My partner at Hogwarts is Tom

Chapter 16 The Child in the Chimney and the Secret Base

Looking at Harry in front of me, and the room behind him.

It's clear that our savior isn't very popular at his aunt's house.

However, apart from being a little down, he seems to be doing alright. At least he has his own room and is able to eat and stay warm.

However, Victor could understand this, after all, it was 1992 and Harry was still an orphan living with relatives.

It's not easy to raise a baby to adulthood healthy and strong.

As for why Dumbledore didn't make Harry's living conditions better,

Victor thought that perhaps Dumbledore felt that it was already good enough that Harry had grown up healthy and strong.

After all, back when Dumbledore was young, babies would grow out of chimneys in England.

Okay, these are all jokes.

To be honest, although Viktor could understand, his upbringing in his previous life made it a little hard for him to accept.

However, what's important now isn't these things, but rather the magical fluctuation he sensed upon his arrival.

Then, under Penny's somewhat frightened yet curious gaze, Victor pulled out his wand.

Then, to Harry's astonishment, he waved his wand.

The next moment, letters appeared out of thin air on Harry's bed and then floated down.

Upon seeing these letters, Harry seemed to have thought of something and quickly went forward to pick them up and examine them.

After reading all the letters, Harry unconsciously hugged them and started crying.

"Waaaah, everyone still remembers me! I thought everyone had stopped talking to me~"

Seeing Harry crying, Victor's gaze softened.

He gently ruffled Harry's messy hair, while Tom, being a gentleman, handed Harry a clean white handkerchief.

"Thank you, Professor, and thank you, Tom. If it weren't for you, I don't know what I would have done next. I haven't received a single letter in so long."

"Alright, it's nothing. I guess the one who intercepted your letter was a house-elf, but he had already run away when I arrived. I guess it was that pureblood prankster or something. Here's what I'll do: I'll leave you a pocket watch. The pocket watch will notify me when he comes again."

As he spoke, Viktor began rummaging through his briefcase.

Finally, he took a silver pocket watch from Mike's pocket, tapped it lightly with his wand, and handed it to Harry.

"Alright, that's settled. I'm off now. Oh, and Harry, remember to do your summer homework. Don't forget it. See you at Hogwarts!"

With that, Victor waved and led Tom downstairs.

Tom, standing behind Victor, waved to Harry, pointed to the pocket watch in Harry's hand, and patted his own chest.

Clutching his friend's letter, he gripped the silver pocket watch tightly and waved goodbye gratefully to Victor and Tom's retreating figures.

"Thank you, Professor, and Tom too. I will do my homework well."

Finally, as he walked through the living room, Victor reached into his suitcase and pulled out a thick stack of hardcover books, placing them on the Desri family's dining table.

Then he turned to Penny, who was looking somewhat bewildered as she followed him downstairs.

"Thank you for your understanding, Mrs. Desley."

Watching Victor's departing figure, Penny subconsciously glanced at the thick stack of hardcover books on the dining table.

The brand-new books looked as if they had just been printed, and still had a faint smell of ink.

Besides the large title on the cover, there are all sorts of animals.

Upon opening it, a line of neat handwritten text came into Penny's view.

"Welcome to the magical world of animals! — Victor Scamander."

Upon seeing this, Penny couldn't help but gasp in surprise.

Because after she unconsciously finished reading the line, a fluffy little creature with a duck's beak rolled out from the line and tilted its head, looking at her curiously.

Looking at the picture of the furry little creature on the paper, constantly rummaging through the pocket on her belly for gold coins, Penny continued flipping through the pages.

…………

After leaving No. 4 Ligustrum Road, I looked back at the two-story building one last time.

Victor scratched his chin, then waved his wand at the small hallway again.

"Safeguarding the town."

"Expel the Outcasts"

As the incantation ended, a pale golden barrier enveloped the small building, then vanished into nothingness.

At the same time, an invisible wave also enveloped this area.

This magic is one of the Scamander family's inherited magic spells.

It is a variant of the Muggle Expulsion Charm, but it has been modified to be able to obfuscate specific targets.

It is generally used to establish protected areas for endangered and magical plants and animals, and to drive away their natural enemies.

Here, Viktor specifically chose a house-elves.

"Well, that way the house-elf won't bother Harry."

"But since it's just intercepting Harry's letters, it's probably just another prank by that pure-blood wizard."

"Tsk tsk, the pranks of young wizards these days are really boring."

Shaking his head, Victor then took Tom away to London's best French restaurant.

…………

Meanwhile, Victor led Tom away, while Penny immersed herself in the world of magical creatures.

Harry, after closing the door, couldn't wait to read his friends' letters carefully several times.

Then I quickly started writing replies from all my friends.

In the letter, he told his friends about his sadness at not receiving their letters.

And with Professor Victor's arrival, the problem was easily solved.

He also included his guess that it was that bastard Malfoy who sent his house-elves to play a prank on him.

Harry breathed a long sigh of relief as he watched Hedwell fly away with the letter.

He then curiously picked up the silver pocket watch that Victor had given him and began to examine it.

The pocket watch didn't look brand new; on the cover was a honey badger standing on a small snake, grinning at him.

Looking at the pattern on the surface, Harry couldn't help but laugh; he really liked the way the honey badger stepped on the little snake.

"Hmm, it seems Professor Victor is a Hufflepuff. No wonder he's so gentle."

With that thought in mind, Harry gently pressed the button, and with a click, he opened the pocket watch in his hand.

The next moment, with a cry of surprise, Harry was sucked into the pocket watch with a "whoosh".

The pocket watch then fell onto the bed.

Rubbing his head, Harry stood up from the thick cushion, looking somewhat bewildered.

Before Harry was a small wooden cabin that looked to be about twenty square meters in size.

However, this room had no windows, and the only source of light was the small, glittering orbs above their heads.

Opposite Harry were six rough-looking wooden figures that appeared to be made of stacked logs.

Next to it was a desk and a large, comfortable-looking bed.

After examining it, Harry found a piece of parchment.

"Harry, consider this a gift from me. It's a secret base I used to use, originally a modified spyglass. I hope you like it. —Victor"
