Chapter 71 Transfer

And what he said was not untrue.

His grandfather, Newt Scamander, fought alongside Nicolas Flamel during the burning of Paris, together stopping Grindelwald and forging a deep bond of camaraderie in battle.

This is what connections are; it's part of family legacy.

He did indeed study briefly for a few months at the Devonshire home of Lemaître, at his grandfather's recommendation.

Although the master was advanced in years and had limited energy at the time, and taught mostly basic concepts and ways of thinking, his "unique tips" and insights were genuine and invaluable.

"A wise choice, gentlemen Weasley." Victor nodded in satisfaction.

"So, starting today. Be in my office at 8 PM sharp tonight. Bring your wands, and—be prepared to use your brains and your hands. No lateness allowed."

"Yes, Professor!" "We guarantee you'll be on time!!" The twins stood at attention excitedly, almost giving a military salute.

Seeing their almost floating with joy, Victor waved them away and turned to walk toward Professor McGonagall's office.

He needs to "receive" the "lockdown access" of these two new assistants.

When Victor knocked and received permission to enter, Professor McGonagall was sitting behind her desk grading a pile of papers, her brows furrowed, clearly dissatisfied with some of the content.

"Good afternoon, Minerva. Sorry to bother you," Viktor said politely.

"Good afternoon, Victor." Professor McGonagall looked up, adjusted her square glasses, and her expression softened slightly. "Is there something you need?"

Victor stated his purpose directly: "It's about George and Fred Weasley's confinement. I want to transfer their confinement arrangements for the next period of time to my place."

Professor McGonagall raised her eyebrows, her eyes filled with inquiry.

"Transfer to your side? Victor, I remember you're not in charge of regular solitary confinement supervision. And those twins—" Her tone carried a hint of headache and helplessness.

"What they need is strict discipline and demanding labor that expends excess energy, not..."

"I understand, Minerva," Viktor said with a smile.

"But I think perhaps we can restrain and deplete their energy in a different way, and they were the ones who informed me in time yesterday, so I plan to have them assist me in some alchemical experiments and research."

"This requires rigor and focus, and the opportunity to learn real, constructive knowledge. I think this utilizes their 'talents' more effectively than simply having them wipe trophies or clean the hallways, and it might also help them—be a little quieter."

He paused, then added, "Of course, I will keep a close eye on them to make sure they don't cause any trouble in my lab—at least, not trouble that affects the rest of the castle."

Professor McGonagall scrutinized Victor, seemingly assessing the seriousness and feasibility of his proposal.

She was well aware of the twins' "destructive power" and "creativity," and understood that conventional punishments had limited effect on them.

Perhaps Viktor's approach of "guiding interest with research and restraining frivolity with rigor" can actually achieve unexpected results?

Moreover, Victor does have a knack for magical creatures and magical practices, so perhaps he can really keep those two mischievous monkeys in check?

After a moment of contemplation, Professor McGonagall slowly nodded, her tone serious.

"Okay, Victor. I agree to move their detention time to your area. But," she emphasized.

"You must ensure their safety and guarantee that they won't use what they've learned from you to create more Weasley-esque trouble."

"If I find that their pranks have escalated because of your teaching, or caused more serious disruption, I will immediately terminate the arrangement, and their punishment will be doubled."

"Of course, I promise," Viktor promised earnestly. "I will keep an eye on them and guide them to use their talents in more suitable ways."

"I hope so." Professor McGonagall sighed and made a note on a form on the table. "I'll inform Filch and the other professors. So, they're in your hands, Victor."

"Thank you for your trust, Minerva." Viktor politely took his leave and left Professor McGonagall's office.

He breathed a sigh of relief as he stepped outside.

We secured an official permit for "labor source".

Next, it's time to prepare the "laboratory" and tonight's "first lesson".

Back in his office, Victor found that Tom hadn't returned yet.

I wonder if he's wandered off to some kitchen or some kind student's place to freeload, or maybe he's just taking a nap in some sunny corner.

He raised an eyebrow, then spoke, calling out in a clear tone, "Jamie."

A soft "pop" sound came from the air.

A house-elf dressed in a neat tea towel, with ears like a bat and big eyes like tennis balls, appeared instantly on the floor in front of Victor.

He bowed deeply, his high-pitched voice filled with respect: "Mr. Scamander! Jamie is at your service!"

"Good afternoon, Jamie," Victor said gently. "I need your help with something. If you see Tom, you know, please tell him to be back in my office by eight o'clock tonight. We're starting our experimental research."

Jamie blinked his big eyes and bowed again. "Yes, Mr. Scamander! Jamie remembers! Tell Mr. Tom when you see him! I promise!"

"Thank you, Jamie." Victor nodded.

"It's Jamie's pleasure to serve you!" Jamie bowed again, then disappeared with a "pop."

House-Pocket's communication efficiency is undeniable.

Victor was no longer worried about Tom's absence.

He walked to the center of the office, waved his wand, and cast several silencing and warning spells on the doors and windows.

Then, he gently placed the seemingly ordinary suitcase that he always carried with him on the floor.

With the tip of his wand, he tapped twice lightly on the brass clasp of the box in a special rhythm, while whispering a short activation incantation.

A soft "click" sounded.

The suitcase seemed to come alive, automatically unfolding and transforming.

The original brown leather surface now gleams with a metallic sheen, and the wooden edges are wrapped and extended by a more robust alloy structure.

The box rapidly expanded and increased in height, its outline changing —

Within seconds, the unassuming suitcase had transformed into a heavy, sturdy metal door, imbued with a blend of industrial and magical aesthetics.
