Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 24 Professor Alder Green
There were no classes in the evening, but Kane didn't go straight back to his dorm. Instead, he went to the library on the fifth floor.
The library was quiet; everyone was afraid of the irritable Mrs. Pince.
This lady disliked those little wizards who didn't take care of books and those who made a lot of noise in the library.
"What are you doing here?" Hermione was reading in the library when she looked up and saw Kane walking over.
"Of course I'm here to learn!" Kane said earnestly; he really was here to learn!
Hermione understood. Sure enough, the other person's ability was inseparable from their daily hard work. She also needed to work harder!
So Hermione buried herself in the ocean of knowledge again, and Kane also began to study seriously, but the two studied in different directions. Kane planned to learn more about "dark magic".
Kane had two feelings about those powerful dark magics: one was longing, longing for the great power they contained. In fact, part of the reason why Dumbledore could not defeat Voldemort was because Dumbledore was unwilling to master a certain powerful force.
Another feeling is fear. If even a wizard who has lived for over 100 years, Dumbledore, dares not wield such power, how terrifying must it be!
So now Kane wants to figure out why those evil dark magic spells can so deeply affect a person! And how to completely control those spells.
Kane is currently holding a book called "The Origin of Dark Magic," which is only an introduction to dark magic. The real dark magic is hidden in the forbidden book section, so he naturally can't get his hands on it now.
The only way is to sneak in later using Harry's invisibility cloak, or get in through some teacher's permission slip.
After quickly reading it, Kane understood where black magic came from.
The earliest form of black magic originated from the hunting life of wizards in primitive times. They obtained magical power through ancient sacrificial magic, which involved blood sacrifices. At first, people were excited by the powerful effects, but as society developed, some people felt that this was disrespectful to life, and it gradually disappeared in the course of development.
Another type of black magic was developed by wizards in the process of contacting or fighting against some dark creatures. For example, Dementors suck people's happiness and souls. In the process of researching how to resist Dementors, wizards also developed spells that could affect the minds of others!
Kane was engrossed in his reading when suddenly someone quietly walked up to him.
"Oh? This book is quite good. So, do you think wizards wield magic, or magic influences wizards?"
The person who came was an old man. Although he looked somewhat weathered, his deep eyes revealed confidence, which made people feel trustworthy at first glance.
"It should be the wizards who master magic. No matter how powerful the black magic is, as long as the wizard's spirit and soul are strong enough, he can master it!" Kane was somewhat surprised by this person's sudden appearance, but he still answered seriously, because he had actually thought about this question as well.
For example, the Killing Curse requires a wizard to infuse it with a strong killing intent before it can be used.
If you ask a junior wizard to use Avada Kedavra, he won't even be able to cast it, and he'll end up bleeding from his nose! This is because his magical reserves, physical abilities, and mental strength are far from sufficient.
Voldemort was able to use Avada Kedavra as a basic attack because of these powerful attributes.
However, Voldemort was clearly influenced by the Dark Magic - Horcruxes, transforming from the handsome and talented young Tom Riddle into a terrifying figure with a snake-like face and red eyes.
Because of repeated splits in their souls, they lost basic human emotions such as love, compassion, and pity, leaving only desires for power, immortality, and domination.
The old man nodded slightly, his eyes showing approval, and then asked, "That's true, but just how powerful does one need to be?"
Kane fell silent upon hearing this, pondering to himself: Indeed, what kind of powerful soul and spirit would it take to resist the corruption of dark magic? If it were Dumbledore creating Horcruxes, would he be able to restrain his lust for power?
"Therefore, it is extremely dangerous to learn many dark magic spells on your own without careful consideration," the old man continued earnestly. "Even two geniuses as brilliant as Grindelwald and Dumbledore had to protect and supervise each other when studying advanced magic, in order to prevent any mishaps from happening to the other."
Kane's eyes lit up as he listened to the other's explanation. He seemed to understand why these two wizards were able to grow powerful together; they must have mastered some method, a method to reach the legendary level.
But who is this old man, and why does he know so much about Dumbledore?
Kane doesn't seem to recall anyone like this at Hogwarts.
"Hello, I am Ald Green, your history of magic teacher!" The old man seemed to see through Kane's thoughts and extended his hand, his face full of appreciation for Kane.
Kane was a little confused. Wasn't Professor Binns the history of magic teacher? When did they change teachers?
"Teacher, I am Kane Malfoy, you can call me Kane." The two hands touched briefly, then quickly separated.
It wasn't out of mutual wariness, but rather because they were utterly frightened away by Mrs. Pince's thunderous roar.
"No loud talking is allowed in the library. You two, get out!" Mrs. Pince stood with her hands on her hips, her eyes wide with anger, looking as if she wanted to devour the two of them alive.
The two men, despite being kicked out of the library, didn't look the least bit disheveled. As Kane walked, he subtly observed the old man beside him, a hint of wariness creeping into his heart towards this mysterious professor.
The old man looked unremarkable, but the sheer amount of magic emanating from him truly astonished Kane. He couldn't recall ever hearing of such a character.
Could it be like in martial arts novels, where masters emerge from the library? Is this old man even older than Dumbledore?
Kane's thoughts drifted further and further away. This person's appearance made him rethink the dangers of this world!
If a school library has such a powerful wizard, what about those pure-blood families with deep-rooted influence?
It seems the wizarding world is much more complex than he imagined!
The old man in front of him seemed oblivious to Kane's thoughts, instead scrutinizing him with undisguised admiration in his eyes.
"Professor Alder, I'm heading back to the Slytherin common room now. Thank you for your explanation!" Kane said goodbye and left. He wanted to write to Lucius to ask if his family had any reclusive masters like that!
"That kid is really something, he's already got the skills of a professor right after enrolling! It seems he really can do that kind of thing!" The old man murmured to himself as he watched Kane's departing figure, his smile growing even brighter, clearly in a very good mood.
The young wizards around him, upon seeing this eccentric old man, instinctively kept their distance and quickly walked away.
Kane had already returned to the common room, where Draco was sitting on the central sofa, holding a quill pen and writing furiously.
Dear Mom and Dad:
This school is terrible! The divination teacher and the defense against the dark magic teacher are both crazy and we don't learn any magic at all!
......
But Kane and I added a full thirty points to the academy's score in just one day!
