Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 23 The Promise of Make-up Classes
"Why don't you write down what he said!" Snape completely ignored Kane's presence, staring intently into Harry's eyes for a long time, his gaze seemingly trying to pierce through Harry's soul.
He then slowly turned and returned to the podium, saying in his cold, slightly mocking voice, "Attention Gryffindor students! Due to this student's rude behavior towards the teacher, Gryffindor will have five points deducted!"
Then, he abruptly changed the subject, raising his voice to announce, "And Kane answered the question correctly, Slytherin gets ten points!"
Upon hearing this, the Slytherin students turned their gazes to Harry, their eyes filled with mockery and amusement; while the Gryffindor students also looked at Harry, but their eyes held more reproach, as if blaming Harry's impulsiveness for causing losses to the house.
However, Hermione, who was next to Harry, turned her gaze to Kane. Is this what you call kind and approachable?
Hermione's eyes burned with a furious rage, so fierce it seemed she wanted to devour Kane alive. Kane turned his head away, trying to avoid her gaze.
Harry stared at Snape, and Snape was staring back at Harry. He racked his brains but couldn't understand what he had done to offend the professor and why he was being targeted like this.
From the moment Harry stepped into Hogwarts, he sensed a strange hostility from Snape, but he couldn't figure out why.
After that, Snape began his lecture.
The Gryffindor students initially thought there would be no surprises in this class. However, as time passed, although they managed to get through the class, Ron, Neville, and Harry each lost 2 points!
In just one class, the score difference between Slytherin and Gryffindor increased by 21 points!
"I feel like this teacher really hates me!" Harry said to Ron, who was munching on a chicken leg next to him, with a helpless expression as he held his plate.
"He's the head of Slytherin, of course he hates us. Neville and I got points deducted too, didn't we?" Ron answered indistinctly, his mouth full.
He was no longer worried about the prophecy.
His brother told him that Professor Trelawney predicted the deaths of several students every year, but nothing ever happened.
"My brothers said that the professor likes those death prophecies or prophecies of injury, so I can guarantee that the Malfoy brothers' prophecy is definitely false!" Ron said after finishing his meal, bringing up the prophecy that had initially made him tremble.
Harry was somewhat bewildered, because Kane said his savior was prophesied, and he still believed in Kane.
Unable to determine who to believe, the two did not discuss the topic further.
Although Hermione knew she had been deceived by Kane, she still sat next to Kane in this class.
"Why are you sitting so far back in class?" Hermione asked Kane, who was sitting in the back row, with a puzzled look.
"Do you want to be overwhelmed by the smell of garlic?" Kane turned to answer the young wizard in front of him.
Another reason is that he didn't want to be noticed by Voldemort. Before he was stronger than Voldemort, he wanted to be an observer. After all, no one was in trouble in the first season.
However, he was still very interested in the Philosopher's Stone. He planned to take it after Harry fainted, without anyone noticing!
This lesson greatly disappointed the young wizards who had initially been interested in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
The teacher looked timid and spoke haltingly.
What was originally an interesting story about dark magic creatures became dull and boring under his explanation, making people drowsy.
However, the students were quite curious about whether he had any hair under his headscarf.
In the afternoon, the last class of the day was a spells class.
Professor Flitwick is short in stature and is said to have fairy blood. He was once the champion of a dueling tournament!
Kane realized that this professor was a great mage!
As with other courses, the first thing we did was take attendance.
When Professor Flitwick called Harry's name, his face suddenly lit up with excitement, so much so that his body trembled slightly, and he accidentally fell off his tall stack of books.
Then came the Charms course, which covered the importance of Charms and its wide range of applications.
"Charmsology is the study of magical spells that can be used for a variety of purposes, from everyday conveniences such as cleansing and healing spells to magical spells for combat defense and attack."
Everyone realized that this professor, despite his strange appearance, seemed to have real skills.
Even the arrogant Draco started to listen attentively at this moment!
Since it was the first lesson, Professor Flitwick only explained the simple cleansing and restorative spells.
He picked up his wand and demonstrated to a dirty, broken pane of glass on the podium, saying, "Everyone, watch carefully. Today's task is to clean and restore this dirty glass on the table. Now, follow me and learn the Cleansing Charm. The incantation is 'Scourgify.' Pronounce it clearly and accurately, and wave your wand gently and steadily, like this..."
As he spoke, he skillfully waved his wand and chanted a spell. Instantly, the grime on the glass vanished without a trace, leaving it sparkling clean.
Next, he demonstrated the Restoration Charm: "The incantation for the Restoration Charm is 'Reparo,' and you should also pay attention to the pronunciation and the technique of waving the wand..." As he chanted the incantation, the cracks in the glass miraculously disappeared, leaving it perfectly intact.
Under Professor Flitwick's patient guidance, the students began to practice.
Almost instantly, Miss Hermione Granger and Mr. Kane Malfoy were the first to complete their task.
"Miss Hermione Granger and Mr. Kane Malfoy finished first, so add 5 points to Gryffindor and Slytherin respectively!" Professor Flitwick's voice was full of satisfaction and appreciation as he generously added points to both houses.
At this moment, Hermione, having earned her first point in her house all day, was overflowing with joy. She looked at Kane beside her with a smug expression, as if to say, "See, I'm not bad either!"
The class ended quickly, and Kane walked over to Professor Flitwick as the get out of class was about to end.
"Professor, I heard you are the champion of the Wizarding Duel Tournament. May I ask to learn wizarding duels from you this weekend?" Kane's eyes were full of respect.
"Of course, child! This Sunday afternoon is fine. Come to my office then!" Professor Flitwick said with a look of satisfaction. What an eager student! It's a pity he's not one of our Ravenlola students.
Kane had to admit that teachers in the wizarding world were generally much more responsible than those in the Muggle world. If Kane were in his original world, he would definitely have to check his pockets first before asking for extra lessons!
After receiving Professor Flitwick's promise, Kane also left the classroom. He sought out the professor because he was only one step away from becoming a great wizard, but he didn't know exactly which step. Therefore, he needed to spar with a teacher to break through to the next level!
Professor McGonagall was not only the Head of Gryffindor but also the Vice-Headmaster of Hogwarts. She was usually very busy with other matters and always had to take care of the work that Dumbledore didn't do, so naturally she didn't have time.
Professor Snape has the most classes, and he also has to find time to brew potions. In addition, if Kane were to actually call on Snape, the latter would certainly not hold back.
That leaves Professor Flitwick as the only suitable candidate!
