Who moved her body?

Chapter 10 Everything is Tolerable

The man on the folding bed frowned as if he had been bitten by a mosquito, waved his hand haphazardly in the air a few times, then rolled over, and a few seconds later, the snoring resumed.

"Boss, accommodations needed." Guan Jie tapped the table again and shouted loudly.

The man stopped snoring and waited several seconds before turning around, then slowly sitting up. Several more seconds passed before he stood up and threw the large towel that had been covering his stomach aside.

"What time is it?" The man rubbed his eyes, looking at Guan Jie with some dissatisfaction.

"Four-Five." Guan Jie looked up at the clock hanging on the wall.

"Four o'clock! It's already four o'clock, what kind of hotel are you staying in? It's almost dawn." The man yawned and glared angrily at Guan Jie. "The cleaning staff will be at work by five o'clock, and by five-thirty, the beach will be full of girls in bikinis. What kind of hotel are you staying in now? Are you planning to take a nap? Such a good time is being wasted, really."

Guan Jie didn't say anything; he intended to let the man vent his frustrations.

After the man finished rambling, his eyes finally regained their lively sparkle, as if he had been sleepwalking the whole time.

"ID card".

"I want the top floor, the one directly above." Guan Jie pointed upwards.

"Top-tier ocean view room, 500 yuan a room, ID required." The man's eyelids drooped as he sized up Guan Jie, making it seem as if he wasn't doing it on purpose.

"Stay for a week," Guan Jie said.

"Three thousand five hundred plus a five hundred deposit, that's four thousand yuan in total." The man was wide awake, and a businessman's fake smile began to appear at the corner of his eye.

Guan Jie paid 4,000 yuan by scanning a QR code with his mobile phone.

"A case of water, a set of toiletries, a box of disposable underwear, and a set of short-sleeved shirts and shorts. No cleaning is required in between."

"Okay." The man took the thing Guan Jie had mentioned from the wall behind him, put it in an empty box, and then took a box of mineral water from the wall and put it together with the box he had just taken.

"One hundred and five, I'll give you one hundred yuan. Also, please register your ID card." The man was now fully awake.

Guan Jie paid two hundred.

"Anyway, one case of water isn't enough, let's settle the bill together later. Also, I didn't bring my ID card."

The man paused for a moment, then gave a look of apprehension and said, "Of course, ID cards are easy to lose. What do you need them for? Okay, I'll take your things upstairs for you."

The man took the room key, picked up a case of bottled water, and turned into the back of the counter. There was an elevator there.

The elevator display shows the highest floor as the fifth floor.

After getting off the elevator and turning a corner, room 505 was right there. The man opened the door, and the hot air that hit him made his hair fly back.

"By the sea, it's humid and hot, haha." The man pushed open the door, went in, picked up the air conditioner remote, and turned on the air conditioner.

Guan Jie walked to the window, pulled back the blackout curtains, and sure enough, it was already getting light outside.

"You can rest. If you need anything, just call the front desk." The man chuckled and put his right hand to his ear, pretending to make a phone call.

"Um".

The man closed the door behind him as he left. Once the footsteps had faded into the distance, Guan Jie got up and bolted the door. He checked the time on his phone—4:30. He could still get some sleep. After all, only tourists would get up that early, as if sleeping any longer would be a waste of money.

People on the island don't get up this early.

At eight o'clock, Guan Jie got up, took a shower, and changed into a printed T-shirt and those big floral shorts that people only wear at the beach, which he bought from the man downstairs.

Guan Jie arrived at the lobby on the first floor.

Everything was set up just as it had last night, except that the folding bed behind the counter had been replaced by a chair. The man with thick lips was now wearing a smiling mask and waved to Guan Jie the moment he appeared.

"Where can I get breakfast?" Guan Jie asked casually.

There are plenty of places to eat by the sea, but Guan Jie felt he should say a few words to this man. He was like a clueless tourist, completely unaware of everything.

The man, like a learned and dedicated teacher, immediately walked towards the door. Pointing to the left, he said, "Go that way. Walk along the white sand beach and you'll see that street. They sell everything there, from breakfast to late-night snacks, from seashells to whale bones—everything you can think of and even things you can't imagine."

"But you need to keep your eyes open. There are a few shops you absolutely can't go to. Of course, if you're specifically looking for those kinds of places, then disregard what I said." The chubby-lipped man had a knowing look on his face.

Guan Jie tilted his head. "What shop?"

"You really don't know?" The man grinned, revealing his drool-filled gums.

Guan Jie shook his head, reached into his cigarette case, and handed a cigarette to the man.

"Men, when they come to the beach alone, they just want to relax, so those kinds of places naturally exist, though they're not cheap." The man squinted at Guan Jie.

Guan Jie smiled knowingly, raised his right hand and waved, saying, "What a nice place! I'd love to, but I don't have the money."

The man clicked his tongue twice, as if agreeing with Guan Jie's statement.

"Let's go eat. We can't waste a week's vacation." Guan Jie pulled down the brim of his baseball cap and walked towards the white sand beach.

……

Guan Jie found a seat on the second floor of a restaurant near the bridge and ordered rice noodle rolls and a glass of milk. Rice noodle rolls are a local breakfast specialty, and tourists from other places often order one.

The number of cars on the approach bridge gradually increased, mostly heading to the sea-viewing platform. Guests staying at the hotel on the sea-viewing platform wouldn't come down so early, since check-out time was at noon, and checking out so early would be a huge loss; almost no one did that.

In the five minutes that Guan Jie sat down, only one car came from the direction of the viewing platform. It looked like it was transporting goods, and there were words printed on the car. When the car got closer, Guan Jie saw that the words on it were "Di Ruo Biotechnology Co., Ltd."

A waiter wearing a blue-printed apron carried Guan Jie's breakfast, put down the tray, and placed the rice noodle rolls and milk in front of Guan Jie.

"Thank you." Guan Jie said, pointing to the van that had just driven away, and asked, "'Diruo Biotechnology Co., Ltd.,' is that the famous Diruo Company?"

The waiter was taken aback at first, then said with some surprise, "Of course! You didn't know such a famous company was on Desert Rock Island?"

Guan Jie shrugged apologetically, "I always thought that a big international company like Diro was in a big city, I didn't expect it to be on an island."

"The headquarters is on the island, but there are branches in major cities," the waiter corrected.

"Isn't it inconvenient to be on the island? You have to cross this bridge to transport anything. If it's peak tourist season, there will be a lot of cars on the bridge, which will cause a lot of delays. Look at how cargo carriers transport goods to the airport and then deliver them all over the country. Hmm, I think we should build our headquarters in a big city where transportation is convenient."

The waiter chuckled, and Wei Yuan's face lifted slightly.
