Harry Potter, the savior of Night City

Chapter 18 The Magic Mirror of Erised

Upon arriving at the Great Hall, Harry bumped into the brothers Fred and George, who were wearing blue sweaters with an "F" and a "G" written on them, respectively.

Merry Christmas, Harry.

"Hey, Harry has a Weasley sweater too."

They went up and touched Harry's sweater, then touched their own, and began to complain that Madam Molly treated Harry better than her own family because Harry's sweater was a little finer than theirs.

Harry glanced at Percy, who was forced to wear a sweater and couldn't move, and then at Ron, who was also wearing a sweater but could still move. He couldn't help but laugh.

The Christmas banquet was a grand affair, with tables laden with roasted turkeys, mountains of roasted meat and potatoes, and all sorts of other food laid out on the long tables in the hall. Beside the tables were wizard-themed gift boxes with firecrackers that could be opened to reveal various gifts. You never knew what was inside; it might be a few white mice, a hat, or some other small toy.

Harry took the newly disassembled wizard chess set and played a game with Ron. As expected, Ron completely dominated him. Harry put the wizard chess set away and decided never to touch it again.

In the afternoon, Harry was dragged out by Fred and the others to have a snowball fight, and each of them threw a few snowballs at Quirrell on the back of the head. After throwing the snowballs, Harry ran away as Swannstein, leaving Fred and George there to get points deducted by Quirrell.

The happy time passed quickly, and it felt like evening had arrived in the blink of an eye. Harry sat on his bed, looking at the invisibility cloak that his anonymous friend had sent him. Suddenly, he felt that this thing could be put to good use. So, he wrapped the invisibility cloak around his body, quietly slipped out of the common room, and headed towards the library. He decided to look up some more things, but he didn't want to look up Nicolas Flamel right now. He wanted to see if there was anything interesting.

He walked quietly down the corridor and, unsurprisingly, saw Mrs. Lorris. Mrs. Lorris sniffed the air for a long time and lingered around several times, but she couldn't see anyone. She tilted her head in confusion, then flicked her tail and ran away.

Harry went to the library, reached the forbidden section, used the lock-picking charm Hermione had taught him to open the door, and quickly found the alchemy section to search inside.

"A Detailed Explanation of Transmutation Arrays, An Introduction to Flesh and Blood Alchemy... Enchanting Sculpture?" Harry picked up the book. This thing might be useful to him. He opened the book and glanced through it briefly. The meaning was easy to understand. You could carve runes on things to enchant them. However, the reason this thing was placed in the forbidden section was that it started to describe how to carve on the human body and try to enchant immortality.

Harry wanted to sit down and read the book properly, but obviously, someone was preventing him from doing so. Filch returned and, while inspecting the library, discovered that the door to the restricted section was open. He immediately rushed in to look for the student. The Invisibility Cloak only makes one invisible, not ethereal, so Harry had no choice but to pick up the book, put it in his pocket, and walk past Filch to leave.

He walked out of the library, the light of Filch's oil lamp still flickering behind him. It was still early, so Harry decided to wander around the school a bit more. He went upstairs and came to the fourth floor again, but this time he didn't want to look for the three-headed dog. Instead, he walked in the opposite direction and inexplicably found himself in front of a door.

Harry had touched many doors along the way, but this one was only slightly ajar. So either Filch or someone else forgot to close it, or some old man had prepared it for him.

Harry pushed open the door and went inside. At first glance, there was nothing special about the room; it was just an abandoned classroom with various old desks, chairs, and miscellaneous items piled together. However, there was one strange thing: a huge, luxurious mirror that reached all the way to the ceiling. On the top of the mirror was engraved a line of words: Eris, Slater, Ehrlu, Ayte-Ubi, Carvru, Ayte-on, Vohes.

Harry walked up to the mirror and found it to be completely empty.

"Surely you can't charge money just to look in a mirror in this world?"

He took a few steps forward, facing the mirror. Reflections began to appear, but not just his own. There was a priest, Old Wie, Mrs. Wells, and many other shadowy figures. He saw himself standing before the Arasaka Tower, holding the "Yinglong" sword, his feet resting on the head of Adam's hammer. A small figure, holding what appeared to be a "Killing" shotgun, leaned against him, but it was just a shadowy figure; he couldn't tell who it was. Various figures stood behind him: two shadowy figures, each more muscular than two of himself combined; and a strong shadowy figure wearing a coat, leading another shadowy figure...

Various people stood behind him, but only a few had visible figures; the rest were just shadows.

"Hmm, this dream is pretty good." Harry looked at the scene reflected in the mirror. It was indeed amazing. If it were made into a Mewtwo movie, it would definitely be a huge hit. He just didn't know if Arasaka would actually make it.

Harry concluded that the mirror either reflected the future or what people desired.

"Next time, I'll drag Ron and Hermione over to see them too," Harry said, turning to leave. Just then, the image in the mirror changed, drawing Harry's attention once again.

Many people appeared in the mirror. Unlike the previous one, Harry could see their faces. The two people standing in front looked like a couple. The woman had deep red hair and emerald green eyes. She was looking at Harry with tears in her eyes. Harry felt a sense of familiarity towards her at first glance.

The man was tall and thin, with messy hair. He looked quite like Harry and was looking at Harry's artificial hair (Harry had dyed his hair a bluish-purple) and earrings with some dissatisfaction. Harry felt a little guilty looking at him. Finally, he sighed and looked at Harry with some sadness.

"This, this is..." Harry seemed to realize something. They looked so much like him, so familiar. Facing them, that feeling of familiarity... they, they were--

"Dad, Mom?"

Harry called softly.

The people in the mirror laughed, and as they laughed, tears streamed down their faces. More and more people came to the mirror to look at Harry, and Harry looked back at them.

Harry smiled, a tear rolling down his cheek. He wiped it away, turned around, glanced at his reflection in the mirror, then turned and walked out of the room.

Harry didn't know why, but even though he had never met his biological parents, he always felt a strange sense of longing when he actually saw them.

He looked at the darkness before him, then at the book in his arms, and suddenly didn't want to wander around anymore; he wanted to sleep.

Back in his dorm, Harry put away the spoils from his nighttime outing and collapsed onto his bed. He didn't want to think about anything; all he wanted to do was sleep. When he saw his parents' images, he instantly felt a sense of exhaustion, an exhaustion he wouldn't even express to a priest.

"I'm so tired..."
