My Pokémon Story of Seasons
Chapter 34 Sister Jie
After leaving the pond, Tong Hua took the grass turtle and the foam squirrel home.
"Gurgle gurgle..."
It was almost 2 p.m., and both Pokémon and Tong Hua himself were starving.
Fortunately, Tong Hua had some tree fruit with him to stave off hunger, otherwise he would have fainted from hunger.
"Um?"
Back in front of the cabin, Tong Hua instinctively tried to unlock it with the key.
The door opened with a gentle push?
"Strange, could it be that the giant milk tank has opened the door?"
Without the key, the only way to unlock the door from the outside is to pry it open, but the lock is intact, so someone must have unlocked it from the inside.
I clearly told them not to open the door to strangers...
Speaking of which, I think I saw the curtains drawn on all the windows just now...
Tong Hua cautiously pressed her ear against the door, while the grass turtle and foam squirrel beside her looked at each other, not understanding what was going on.
Inside the room, one could faintly hear the sound of calm breathing.
Apart from that, there was no other activity.
Tong Hua carefully pushed open the door and made sure that there was no burglar or anything like that breaking in.
The room was dimly lit with the curtains drawn. Tong Hua squinted, adjusting her eyes to the light. The grass turtle and the foam squirrel followed behind her, warily scanning their surroundings.
"Big Milk Tank? Sweet Bamboo?" Tong Hua called softly, but received no response.
Tong Hua looked closely and found Miltank and Sweetie lying on the bed, both Pokémon fast asleep.
Strangely, apart from the two of them, there were still steady breathing sounds coming from the direction of the kitchen, so there was no doubt that there were other people in the cabin.
"Could they be ghati?" Tong Hua had just entertained this thought when she immediately dismissed it.
So Tong Hua tiptoed to the edge of the kitchen, lightly placed her fingers on the doorknob, took a deep breath, and suddenly pushed the door open.
Tong Hua: "?"
What appeared before me was a figure lying face down on the stove, fast asleep.
Judging from the first impression of this person's back view, he should be about the same age as Tong Hua.
Her outfit was very fashionable, like a cowboy straight out of a movie poster, with long blonde hair reaching her waist and falling onto the stove, and a brown cowboy hat perched on her head.
Tong Hua stood there, stunned, completely unprepared for a stranger to suddenly appear in her home. The grass turtle and the foam squirrel peeked out from behind her, equally bewildered.
"...Feed?"
Tong Hua called out tentatively, but the other person did not respond. Their breathing remained even, as if they were sleeping soundly.
He carefully circled around to the front and finally saw the other person's face clearly.
Judging from her demeanor alone, she should be a kind and caring older sister. She has delicate features, a little jam on the corner of her mouth, and is holding half a half-eaten waffle in her hand.
Several empty bottles were scattered on the stove. Tong Hua picked one up and saw that it seemed to contain wheat juice residue.
"……not bad.
"Wait a minute! How did this person get drunk at someone else's house in broad daylight?"
Tong Hua was about to wake the woman up and ask her some questions when she noticed a very familiar-looking big-billed gull lying sprawled out in the corner of the kitchen...
……
Half an hour later, Tong Hua and the Pokémon had finished their simple lunch, and the blonde sister finally woke up slowly.
She groggily propped herself up, her cowboy hat askew, her long golden hair disheveled and draped over her shoulders.
The bright green eyes blinked, and the gaze slowly focused on Tong Hua, who was cleaning in the kitchen.
"You're awake?"
Seeing that she had woken up, Tong Hua handed her a glass of warm water.
She took it, drank it all in one gulp, and finally felt a little more sober.
"Hiccup, hello there. You must be Tong Hua, my name is Jie... Jie..."
She scratched her head, unable to say her name for a long time, before finally managing to give it after a while.
"My name is Jessica, you can call me Sister Jessica."
"Jessica?" Tong Hua repeated the name in confusion, then suddenly remembered something.
The signature on the title page of the planting notebook left by the village chief was Jessica's.
"You're the village chief's granddaughter?" Tong Hua asked, somewhat incredulous.
The person in front of me, who ran into someone's house drunk in broad daylight, was actually able to create such delicate and exquisite notes.
The contrast is really quite stark...
