Harry Potter, the savior of Night City

Chapter 20 Finally Found You~

The Mirror of Erised was indeed taken away, which Harry found a bit disappointing. During the rest of the holiday, he didn't go out at night anymore, but instead stayed in his dormitory reading "Enchanted Sculpting." Harry even tried carving on blocks of wood at first, but with a success rate of less than 10% on more than ten blocks, he thought he was doing a good job. He then tried to carve on the Mantis Knife, but the Mantis Knife's spirit slapped him in the face with the back of the blade.

After the Christmas holidays, Hermione returned to school. She was very curious about the Mirror of Erised that Harry and the others had mentioned, but at the same time, she was a little angry that they hadn't found any information about Nicolas Flamel during their two-week break.

"Oh, two weeks, and you've gone out at night at least five times, even meeting at the library entrance. Didn't a single person, not even once, think of checking up on Nicolas Flamel?!" Hermione's loud questioning of Harry and Ron was highly effective; Ron was knocked down, and Harry used Teleportation to escape the fight.

Next, it was obvious that they were going to help Hermione find Nick Flamel, but unsurprisingly, they couldn't.

"Hermione, actually, is it possible that Nicolas Flamel's book is among those you ruled out?" Ron asked Hermione cautiously.

Hermione, still engrossed in her investigation, said without turning her head, "How is that possible? Could Nicolas Flamel really appear in that book, 'The Most Powerful Alchemist and the Most Powerful Wizard'?"

"What if? We've basically looked through all the relevant books, so what if we find something unexpected?" Ron said, shrugging.

"Alright, let's take a look." Hermione was convinced. She waved to the pile of books, and several books that had been removed flew over, the first of which was "The Love and Hate Between the Strongest Alchemist and the Strongest Wizard".

Hermione put the book on the ground and had just turned to the first page when Harry and Ron heard Hermione cough.

"Cough, cough, what is this?" Hermione couldn't hold back any longer. The first sentence on the first page of the book read, "Nick Flamel, the most famous alchemist, created the most powerful alchemical artifact in the world—the Philosopher's Stone. Grindelwald, the strongest dark wizard, and also the strongest wizard..."

Hermione felt as if all color had vanished from her body, and her eyes had lost their light. She never imagined that the most important information would be hidden in this book, which she had considered to be a worthless novel.

The book is incredibly detailed, featuring not only Nick Flamel and Grindelwald, but also Dumbledore and Newt Scamander.

"The Philosopher's Stone can turn lead into gold and grant immortality, but it requires an astonishing number of souls as materials to create. Nicolas Flamel collected such a large number of souls during the Black Death to create this item, which represents the highest level of alchemy..."

Now, all the mysteries are solved. Why did Quirrell want this thing? It's likely that Quirrell didn't intend to use it to gain wealth, since Quirrell usually gave it to Harry in longevity chapters. So Quirrell wanted to use it to gain life. But Quirrell is still young and shouldn't be in such a hurry. Then there's another possibility: Quirrell is currently experiencing a split personality, and maybe there's something within him that needs life.

"Now everything makes sense." Harry understood everything. So, the Philosopher's Stone should be in the Mirror of Erised, and the Mirror of Erised should be under the trapdoor guarded by the three-headed dog. So, old Denise was supposed to go to that basement himself to stop Quirrell!?

Harry felt a headache coming on. After saying goodbye to Hermione and Ron, he headed straight for the headmaster's office. The stone beast at the entrance of the headmaster's office required a password, but Harry simply ignored it, flicked out his mantis knife, stuck it into the stone wall, and used the mantis knife as a walking stick to climb to Dumbledore's office window, where he knocked on the window.

Dumbledore, who was sitting at the table eating candy, saw Harry hanging outside the window. His eyes twitched. After hesitating for a long time, he finally opened the window and let Harry in.

"Harry, I hope that next time you come to see me, you will come in through the door," Dumbledore said to Harry as he sat back down in his chair.

Harry sat down in front of him, staring into his eyes. "Our commission doesn't include me fighting Quirrell."

"Harry, your wisdom far surpasses my imagination, I..." Dumbledore was interrupted by Harry before he could finish speaking.

"Stop, stop, stop! You're the most disgusting client I've ever met. One condition after another. The last one as disgusting as this was a guy named Faraday." Harry looked at Dumbledore. This old man's conditions seemed endless. If it weren't for the fact that he would actually get extra money every time he asked for an additional amount, he would have turned against him long ago.

"Oh? Can you tell me about this Faraday?" Dumbledore asked Harry calmly.

"Don't change the subject!" Harry slammed his hand on the table to stop him from changing the subject.

"Oh, this time it was indeed a mistake caused by my own selfishness. To be honest, I wanted to give you and your friends some training..."

"What!?" Harry suddenly raised his voice. "You want to involve Ron and Hermione too!?" Harry was a little angry. This old guy in front of him had absolutely no bottom line.

After being yelled at by Harry, Dumbledore was not angry at all. Instead, he smiled with satisfaction. "Don't worry, Harry. It's just to train them. The danger level is very low this time, and I will keep an eye on them. Don't worry, there will be no danger."

Harry sat down with some skepticism. Although the old man was indeed unpredictable, he was very strong. If he really was watching over things, it would be good to let Ron and Hermione train a bit.

"Now, back to our previous topic, because of your mistake, I have to confront a guy I know absolutely nothing about. So, not only do you have to increase the commission I requested, but I also need you to give me some of it in advance," Harry said, staring mercilessly at Dumbledore.

"Of course, you deserve it." Dumbledore took a key from the shelf behind him and handed it to Harry. "Give this key to Professor Snape, and he will bring you a portion of the commission. This time, it's the gold you want."

Harry took the key, nodded in satisfaction, and sat down. "Well then, the most important thing is settled. It's been a pleasure working with you, Headmaster."

Dumbledore smiled as he watched Harry carefully put the key away and asked, "So, what kind of person is this Mr. Faraday you've mentioned?"

Harry leaned back in his chair. "He was just a dead man. He kept ripping me off with his commissions and adding extra conditions. After I finally finished everything, he said he hadn't obtained the main data and I didn't get a single penny. So, in a moment of madness, I lured him to the Nightwalkers' camp and killed him. That arrogant guy thought I wouldn't dare to do anything. He only brought one bodyguard with him when he came to the Badlands."

Harry had no intention of hiding the truth about Night City from Dumbledore. The old man was too clever; it was better to be honest than to hide it, so as to avoid getting himself into trouble.

"I thought he'd cause trouble because of his company background that he always talks about, but two months have passed and apart from the trauma team coming to collect his body, not a single person has come. Ha, clown."

Dumbledore was silent for a moment, as if he had figured something out, and then suddenly said, "It's a place that makes me uncomfortable just to imagine it, Harry. You've had a tough time."

Harry understood that Dumbledore already knew some things, but decided not to interfere.

"Oh."

What a clever guy...
