Chapter 26 Unknown Effects
"How did this happen?"
Jon held the necklace up to his eyes and examined it closely.
He discovered that the moment his fingertips touched those strange patterns, a faint warmth would flow into his body.
"It's similar to a formation." Blade picked up a towel and wiped his sweat. "Special arrangements will trigger different effects."
"So you engraved it on the necklace?" Jon casually put the chain around his neck. "That's right."
"Hmm." Blade nodded. "An ancient technique passed down from vampires, not many people know it now."
"Vampire script....."
Jon suddenly remembered the scene of their first meeting.
In the vampire library beneath that bar, there were yellowed parchment scrolls on display.
It seems to be something engraved on his necklace. He couldn't understand it back then, but Blade could.
No wonder.
As a solo daywalker with a long lifespan, Blade's greatest hobby is learning.
He wouldn't hesitate to spend time studying any knowledge that would be useful for hunting vampires.
"Was it the time at the library?" Jon asked.
"That was the time," Blade said calmly.
Upon receiving confirmation, Jon's eyes lit up. He admitted he was a little excited, but he remained calm and said:
"So what's the use of this chain? To increase strength? Speed? Or something else?"
He knew very well that the vampire's library contained many strange spells and formations.
However, those texts are usually only circulated among purebloods, so many mixed-blood vampires are unaware of them.
Just as Jon was secretly looking forward to it.
Blade shook his head and said:
"It might be, or it might not be. I only know it's a buff effect, but what exactly it is—it's not recorded."
"Great!" Jon punched him. "Just tell me already, stop keeping me in suspense."
Upon hearing this, Blade simply stared at him in silence, a silence that could not be more profound.
Jon finally realized what was happening, but he was still unwilling to give up: "Are you serious? You're not kidding?"
"No." Blade shrugged. "Whistler took down most of the text, but his hands were shaking so badly that some parts were blurry."
"And then?" He raised his hand and made an explosion gesture: "The library, well, you know what happened."
"...That's definitely like that old man's style." Jon choked, "I'm speechless."
Although I only met him once, that slovenly old man with a shirtless jacket and a strong smell of cigarettes and alcohol was unforgettable.
Jon Snow almost thought the old man had wandered onto the wrong set.
"Speaking of which," Blade suddenly changed the subject, "you killed Deacon, yet the half-vampires haven't bothered you lately?"
"In my memory, they are very vengeful."
Why is Blade talking so much today? But he still answered:
"I'm currently in Monaco."
Jon shrugged. "But if they dare to come after me, I'll make sure they're all taken care of."
"And besides, stop talking about me," he retorted. "What about you? Anything you've been up to lately?"
"Not even once." Blade frowned. "Something's not right. I have a bad feeling about this."
Jon's expression froze instantly.
The two looked at each other, and the air suddenly became heavy.
"Yarl," Jon cursed.
If those vengeful vampires haven't made a move for so long...
This is definitely not a good sign.
They might be plotting something.
Or prepare a huge surprise for Jon and Blade that they absolutely cannot accept.
"Listen, Eric, I know you absolutely haven't burned Whistler's body yet."
Jon lowered his voice, looking intently at the blade, and said:
"Now you have to deal with Whistler's body. Either burn it to ashes, or hide it somewhere they'll never find it. In any case, you have to get rid of it."
Seeing the hesitation in Blade's expression, he paused and continued:
"If you don't want them to turn Whistler into a zombie, you'd better act now."
"I'll take care of it right away." Blade immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. "Go back now!"
If Jon hadn't reminded him, he might have really been careless.
Although he was initially vigilant, the daily calm quickly wore away his wariness.
There's no such thing as a person who can be a thief for a thousand days but can't guard against thieves for a thousand days.
As the two reached the door, Jon suddenly turned around, looked at Blade, and said:
"Just give me a call if you need help, okay?"
"You are the one who should be." Blade patted his shoulder heavily, a hint of reproach in his voice.
In fact, he had noticed Jon's strange behavior long ago.
In Blade's memory, the original Jon Snow didn't have such a strong need for his own strength.
Moreover, he has an invincible purple giant by his side, plus Ripple, so he is not lacking in strength at all.
But now?
What kind of enemy could force Jon Snow to create a special accessory to amplify his Ripple?
That means Jon is very wary of that unknown enemy.
Given their relationship, Blade really wanted to help Jon Snow through this difficult time.
But given Blade's personality, he would never be able to say those words of concern.
Should he be made to say:
Hey, we're friends, Jon, I think you need my help.
Please, just thinking about such cheesy lines made him feel uncomfortable all over.
If Jon Snow had heard that, he probably would have gotten goosebumps all over.
They remained silent, as if by unspoken agreement. After saying goodbye, Jon's figure quickly disappeared into the night.
The environment here made Jon Snow, who was a bit of a germaphobe, feel extremely uncomfortable.
However, instead of going home, he hailed a taxi and headed straight for Tony's mansion.
More accurately, I went to his birthday party.
Standing in front of the villa, Jon hesitated for a moment, then raised his hand and rang the doorbell, saying:
"Tony? Are you there?"
A moment later, the door opened automatically, and an elegant British accent came from above.
"Welcome, esteemed Mr. Yovik."
"Jarvis?" Jon stepped into the porch, looking around. "You're the legendary intelligent butler?"
"Yes, Mr. Yovik, I am Jarvis."
"Okay, Jarvis, where's Tony? What time does the party start?"
Jon frowned and looked around.
In his opinion, there was no party atmosphere at all.
There are no ribbons, no balloons, and not even a glass of champagne.
"Mr. Yovik, didn't you receive notification that the party was postponed for three days?"
"What?" Jon looked bewildered. "Why didn't anyone tell me... Oh well, I'm already here. Where's Tony?"
"The gentleman is waiting for you downstairs. Please follow the arrows to get there."
Blue arrows lit up on the ground.
Following the markers to the basement level, Jon pushed open the glass door in front of him.
I saw Tony chatting with a black guy in military uniform.
"Tony," Jon greeted him before walking over.
Seeing Jon's expression, Rhodes quietly lowered his voice and asked, "Who's this? He doesn't look friendly."
"Relax, Rhodes." Tony turned his friend's head back. "This is Jon, Pepper's nephew."
"Jon, this is James Rhodes, he is..."
Tony was about to get out of the car when suddenly his legs gave way.
At the critical moment, Rod, who was standing next to him, quickly caught him.
"Are you alright?" Upon seeing this, Jon immediately strode over.
He walked over, frowning, and asked, "Tony? Wait a minute?"
"What's with the matching pattern on your neck, Pepper?"