"Ah, right!" Sister Jie slapped her forehead, her cowboy hat almost falling off. She hurriedly straightened the hat and revealed a hearty smile.
"Grandpa showed you my notes, right? All the illustrations in them were drawn by me."
Tong Hua nodded, but her brows remained slightly furrowed: "But... how did you suddenly appear at my house? And what's more..."
Jessica scratched her cheek sheepishly, her golden hair shimmering in the sunlight: "Well..."
I came here on Grandpa's advice to see if there was anything I could help you with, and I also brought you some things.
But since you weren't there, I had to wait outside. Just then, a giant beak delivered the goods to my door. It knocked on the window, and the big milk can opened the door.
"Oh, all the food I'm eating is what I brought myself. I didn't steal anything from your house."
Tong Hua was speechless after hearing this.
Although the events unfolded much as he had guessed, Tong Hua still felt a bit conflicted when he heard that it was indeed his own family's milk can that had opened the door.
Good news, they didn't open the door for the stranger.
Bad news: strangers have been allowed into my home.
This child, maybe we shouldn't let her watch the house anymore...
The beaked gull that delivered the package was also woken up and sent away by Tong Hua. It seemed to have had some wheat juice with Sister Jie, and the gull was flying around feeling dizzy.
Speaking of which, Big Milk Tank and Sweet Bamboo still haven't woken up. Could they have secretly tasted the wheat juice too...?
Sister Jie stood up, stretched, and her denim jacket lifted up a corner, revealing her strong abs and tanned skin.
She was tall, a head taller than Tong Hua, and one glance was enough to tell that she was a hardworking farmer.
"Alright, now that you're back, I should get down to business." Jessica patted her cheeks to fully wake herself up.
She turned around, took a package out of her leather backpack, and handed it to Tong Hua: "Here, Grandpa asked me to bring this to you."
Tong Hua took the package, opened it, and found a bag of tree fruit, a one-piece raincoat, a pair of rain boots, and a waterproof cloth inside.
It looks very sturdy and durable.
"It's been raining non-stop lately, and Grandpa said you might need these." Jessica leaned against the stove, arms crossed, a lazy smile on her lips.
Tong Hua touched the material of the raincoat and found that the workmanship was quite exquisite, with rope buckles carefully sewn along the edges of the waterproof fabric for securing it.
"Thank you, these are indeed very useful." Tong Hua thanked her sincerely, then asked hesitantly, "But... why did the village chief suddenly think of giving these away?"
Jessica blinked, a mischievous glint in her emerald eyes: "You've been busy with spring planting lately, haven't you? The spring rains can be quite troublesome without proper protection."
As she spoke, she suddenly leaned closer to Tong Hua, her body carrying a faint scent of wheat and the sweetness of jam: "And... Grandpa thinks highly of you."
Tong Hua felt a little uncomfortable at her sudden approach and took a half step back.
The grass turtle and the foam squirrel immediately stood in front of Tong Hua, especially the foam squirrel, whose tail was slightly raised, looking wary.
Seeing this, Jessica laughed and straightened up: "Your Pokémon are quite protective of their owner!"
She reached out to touch the foam squirrel's head, but the little guy nimbly dodged her.
"Alright, the items have been delivered, I should go now."
Jessica waved casually, turned and walked towards the door. "By the way, how about we grab a drink sometime? It's on me!"
It's almost cherry blossom season, how about we go see the flowers together?
Before Tong Hua could answer, Jessica had already pushed open the door. The afternoon sun streamed in, making her blonde hair shimmer.
However, just as she took a step, a muffled clap of thunder suddenly echoed from the sky.
"Boom!"
Immediately afterwards, large raindrops began to fall without warning.
"Whoa!" Jessica was soaked to the bone and hurriedly retreated back inside. "Wasn't it all sunny? Why did it suddenly start raining?!"
Tong Hua looked out the window and saw that the once clear sky was now covered with dark clouds again, and a torrential downpour was pouring down, the rain almost obscuring her vision.
"It looks like it's going to be a shower..." Tong Hua murmured.
Jessica shook the water droplets off her hair; her cowboy hat was soaked and drooped listlessly on her head.
She sighed helplessly, "This is really troublesome. Even with an umbrella, we'll definitely get soaked."
"How about I take shelter from the rain here for a while?"
