Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 48 First Encounter with the Three-Headed Dog
"Harry!" Hermione exclaimed in surprise when she saw the person who had arrived.
It's the middle of the night, shouldn't they be sound asleep in their dorm? How did they sneak out?
"What are you doing here?" Hermione walked up to Harry, while Ron huddled listlessly in the corner like a defeated rooster.
"It's all because of that Malfoy!"
Ron was filled with resentment, his eyes glaring fiercely at Kane. His goodwill towards the Malfoy family was negative infinity!
"Kane? What does Kane have to do with this?" Hermione turned to Harry, her eyes full of confusion.
She was utterly speechless at the wizard in the corner. This was the first time Kane had ever appeared in his sight since they parted ways last time.
"Hermione, it's not Kane's fault, it's Draco! He's going to duel Ron!" Harry quickly reached out and grabbed Hermione.
They were afraid that she might impulsively rush up and teach Ron a lesson.
"What? Where are the Dracos?" Hermione immediately craned her neck, her eyes searching eagerly into the darkness.
As a result, all they could see was darkness.
"No need to look anymore, Draco definitely didn't come," Kane said, stepping forward.
He never expected that the events from the original story would actually happen again, except that this time Draco was dueling with Ron.
Hermione looked at Kane with a puzzled expression.
Kane turned his gaze to Harry, his tone carrying a hint of accusation.
"Draco's dueling with him, what are you doing out there?"
"Ron lost 50 points because of Hermione's situation, and I don't want him to lose points again because of this, so..."
Harry's expression showed a hint of conflict, before he could finish speaking.
"So, you want to get points deducted along with him?"
Hermione cut Harry off without any politeness.
At this point, Harry realized he had made a mistake, since he had already decided not to play with Ron anymore.
In the end, in an attempt to dissuade Ron, he unwittingly broke the school rules along with him, and ended up getting himself implicated as well.
"Oh? Honey, you mean there are people here?"
In the distance, the whispers of Filch and Mrs. Lorris could be heard faintly.
That hoarse yet alert voice was like a sharp electric current.
The sight instantly put Harry and Ron on high alert.
"Run!"
Harry reacted with lightning speed, before Kane and Hermione could even react.
He rushed over like an arrow, grabbed Kane, and ran away.
Hermione glanced back and then looked at the figure rushing ahead.
After a brief hesitation, he stamped his foot and quickly followed, muttering to himself, "I hope Gryffindor doesn't lose any more points."
The group ran frantically down the dimly lit corridor, making all sorts of turns in their panic, and somehow ended up somewhere completely lost.
At this moment, a huge and old door appeared in front of them.
The door is carved with mysterious and intricate patterns, and the bronze handle gleams with a cold, eerie light in the dim light.
"Quick, get inside!" Harry shouted urgently, panting.
Ron rushed forward, grabbed the handle, and pushed hard.
The door swayed slightly, making a dull creaking sound, but then stopped abruptly and became immobile.
Then he turned around, looking miserable.
"The door is locked, I can't open it!"
"Let me do it, open the Cave of Araho."
Hermione reacted quickly, and with a crisp incantation, she gently waved her wand.
With a soft "click," the door unlocked. Hermione quickly pushed the door open.
The moment the door opened, Kane's gaze sharpened like that of a hawk.
I spotted the tall, imposing three-headed dog in the room at a glance!
Without hesitation, he instantly pulled his wand from his robes, gripped it tightly in his hand, and tensed all his muscles, ready to face this enormous beast.
He had absolutely no idea what to do, and was completely unsure whether the three-headed dog would suddenly attack and hurt him.
He now suspects that Dumbledore orchestrated his meeting with Harry.
I'm exhausted right now, and you're giving me more to do?
The remaining three leaned against the door, barely daring to breathe, listening intently to the sounds outside.
Soon, they heard Filch's footsteps approaching, accompanied by Mrs. Lorris's meows, each sound like a hammer blow to their hearts.
"I clearly heard the sound stop here. Where could those brats have gone?"
Filch muttered, his voice coming right outside the door, so close it seemed he could reach out and touch it.
Their hearts were in their throats, and they covered their mouths tightly, afraid of making a sound.
Fortunately, Filch lingered outside the door for a while, found nothing unusual, and then slowly left.
As the footsteps faded into the distance, the group breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to turn around and examine the temporary shelter.
Suddenly, a deep roar came from the depths of the room. They stared in horror.
There stood a huge three-headed dog, each head taller than a person!
Its gaping maw revealed jagged fangs, and its red eyes gleamed menacingly in the darkness, staring intently at them.
At that moment, the air seemed to freeze, and a palpable sense of danger enveloped them.
"Go!" Kane reacted quickly and decisively, forcefully pushing the three of them out the door.
At the same time, he stood sideways, wand raised high, ready to cover the rear.
Fortunately, the three-headed dog did not immediately pounce, allowing them to escape unharmed.
"Damn it, there's a monster like that in the school!" Ron jogged along.
He kept grumbling and his body was trembling uncontrollably; he was clearly terrified.
Harry remained silent, his eyes still somewhat glazed over, clearly not yet recovered from the terrifying scene he had just witnessed.
"It's guarding something!" Hermione said calmly to the two of them as she ran back.
"How did you know?" Ron asked, looking unconvinced.
He had been disliking Hermione's omniscient demeanor for the past two days, and now he was filled with even more doubts.
"There's a door under that monster! Kane, did you see it?" Hermione explained, then looked at Kane for confirmation.
"I saw it." Kane secretly admired Hermione for being able to observe the crucial details so meticulously in such a critical situation.
He increasingly felt that without Hermione, the trio would have been in complete chaos long ago, and the story would have ended abruptly.
"Did you hear that?" Hermione said, looking at Ron with a smug expression.
Ron was still a little unconvinced, muttering to himself, "Tch, maybe you guys conspired to say that."
"Alright, let's go back first, or Filch will come again!" Harry snapped out of his daze and quickly called to the others.
He was genuinely scared and longed to return to his warm and safe dormitory as soon as possible so he could get a good night's sleep.
Soon, they all returned to their dormitories.
Kane returned to his dormitory and fiddled with the Rubik's Cube he had just acquired and the wand that had been unsealed.
He had a vague feeling that his wand held a great secret.
This secret is even related to his time travel.
But after studying it for a long time, he still couldn't figure it out.
Left with no other choice, I had to leave them aside and prepare to go to sleep.
However, after Kane fell asleep, his wand and Rubik's Cube seemed to be drawn together by some mysterious force, and began to subtly exchange magic.
A faint light flickered in the darkness, but Kane, fast asleep, was completely unaware of it.
Soon, a brand new day arrived with the dawn.
As usual, Kane got up early, woke up Draco's roommates, and then they went to the Great Hall for dinner together.
Just as everyone was enjoying their meal, a flock of owls swooped into the hall, instantly shattering the tranquility.
A commotion suddenly arose from the Gryffindor table.
"Ron, I received a howling message!"
