Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 19 Old Deng, what are you up to now!
Harry had never slept so well before. He felt that it was rare for him to completely relax when he slept. Since becoming a mercenary, Harry had never dared to relax when he slept, for fear that one day he would just fall asleep and never wake up again.
"Ah~ that felt great." Harry stretched lazily on the bed, then twisted and contorted a few times before leaping off the bed with a somersault. He splashed his face with cool water and went to the Great Hall for dinner, feeling refreshed.
"Why didn't you take me with you?" Ron asked, somewhat angrily.
"Don't worry, I still have to go tonight. If you want to go, wait for me at the library entrance tonight," Harry and Ron agreed. "But that mirror should only show what people want to see in their minds, not the future. Do you still want to go see it?"
"Of course, that'll give me material for tonight's dreams," Ron said half-jokingly.
"You really are... hahaha." Harry was amused by Ron.
That evening, in front of the library, Ron tried to keep his body low to the ground and remain as quiet as possible, hoping not to be discovered by Filch or the night patrol teacher.
Harry, wearing the Invisibility Cloak, stealthily crept up behind Ron and patted him on the shoulder. Ron immediately turned around but saw nothing. He scratched his head in confusion, then turned back. Harry patted Ron's arm again, startling Ron, who jumped up.
"Who? Who are you? I'm telling you, I'm not afraid of you."
Harry, feeling playful, walked over to Ron and blew on him while Ron was on edge.
"Ah!!" Ron was so startled that he fell to the ground with a thud.
Harry covered his mouth and laughed silently. He took off the hood of his Invisibility Cloak in front of Ron, revealing his head, and looked at Ron with an expression that he couldn't hold back anymore.
"Harry!" Ron looked at Harry in exasperation. He knew perfectly well that Harry was behind everything. He got up from the ground and waved his fist at Harry.
"Sorry, sorry." Harry smiled and backed away, dodging Ron's punches.
Meow~
Harry and Ron turned around and saw Mrs. Norris elegantly licking her paws. She glanced up at them and then ran away.
"Oh no, it went to inform Filch." Ron sensed something was wrong and was about to run away with Harry when he saw Harry lift up a layer of cloth covering him and wrap it around him.
"Let's go." Harry led Ron slowly up to the fourth floor. When they reached the top, they could still hear Filch's voice and Mrs. Lorris's puzzled cries.
"This is... an invisibility cloak!?" Ron stared at the robe in surprise. "Harry, where did you get this?"
"I don't know who sent it to me. They said it belonged to my dad and now they want to return it to me."
"Harry, I'm actually a little envious of your luck."
"I suggest you don't be envious, unless you want to get shot while drinking."
........
The two talked as they walked, and Harry's ability to remember routes was quite good; they soon arrived at the door of the abandoned classroom.
Pushing open the door, the mirror stood there quietly, bathed in moonlight.
Harry took off the Invisibility Cloak, folded it up and tucked it under his arm, and led Ron to the mirror.
"This one, you go first, me first?"
"You go first, since you were the one who discovered it first." Ron stepped aside, moving out of the mirror's field of vision.
Harry looked up at the mirror and saw the same scene again, standing in front of the Abandoned Tower, exactly the same as yesterday. Harry shook his head and looked at the mirror again, and sure enough, his parents appeared, looking at him lovingly.
"I'm here," Harry said softly.
The parents in the mirror smiled and nodded, then knelt down to face Harry. His mother pointed to Harry's blue-purple hair and stared calmly into his eyes, while his father looked at him, his eyes falling on the tattoo on Harry's chest.
"Okay, okay." Harry suddenly understood what his parents meant; they wanted him to change his hair back to its natural color and remove his tattoos. "I'll get it done."
Harry muttered to himself. In the mirror, his parents' smiles widened. They reached out as if to pat his head, but then, as if remembering they were in the mirror, they silently lowered their hands.
Harry sighed and gestured for Ron to come over. He stepped back from the mirror and gave it to Ron.
"So, what did you see?" Harry asked, his tone suggesting he was trying to distract him.
Ron stared in disbelief at his reflection in the mirror. "I... I saw myself as the student council president, holding the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup! I'm also the captain of the Quidditch team!"
"If nothing unexpected happens, this is what you really want. Come to think of it, you have a pretty mixed bag of desires," Harry remarked.
"I don't know, I don't know either. These are all things I like, but they're not what I want most," Ron said. "I just want to be better," Ron added in his mind.
Meow~
"It's that cat again. The cats in Night City are so cute, why is this cat so annoying?" Harry had quite a bit of resentment towards Mrs. Lorris. "Let's go, Student Council President, Filch is coming."
------
Harry came again the next evening, but Ron didn't come this time. He felt it was pointless, saying that no matter how he looked at it, it was all just fantasy, and it only made him doubt himself more and more.
Harry stood in front of the mirror again, looking at his parents in the mirror. He felt a blank space in his heart being gradually filled. Even if he couldn't speak or touch them, Harry wanted to look again. He always wanted to look again. He could never get enough of looking. At this moment, no matter if he was a mercenary or a ruthless saint, in front of his parents, he would always be a child.
On the third day, he came back here. Harry sat on the floor and looked up at his parents, but then an untimely voice rang out behind him.
"You're here again, huh..." Before Dumbledore could finish speaking, Harry instantly activated Sionstein, the mantis knife on his arm popped out, and gas spewed from the jet nozzles on his legs. Propelled by the gas, Harry charged towards Dumbledore, raising the mantis knife high and slashing down at Dumbledore's neck.
Dumbledore was still smiling. Sianwistan slowed down time in Harry's eyes by seventy-five percent, but Dumbledore suddenly moved as if his speed hadn't been slowed down at all. He took out his wand from his pocket and, to Harry's incredulous eyes, lightly touched the mantis knife that Harry was slashing down. Harry felt a huge force pushing him outward. Harry had no choice but to turn off Sianwistan to ensure that he landed steadily.
"Harry, don't get so worked up. I'm not Voldemort," Dumbledore said with a smile.
"This old man is that strong!?" Harry was completely taken aback by Dumbledore's words. He then sheathed his mantis knife, stood up, and asked, "So, what do you want?"
"Have you felt the pleasure, Harry?" Dumbledore asked, touching the frame of the Mirror of Erised, seemingly unrelated to the question.
"So it was you who put it here," Harry said to Dumbledore, arms crossed.
"The Mirror of Erised allows us to see what we desire most in our hearts, even if we never knew it beforehand, it knows." Dumbledore ignored Harry's words and continued speaking.
"I see." Harry understood what the mirror was all about, but he still didn't quite understand one thing: "Then what are you going to do with it? You can't just leave it there for students who go out at night to see, can you?"
"No, of course not. I just stuffed something in there. It'll be up to you then."
Harry knew the old man was up to no good. "Old Deng, what mischief are you up to now?!"
"This mirror is being moved tomorrow, Harry, so you don't need to come anymore."
"You'd better explain yourself clearly!"
Dumbledore gave a mysterious smile, winked at Harry, then flicked his robes and disappeared before Harry's eyes, leaving Harry standing there, helplessly furious at the air.
