhabit the forest, but they generally don't attack people unless provoked. We just need to be careful as we pass through," Academician Daniel said.

Shi Daohan steered the sailboat into the deepest part of the primeval forest, and soon a vast lake appeared ahead.

It's more like a vast ocean than a lake, because it's so huge, with endless blue waves that stretch as far as the eye can see.

In the very center of the lake lies an island where the Horagaka Magic Academy stands, its spires and corner towers towering high, its pointed arches and exquisitely carved stone pillars exuding a strong Nordic architectural style.

If we say that the palaces of the East give people the feeling of a solemn and powerful emperor sitting on his throne, looking down on the world.

So, the architecture on their western side gives people the feeling of a general in heavy armor, holding a sword and standing between heaven and earth, solemn and dignified.

Horajaka College is located on an island in the middle of the lake, more than a kilometer away from the shore, and there is no bridge connecting them.

Shi Daohan originally wanted to fly directly over in a sailboat, but was strongly stopped by Academician Daniel.

He felt that since Shi Daohan had just transferred, it would be better for her to keep a low profile for the time being to avoid causing unnecessary trouble.

Upon hearing his explanation, Shi Daohan nodded, finding it somewhat reasonable. He then stowed away the sailboat and chose to fly over on his sword.

Daniel hurriedly took out his magic broom, mounted it, and chased after Shi Daohan.

A large crowd had gathered in front of the gates of Horagaka Magic Academy, all of them newly arrived freshmen. Shi Daohan's arrival on his sword naturally attracted a lot of attention.

"Look, that person!" someone exclaimed.

Shi Daohan walked slowly by on his sword, his hands behind his back. His purple Taoist robe fluttered in the wind, making him look like an immortal.

"Hello." Shi Daohan leaped down from the longsword, sheathed it with a clang, and then greeted the people in front of him with a smile and a cupped-hand salute.

"Wow, so cool! Your hair is so beautiful, and your clothes are amazing too! And you can even fly without a magic broom!" A little boy exclaimed in amazement at Shi Daohan.

He looked to be only about ten years old. He wasn't very tall, barely reaching Shi Daohan's belly. His brownish-yellow curly hair was messy, like a bird's nest, but his chubby little face was quite cute.

Beside him was a tall boy with the same brown-yellow curly hair, which was well-groomed. He was blinking his sapphire-blue eyes, looking at Shi Daohan with great curiosity.

"My name is George Gold, and this is my brother, Alan Gold," the chubby boy said, pointing to himself and then to the tall man next to him.

"You're brothers, and you're both named Gold?"

Shi Daohan was a bit confused. Same name, different surname, how could they be brothers?

"No, no, no, Gold is our surname."

The chubby boy quickly explained.

Shi Daohan roughly understood that Westerners put their first name first and last name last, and they usually just say their first name, only adding their last name on important occasions.

To show respect, they added their surnames when introducing themselves to Shi Daohan.

[Fortunately, things were cleared up, otherwise the misunderstandings that might have arisen later would have been much bigger.] Shi Daohan thought to himself, and then introduced himself.

"I am an exchange student who transferred from the Eastern Shushan Immortal Alliance. My name is Shi Daohan."

"So you're the exchange student from the ancient East?"

A hint of surprise flashed in George's and Allen's eyes, but they quickly became even more enthusiastic.

"If you need any help, just tell us brothers. The college has already given us a notice in advance, telling us to take good care of you, the new exchange student."

"No problem, no problem, let's help each other and create a better future together." Shi Daohan's eyes narrowed into crescent shapes with laughter.

In the distance, Daniel finally caught up on his magic broom. Seeing that the outgoing Shi Daohan had already become friends with the new students, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He was initially worried that Shi Daohan would become reserved and hesitant to talk to people in the unfamiliar environment, but seeing how much she was enjoying herself, he was relieved.

"Crunch... crunch..."

Just then, the gates of the Horagaka Magic Academy opened, and the many people gathered outside could not hide their excitement.

Since Shi Daohan had just transferred to the school, she needed to report to the academic affairs office. George and Allen, as freshmen who had just enrolled this year, also needed to register at the academic affairs office. The three of them happened to be going the same way, so they went together.
