The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy
Chapter 110 Disguise?
Herschel was well-versed in the Bible, and he also knew how dark the twisted human heart could be.
It would be unsurprising that humans, freed from shackles, order, and control, would do anything to their fellow human beings.
Especially Maggie, a young and beautiful woman.
Hershel couldn't imagine what would happen after those strangers took Maggie away.
What to do? What to do?
What should I do?
My heart, which had just begun to relax, instantly jumped into my throat.
Extreme panic surged into her brain, and Hershel stared blankly, briefly losing the ability to think.
Hershel's knees buckled, and he knelt on the ground, completely lost in a daze.
Amid Beth's sobs, Glenn stood frozen, staring at the scene of destruction that was the complete opposite of the usual tranquility.
Maggie's image and smile floated into Glenn's mind: the playful fights in the small town, the laughter on the farm, and the intimate moments of love...
These scenes played out in Glenn's eyes like a movie, even though it had only been a few days.
Glenn felt a lump in his throat, his hands clenched tightly, and his body trembled slightly.
Jimmy quickly patted Glenn and whispered, "Things might not be as bad as they seem."
"The cattle are gone, the chickens and ducks are gone, and there are no food storage facilities. Those people came for the food."
"Maggie and the others were taken away not long ago, so the faster the operation, the safer Maggie will be."
Jimmy's words brought Glenn back to his senses. His experience in this brutal apocalypse told him that now was the golden time for rescue.
Those people are definitely moving supplies, their attention focused on food, but as time goes on, who knows what might happen.
Glenn took two steps forward, wanting to ask Caesar for help, so that Caesar could send men to find Maggie's whereabouts.
Just then, Herschel's old, hunched figure rushed to Caesar. Herschel raised his head, his eyes filled with pleading as he looked at Caesar, "Caesar, please help me find my daughter and family."
Patricia and Otis had worked on Herschel's farm for so many years that Herschel had come to regard them as family.
Hershel's voice trembled and was humble.
Caesar crouched down, put his hand on Herschel's shoulder, met her gaze, and solemnly said, "I will help you find Maggie and Patricia."
Caesar did not use the promise of finding Maggie and the others as leverage to force Hershel to join the ranch.
This will only make him appear mercenary in the eyes of his teammates; Caesar is doing this not only for Hershel, but also for Glenn.
Hershel was taken aback for a moment, then thanked him repeatedly.
"Thank you, thank you, Caesar."
"I will definitely repay you, I swear on the honor of my family."
Hershel is a typical redneck; his family is very important to him, and his oath to his family is a sign of how much he values it.
Caesar didn't hesitate, looking at Daryl, "Daryl, track him!"
The reliable Daryl nodded and strode toward the cowshed, his men following closely behind.
Knowing the seriousness of the situation, Moore glanced at Glenn and followed Daryl, his tracking ability being no less than Daryl's.
The two worked together to quickly search for clues.
Caesar walked over to Glenn and patted him on the shoulder gently: "Everything will be alright."
"We will find them."
Caesar's eyes held an intense confidence, as if what he said was absolutely correct.
At this moment, however, it gave Glenn a little confidence, a warm current surged in his heart, and he felt strength in his hands and feet.
"Thank you, Caesar."
"We're brothers, brothers don't need to say these things."
"Caesar, we've found where they are!" Mor's voice came quickly.
Caesar led Glenn and the others quickly toward More and his group.
There stood Moore and Daryl, standing beside a row of footprints that formed two parallel crescent shapes, resembling a heart that had been split open.
One end of the footprints led to the cowshed, and the other end led to the woods on one side.
Daryl's calm voice rang out: "The farm doesn't have many cattle, but they can't take them away."
"It's highly likely that a few people were assigned to lead the cattle back to the camp."
Daryl crouched down and pointed to several marks that were different from cow footprints; those were left by shoes.
Daryl looked into the woods, his gaze seemingly piercing through the deep forest to reach his target.
"Their camp isn't far away, it's not far to walk. If we leave now, we'll find them in no time."
"Okay!" Caesar nodded and turned to look at Glenn.
"Glenn, you stay on the farm with Jimmy and the others, and keep an eye on Beth and Hershel."
Herschel and Beth suffered a great deal of psychological trauma. Caesar was going to kill someone, and it would be inconvenient for him to move around with two burdens.
Moreover, Glenn's current emotional state is unstable, and Caesar is worried that he might attack rashly out of emotional agitation, which could not only cost him his own life but also endanger others.
Glenn's eyes widened as he looked at Caesar. "Caesar, I have to go."
Glenn remained steadfast, showing no sign of backing down.
Caesar said, "You need to think this through. Your emotions are unstable right now, which could worsen the situation. You must calm down and not enter the battle emotionally."
"Otherwise, you'll drag your teammates down with you, do you understand?"
Even so, will you still choose to go?
As Caesar spoke, he inspected the firearms. A bullet popped out of the chamber, and Caesar caught it casually.
Glenn looked at Rick, Morgan, and Jimmy, and all three returned his gaze with approval.
Glenn then turned to Caesar, straightened his posture, and said, "Yes, I still choose to go."
"Alright. Quickly check your gun to make sure it doesn't malfunction when the battle starts." Caesar didn't try to persuade him further and patted Glenn on the shoulder.
Since Glenn was unwilling to stay, Caesar approached Ford and asked him and his men to stay and take care of Hershel and Beth.
Hershel did not object; he knew that going with him would only jeopardize his family's chances of survival.
Beth was still grieving over Jimmy's death, crying uncontrollably.
Herschel hugged Beth, comforting her again and again.
Caesar ignored them and, after everyone had checked their weapons, led his men into the woods.
Caesar and several squad leaders walked at the front, moving the fastest, swiftly leaping over bushes and stepping over rocks that blocked their path.
A group of people moved swiftly through the woods like the wind.
Along the way, the cattle's tracks guided the way like a navigation system, and Daryl didn't even need to use his tracking ability anymore.
The traces left by the cattle were obvious, including not only footprints but also chewed bushes nearby.
It's impossible for the other party to be able to fake it to this extent.
After a short while of rapid movement, Caesar's gaze sharpened, and he raised his fist. The other team members quickly stopped and looked at Caesar.
