Chapter 245 They've rebelled! They're using our assets to attack us!

The night wind whipped up yellow sand, and several dilapidated pickup trucks were scattered across the wasteland, their headlights casting crisscrossing beams of light that illuminated the scattered pebbles.

Su Ming stood in the middle of the convoy and glanced down at his watch.

"Everyone get on the bus." Su Ming put his hand down. "Even if Blood Axe reacts slowly, he should come to his senses in ten minutes. Get on the bus within thirty seconds. Engineers will be in four buses. Lao Gao, count the number of people."

Old Gao sprang to his feet, gripping a large adjustable wrench, and began shooing people away: "Hurry up! Get in the car! Anyone who doesn't want to stay and weld steel bars, get the hell out of here!"

Thirty-odd engineers scrambled and tumbled into the truck bed.

Li Changfeng strode over, unzipped his combat uniform, and checked the spare magazine at his waist. He pointed to the dark wilderness ahead: "The support team is thirty-five kilometers away. Once we cross that weathered rock area, that's our territory."

Just then.

"Ugh—!"

Air raid sirens blared from the direction of the fortress, their piercing sound causing a sharp pain in the eardrums.

Just as Lao Gao was about to get into the car, he heard the alarm and his leg twitched, causing him to slide down the car door to the ground. He clung tightly to the tire, his face turning completely white.

"It's over, the bandits have recovered!" Old Gao shouted, trembling.

"That's normal. The more you lose, the more out of control you become when you finally realize what's happening." Su Ming opened the passenger door of the last beat-up pickup truck. "Evacuate according to plan. Black Grasshopper, you lead the way. Brother Li, Uncle Zhao, you two ride in the lead car. Big Gold Tooth and I will cover the rear."

Black Grasshopper swallowed hard and scrambled into the driver's seat of the first new pickup truck. Li Changfeng got into the passenger seat with his gun, while Old Zhao, carrying a thermos, crawled into the back.

Big Gold Tooth ran over, clutching his notebook, looking excited.

"Dad! This whole convoy is huge, should I number the vehicles?" Big Gold Tooth puffed out his chest and loudly requested, "Let's call them Risk Control Number One through Seven! It'll show the professionalism and grandeur of our multinational corporation!"

Old Zhao leaned halfway out of the car window, nearly smashing his thermos with his hand: "Screw you! Their rocket launchers are coming out soon! Are you putting on a car show? Get back to the rear!"

Big Gold Tooth shrank his neck and quickly jumped into the last pickup truck.

Su Ming fastened his seatbelt and looked straight ahead.

Big Gold Tooth gripped the steering wheel, turned to stare at Su Ming, his eyes gleaming: "Dad, should we cover their retreat? Should I turn around and rush back to give them a lecture on bankruptcy law? I just memorized my opening lines for collecting debts!"

"No need." Su Ming kept his eyes forward. "Your current identity is the risk control supervisor of a legitimate security company. Turning back would be considered disorderly conduct, which is illegal. Drive."

Big Gold Tooth looked enlightened: "Perspective, this is perspective!"

With that, he floored the accelerator, and the seven pickup trucks roared into the depths of the wilderness, kicking up clouds of yellow dust.

At the same time, in the office on the third floor of the fortress.

"Work? I'll fucking beat the hell up!"

Blood Axe immediately exploded, drawing his pistol and firing wildly at the ceiling.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Plaster chips fell down with a clatter.

The adjutant crawled out from under the table, still clutching the copy of the mortgage agreement tightly in his hand.

"Boss, I get it now!" the adjutant gritted his teeth, his face flushed. "He just said he'd pay wages, but he didn't say how much! If he only pays ten dollars a month, we'll have to pay his utility bills!"

"Get out!" Blood Axe kicked the adjutant out the door.

Blood Axe rushed into the corridor, grabbed the megaphone on the wall, and yelled downstairs, "All troops assemble! Bring out the heavy machine guns! Get the rocket launchers from the garage! They can't get far!"

Chaos erupted in the courtyard. Hundreds of black men were running around with guns in hand.

"Boss, what grounds are we going to use to pursue them?" a leader shouted, looking up. "Aren't we legal security guards now?"

"Fuck you! I'm a bandit, not a security captain!" Blood Axe's eyes were bloodshot, veins bulging on his forehead. "They're swindling! They're robbing! Beat them up! As long as we get back that stack of papers with fingerprints on them and burn them, we'll still be the richest bandits in Black Earth Kingdom!"

Blood Axe grabbed the AK and rushed down the stairs in three quick steps, his face full of murderous intent.

"Get in the car! Chase them!" Blood Axe roared. "If we don't catch them, I'll sell you all for food tomorrow!"

Seven beat-up pickup trucks sped across the wasteland.

On the horizon behind, a dozen blinding headlights were right behind the car's taillights.

"Da da da da—"

Two kilometers away, Blood Axe's heavy machine gunners had already begun blind firing. Dark red tracer bullets crisscrossed, tearing through the night, striking the yellow earth beside the convoy and kicking up clouds of mud and sand.

"Bang!"

Inside the lead truck, the pickup made a sharp turn, and Old Zhao's head slammed heavily against the metal roof.

"Holy crap!" Old Zhao clutched his head, spilling water from his thermos all over his crotch.

The driver, Black Grasshopper, was so frightened that he frantically swerved the steering wheel, causing the pickup truck to make an exaggerated S-shape on the dirt road.

"You black grasshopper! Who the hell are you guiding?" Old Zhao, clutching his thermos, was being jostled so much that his head was hitting the roof of the car. "Are you trying to avoid satellite positioning, or are you trying to prevent your ancestral graves from emitting smoke? Just drive straight!"

Black Grasshopper gripped the steering wheel tightly, screaming at the top of his lungs, "If I go straight, I'll be riddled with bullets! I'm swerving!"

On the last car.

Hearing the gunshots from behind, Big Gold Tooth slammed his hand on the steering wheel, his face contorted with rage at the thought of his assets being seized.

"This is outrageous! Utterly outrageous!" Big Gold Tooth cried out in anguish. "Those heavy machine guns, those pickup trucks, those bullets—these are all legitimate assets of our risk control department! They're using our assets to attack us! This is a serious case of embezzlement!"

Su Ming sat in the passenger seat, holding his backpack to his chest.

He rolled down the car window a crack, letting the wind rush in, and glanced back at the approaching light and shadow.

"Big Gold Tooth, speed things up!"

Under the cover of night, the deafening roar of the pursuers' engines filled the air as Blood Axe's convoy slowly closed in. The first RPG rocket, trailing a blinding plume of flame, pierced the darkness and hurtled towards the convoy.
