Chapter 42 Odin's Blessing

"Is this the hammer?"

Jon followed Barton to the center of the large pit, which was sealed off in layers.

In the center of the large pit was a hammer that looked anything but ordinary.

"That's right." Barton looked at Jon, who wasn't wearing an isolation suit, and hesitated before continuing, "I think you'd better put one on."

"Why?" Jon Snow was already crouching down in front of Mjolnir. "Afraid there might be some alien virus?"

Patton nodded, a hint of admiration in his eyes, and said:

"Before it was confirmed that there was no virus, you were the first person who dared to approach without wearing protective clothing."

"Is that so?" Jon scoffed. "It's just a hammer."

"But nobody can lift this hammer." Barton raised an eyebrow. "Maybe it has some kind of fingerprint recognition system on it."

"Fingerprints? That's an interesting term."

Jon approached the hammer, preparing to reach out and touch it.

"Let me feel its ripples and I'll know."

"Everything has ripples; perhaps I can use this to find its owner."

Golden lightning crackled in his hand as he slowly reached for the hammer handle.

Jon thinks that if you had the chance to touch Thor's hammer, would you resist touching it?

Jon Snow wasn't sure if others would, but he would definitely touch her; why not?

"Gurgle."

Seeing this, Barton unconsciously swallowed, his eyes fixed on Jon and the hammer.

The moment Jon grasped the hammer handle, Ripple energy was instantly channeled into it.

Under Patton's tense gaze, the hammer emitted a soft hum and vibrated slightly.

Although the amplitude was extremely small, none of this escaped Patton's exceptional eyesight.

"What?!" His eyes widened. "The hammer moved?"

You should know that he had tried lifting the hammer before.

In his hands, the hammer seemed to be rooted to the ground; no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn't budge.

Actually, Jon couldn't lift it either, and after trying for a long time, he was about to let go.

A mysterious rune quietly appeared on the side of the hammer.

Sudden.

"Hmm?" Jon frowned.

A powerful suction force emanated from the hammer handle, accompanied by a scrutinizing gaze.

"Something's wrong!" Jon's eyes sharpened. "The Ripple is being continuously depleted!"

The ripple feedback in his hand was very strange.

Jon then realized that his hand was firmly held in place by the hammer.

Meanwhile, his ripples were being continuously drawn away by the hammer.

It was as if something was trying to establish some kind of connection with him through the ripples!

Meanwhile, in the Nine Realms - Asgard.

Odin, the king of the gods, who was in the Odin's Sleep, suddenly opened his eyes.

His gaze pierced through the magical barrier surrounding the earth in Kamar-Taj in an instant.

They traveled all the way to New Mexico, eventually pinpointing Jon Snow, who was holding Mjolnir.

"Oh?" A hint of admiration flashed in Odin's eyes. "Such a dazzling soul... and—"

"With his golden, dazzling character, this Midgardian is indeed worthy of lifting Mjolnir. But..."

"JOJO? I can't let you ruin my plans."

As he spoke, a blue electric light flickered at his fingertips.

--boom!

On Earth, Jon's hammer suddenly erupted with lightning, sending him flying.

"What?! Uh—!"

Jon was sent flying backward, and Star Platinum instantly appeared behind him, catching him steadily.

"Jon!" Barton rushed forward. "Are you alright?"

"Don't come any closer!" Jon raised his hand to stop him.

At that moment, an aged yet authoritative voice resounded in his mind.

"Don't meddle in other people's family matters, JOJO. Now is not the time for you to act recklessly!"

"Odin?" Jon frowned. "That old man..."

"Hmph! I am the King of Gods! Odin, the King of Gods!"

Sizzle—!

A spark suddenly flew from his fingertips, and at the same time a bolt of lightning shot out from the hammer, striking Jon's shoulder!

"Ora!" Platinum Star threw a punch.

But the current traveled through the substitute and instantly entered Jon's body.

That violent yet gentle power flowed through his body.

It eventually coalesced into a rune and was imprinted on his shoulder.

This is Odin's blessing to Jon.

However, Jon Snow saw it as Odin's way of bribing him.

"Jon!" Barton said gravely.

"Are you alright now? Although I don't think it's possible to be alright after being struck by lightning."

"Nonsense." Jon swallowed hard, looking quite annoyed.

"Although I really want to swear, I'm actually fine, just a little annoyed. Oh well, you'll understand when you see this."

After saying that, he ripped off his shirt, revealing his incredibly perfect physique.

"Wow!" Barton raised an eyebrow. "Jon, I know you have a great figure, but you don't have to..."

"Look at my shoulder! Idiot!"

After saying that, Jon also looked down.

On his shoulder was a rune symbolizing a smooth journey.

Legend has it that Odin would generously bestow a blessing upon those he encountered who possessed excellent character.

This rune is a blessing from Odin, though its duration is unknown, but it should be useful.

"What's this?" Jon clicked his tongue in annoyance. "He's trying to bribe me?"

"What is this thing?" Barton leaned closer to examine it. "Or is it some kind of tattoo?"

"Uh, could it be... a magical mark?" Jon carefully chose his words. "I'm not sure."

"Magic?" Barton asked incredulously. "Gandalf's kind?"

"More or less." Jon shrugged. "It's a blessing, but I'll have to look up the details."

"However, I would say this is a blessing in disguise."

That being said, Jon Snow knew perfectly well what Odin was up to.

It's just a slap followed by a sweet treat, right? Want him to stop touching Thor's hammer? Give him trouble.

Well, he doesn't even want to touch it anymore.

He will definitely stay far away from that broken hammer from now on.

"After all, even the God-King is giving me so much face," Jon thought to himself.

Actually, he was mainly wary of Odin.

That old man had an astonishing number of buffs.

If we really anger this short-tempered old man...

What if Odin, the god-king, who is nearing his end, becomes enraged and comes to talk to him with an ultimate imperial weapon?

Although Jon Snow hated evil, he wasn't stupid and naturally wouldn't ruin someone else's good deeds.

"Hey." Barton took a picture of the rune with his phone. "I have to report this. By the way, are you really okay?"

"You've asked me several times already, Barton." Jon pulled on his coat. "Let's go outside and talk."

As the two were walking out, two researchers rushed in.

As they brushed past each other, Jon, seeing the man's profile, suddenly turned around.

"What's wrong?" Barton stopped in his tracks. "Jon?"

"Those two... never mind." Jon shook his head. "Let's talk as we walk."

"So what exactly happened just now?" Barton asked as he walked. "You used that lightning bolt to find the hammer's owner?"

"Uh..." Jon pursed his lips, a strange expression on his face. "To be precise, we found the hammer's owner's father."

"And I was even bribed by him."

"What?" Barton nearly tripped. "Hammer's... dad?"

"It's the hammer's owner's father," Jon corrected. "I can't go into the details, but I absolutely cannot touch that hammer."

"It would cause an accident if you touched it."

He glanced at Mjolnir out of the corner of his eye and prompted:

That's all I can say.

"This is a test, for his son and for us, so we need to change our strategy, Patton."

"Some weird old man won't let me touch the hammer, but we can try to win over Asgard as an ally."

"Asgard?" Barton's eyes widened. "You mean..."

“That’s right,” Jon nodded. “Agent Barton, our mission now is to find the Hammer God.”
